[Elite: Dangerous] A Federal Gunship with a GPU-melting amount of Packhounds

- My GTX 1060 hit 95 degrees Celsius while recording this. I checked.
Special thanks to the two fantastic pilots, CMDR Achi Cirno and CMDR Petitsinge223.
Songs used (in order):
Brian Tyler - Lay Aboard Lads (Extended)
Manafest - Impossible
You Can't Stop This Mother F - Tyler Bites (Deadpool 2) Juggernaut Theme
(Note: This is a re-upload after a copyright issue forced me to change the second song. Come on, RUclips. This channel isn't even monetized. Screw you and your little dog too.)
Just saw you upload the fight, here r some explanation.
0:46 I thought you're gonna boost but didnt notice FGS is far slower than I expected lol
1:51 eng pip issue and stalled -it happens, a lot :(
2:22 trying to silence run but SRB PA cocked me (its not a cold ship even with eff PA)
2:50 stalled again
4:00 noticed my wep integrity, trying to reboot
4:50 hardpoint down
5:10 looking my panel(in the middle of fight, yes) finding reboot button. I cant fight without weapon but didnt have more distance before reboot
5:47 weapons which just fixed were blasted by missiles
Lots of ideal stuff but pip management just stopped me.
anyway, GF
How much was the rebuy?
I dont do combat as an explorer but watching both teaches me a bit of how to fight in general
It should also teach you that pack-hounds don't do nearly enough damage.
That's the problem with packhounds, not a ton of raw damage, but they will shred modules
@Xenodeath that's why I cringe to see pack hounds fired off with nothing subtargeted
That feel when "temperature critical" doesn't refer to ship but to GPU
Warning- Terminal failure imminent! Please disengage all systems to avert permanent damage!
wait it isn't normal to see the gpu cool down when launching packhounds? well i guess the 3-front-fan case without anything but fans on the front works wonders
What I expected: epic dogfight.
What I got: *flight assist off* *flight assist on* *flight assist off*
thats what dogfights look like in ed. if your a combat pilot and you dont have an easy access button on your flight stick just for flight assist what are you even doing?
shoutout to E:D's customization though - you can turn off specific audio cues (like "flight assist on/off") so you don't have to hear them when you toggle something a lot.
I also turned off the countdown voice when using FSD.
@@transcatgirl551 yall should ignore mongs like this.
glad im not the only one who yells "Fire everything" when using packhounds
I am lol
The poor framerate is due to the fact that I was literally cooking my GPU.
time for heatink attachments..well, could go water cooling?
@@MaximusPsychosis Laptop. I'm slowly melting a laptop.
@@CrimsonGamer99 HA! fingers burned yet? might need to water cool it, get a bucket ;)
if its got vents underneath, even the fan(s?) intakes, ether look for a "Desk laptop cooler" or make a cardboard structure up that forces air into that fan, get a 12cm delta fan on it :D if you like hearing a vacuum running..
@@MaximusPsychosis I have a laptop cooler. I forgot to turn it on during the second fight.
@@CrimsonGamer99 ah, there you go.
The ending had me giggling uncontrollably. Priceless choice of music.
Ramming is just part of the missile build. It is a really big, really expensive missile with infinite ammo.
"Our pilots had become to dependent upon missiles, they'd lost their dog fighting skills"
That was actually pretty tense .. and an awesome use of a star trek meme xD
Is it just me, or is the orchestra singing "HOLY SHITBALLS!"
That's actually what they're singing. It's from deadpool.
I’m glad someone else caught that I thought I was tripping of the weed
2:05 *I’ve seen this raw strength only once before*
1:58 “FIRE EVERYTHING!!!”
I lol’d
A turreted MC with emissive rounds would do wonders for your targeting.
I can’t decide which is most epic, the pirouette of packhounds or the pounding of, "Holy- Shit Balls!" Either way, I’m glad I saw this.
