then you can unleash upon some poor Puppy and Farm their tears like a pro
Best way to move the Gunship around is jump to the system with a different ship and just pay to have it transferred.
One of the things to note is this ship is heavy (5th in hull HP and mass) and yet somehow it is a medium ship. Best way to describe is that the ship wasn't built, it was poured. They just poured metal into a mold and just hollowed it out a bit to fit internals in it.

try it as a silent running torpedo boat. no sheilds, 6 torpedos, a fixed multicannon, plenty of hull reninforcements, and a ton of heat sincs. try it, go on!
The fighter bay adds alot, the Gunship is a beast that can still land at outposts.
I love my gunship. It's damn near indestructible, has a bunch of guns, good for multicrew, coffee makers, and fighter bay. Hard to go wrong.

I made what I call the Trident Class (named after the submarine launched ICBM used by US navy). It's a long range stealth hull tank with reverb cascade and penetrating munition torpedoes. It also has one packhounds for confusing point defenses as well as hiding the torps. A sort of decoy if you will. It's not my only ship but I do find it funny just how powerful this build is.
Protip: If you have the cash for the ship, but not the rank, join the open beta that's running at the moment and buy it from No Moon, there is no rank requirement, and anything you do in the beta will not affect your main game. Sadly you can't keep the ship, but at least you can try it for yourself without having to slog through all of the Federal ranks.
However, my opinion is that the Gunship is just too god-damn slow to even consider. Sure it packs a punch like a locomotive hitting an office worker that didn't get the promotion, but it has all the speed an manoeuvrability of a cow that has suddenly found itself devoid of three legs.

Rinzler is right, if Arnold Schwarzenegger would fly a ship in Elite, he would most certainly chose the Gunship! Even better is that they're rarer than hen's teeth in PvP, so if you see one out there, watch out for the pilot most certainly knows how to fly it!

Grinding rank especially fed rank isn’t that bad anymore. I have done so many bounties in fed space that all I had to do was search for rank up missions.
Now I'm thinking a small wing of three flying in formation with flight assist off would be a terrifying Death Blossom like point of pain.

My favorite thing about the Dropship is that it can fit a class 6 fighter bay, meaning you can launch not just one, but two fighters at once. One for multi-crew, and one for NPC crew. They really add a lot to its damage output.
The bloopers sounds a bit like you have been recording some less than successful adventures in your bedroom....

While we talk about its maneuverability, it is worth mentioning it's strength, supercruse agility. This thing is true to form sealclub. A born interdiction machine. I swear one day I'll track down the rank missions that are just waiting for me to do them... Just as soon as I get the damn joystick curves app to work so I don't have to jerk my stick around like I'm stuck playing the game via a puppet.

I have this ship very engineered (thrusters, fsd, PP, PD, over charged multicannons and 2 small beam lasers) and a prismatic shield with lots of reinforcements. I can take on any ship. It's a tough little bastard! I prefer my conda of course because it kills quicker, but this ship isn't a pushover. Plus with ship kits and painted white, it's kind a sexy helicopter brick with no propellers.
You forgot about fighter bays. It's like little carrier.
I just bought the gunship and so far it’s doing pretty good. More firepower and survivability than my vulture. I personally run 5 gimballed pulse lasers and two rocket launchers on the top. 4 medium lasers and 1 large laser to batter down shields and hull fast, with the rockets up top for the bigger ships. I’ve tried the all multicannon set up but it’s just total garbage. Takes a whole 5+ minutes to break shields so I get the feeling it’s a troll build. I haven’t even touched the engineering side of the game because it’s too out of the way for my liking so I’m running base game equipment.
Oh and to make up for the lack of maneuverability, I just go in reverse. AI enemies usually chase me in a straight line all while I’m able to shoot right back and then they loop off away from me allowing me to chase them.

python makes this ship nearly useless, because has better jumprange, manoeuvrability, shields, powerplant, and speed. FGS has slightly better hull, and has fighter hanger and that's it

NOPE. I adore, love and am ready to fuck my python so why should I get gunship...Yes it's an interesting ship and even coming as close to word decent as possible, but python is GODLIKE!
You are comparing a heavy duty combat ship that's designed to be a floating gun platform to a multipurpose and agile ship, seriously FGS is god-tier when it comes to dakka dakka while Python is god-tier at everything else.

Depends on your sanity. Stock highest range is 18ly, max engineered is 30ly and with the fsd booster it can reach 40ly.