Pack hounds heatsinks chaff, thank you for making my gunship build crimson
About time! This video was flagged and removed like 4 times last night! Darn flaggers! Great video! Btw, CMDR Achi Cirno is everyone's friend. :P
Yeah I noticed. Powerwolf was giving me fits. Which is a shame because their music is great.
"What the hell happened GPU, you look awful!"
"Yeah well, you should see the other guy"
you sir deserve a sub from the mini well done
It's things like this that keep me in Solo Play
There's no way I'll flying like that
Then you run. This is purely concentual, anyway.
I said the same damn thing when playing warthunder then i mastered the art of not getting one's tail shot clean off by spitfires when flying anything that cannot out turn a spit. Here is a hint... If you cannot out dive or outrun your foe you do crazy high G spirals. You use the 3rd person camra to see behind you and use keyboard to control yourself to avoid their nose.
The end is you are a really tough target to hit and if they do not lose interest they will lose ammo eventually or overshoot in which case is your turn to stack the deck on them.
I always flew 109's and FW-190's so if the tables turned against them and i got even a single hit it was usually game over at that point.
Game Spirit Presenting your tail to a ganker as a relatively new/unengineered player after getting interdicted is a good way to end up dead.
@@oceanbytez847no actionable third person camera in elite, I'm afraid.
That's alotta missiles..... We're gonna need more ECM.
I'm whatching some cool fight scene from AAA movie? Think so!
Have a love-hate relationship with the Gunship. It flies like a brick and has hilariously underpowered engines. But holy firepower batman.. all these tasty weapon mounts ! And yeah ramming is definitely an option with it provided you can connect. Sill i only use it as firepower support when in a wing, trying to haul its heavy arse in solo is a pain.
"WARNING. GRAPHICS ATTACK. GPU MALFUNCTION."
Around 12:20/12:50 i start paying attention to the words in the music- and almost fell out my chair laughing! Awesome Choice!!
Shit balls only ?
PvE Commander: Why is he shooting the packs? They're not doing much damage.
PvP Commander: Thrusters are locked on. Easy boop kill, if disabled. nice.
What would your GPU think about putting packhounds in every slot on a Type 10?
This is why you always bring ECMs to a missile fight.
love the Deadpool 2 Juggernaut theme xD
i love how i find this video again after 2 years and i look in the comments and it's the reason i subbed to you XD
Nice pairing with the song mate.
Love your work. Keep it coming. 👍🙂
I'd have a look at your CPU temp too mate. I had bad stutter and realised my CPU had a nice dust coating on the cooler.
he can't. laptop. would void warranty. take that as a lesson to do desktop.
@@oceanbytez847 laptop warranties dont void because you opened it lmao, its actually against the law for a company to void the warranty on an opened device.
THOU HATH BEEN B O O P E D
-The words of a legend.
Poor GPU at 95c it wont be lasting much longer lol
You should do this again, but at about 800 meters above a planet :)
The fights were cool
But I'm here just admiring the Space Dandy reference
Thou hath been booped. Lol xD
That music killed me! 😂 great flying!
Oh holy shitballs!
The only thing more perturbing than a cloud of packhounds is clashing heads with a bigger fish!
Watching this as someone who only just started playing ED a few days ago... makes me want to stick to private sessions/non-combat orientated roles because I cannot pull anything as amazing as that was, like seriously, that was impressive to watch. Maybe someday I could hold my own in such a situation...
Believe it or not, this is one of the slowest medium ships I own. It's heavy and sluggish on the turn.
ED is just too good of a place to use "O Holy Shitballs", lmfao... Theme song for the Throngler?
The constant flight assist warnings must do your head in after a bit.
Thats is a thing that annoys me with Elite. I mean, missiles should be pretty powerful and who the hell would develop or use weapons that even if you run out of ammo it hasn't managed to kill your target. I don't like how missiles work in that game. I understand they are this way so not to be OP. I just think the way they are designed is poor.
Missiles need further nerfs imo. especially after how they ruined TLB.
I bought this game, couldn't run it. My buddy just got me to try it again on my pc build and I'm obsessed. Problem? I wanted packhounds and didn't pledge to the leader who unlocks them....the grind continues. Damn you zachary hudson!
me who does not play Elite: Very interesting
Don't play elite. It's bad.
@@CrimsonGamer99 oof, damn. ok, can't refuse that!
As long there is no smoke comes out your system, you fine kiddo
Just unlocked packhounds today, this looks really sick
HOLY! SHITBALLS! OH HOLY SHITBALLS!!
Super entertaining video, hilarious build, and seriously good piloting skills. This was great! 10/10
Holy Shit balls they must have a lot of explosive resistance. Many of the missiles connected but only did 1-3% dmg... My cutter is running 2x Large torpedoes. 4x medium packhounds. 1xhuge Multicannon... Anyway very fun videos to watch. Good fights... PS remember to use a fire extinguisher on your laptop to cool it down. CPU really loved you hehe... I’m playing on my Xbox X and I’m actually surprised I can fire all packhounds without frame drop or X toaster exploding hehe... Anywho I really enjoy your videos. Always entertaining. o7 Cmdr.
A chieftain vs the flying brick... Does anyone else think it's ridiculous that crimson even got a lock at all?
Love the Manafest music! Lol
The second music piece tho
What build were you using here? I assume large L/S/S torps and M packhounds, with dirty drags and hull reinforcements?
for a second i thought the second song was Electros Theme from the amazing Spiderman 2. kinda disappinted. that could be in a future video. its similar to the one you played at half
Manafest! Good band
Even better were the piloting skills, great video.
Just saw the name of the ship and put the *dandy!* together. GG you have the power of God and Anime on your side :)
A full volley of nearly 100 packhounds only did 1% hull damage to both the Chieftain and the FAS.
Happens when the first one explodes too close to the rest of them. The blast radius destroys the other missiles, resulting in a chain reaction, not dealing any damage to the hull. The closer you are to the target, the more likely it is to happen.
That song at the end was great
that song at the end was a replacement for the one that got content claimed
Am I the only one that's disappointed pack hounds dont make that whistle effect
good music, superb flying & fight :) GG
thx for sharing :) o7
I think there is a gundam behind his ship.
I have a 950 and it can handle many pack hounds with no problem.
Though I do have noticeable slowdown with the fog shadows on beta.
Entertaining fights.
1:41 - "Warning: hull breach attack. Taking internal damage"
I hear this fairly regularly when fighting and I cannot find any explanations online. can anybody explain what's happening? I've looked around.
It means the enemy's attack (usually kinetic) is breaching your hull and damaging internal modules. You can check module health on the right hand console. Modules are located as physical sections in the ship that have their own hitboxes. If they take enough damage, they can malfunction. If they're destroyed, you need to reboot the ship to get them back to 1%. This isn't a severe threat, especially if you have a module reinforcement package installed.
Some experimental effects, such as superpen railguns or high yield cannons are designed to penetrate and damage modules more effectively, and can be a serious threat to hulltanks who rely on their hull strength to win fights.
@@CrimsonGamer99 I really appreciate the reply. That clears up a lot, thanks
I have an Imperial Cutter sporting 4 Pack Hounds, 2 large long range thermal vent lasers and a long range huge PA.
Swap the PA for a third beam and switch thermal vent to thermal conduit
@@CrimsonGamer99 fixed or gimballed? I have a cutter wit 4 pack hounds and cant decide what to put in my Huge hardpoint
@@samuraiogcc gimballed. It's a pain chasing a lead and getting a lock at the same time.
@@CrimsonGamer99 Ty. What primary effect? Long range?
@@samuraiogcc Efficient if your distributor is suffering. With packs, try long range yeah.
I think it's CPU related issue, i cant be sure
Those critical heat warnings are for your GPU not your adder
Great musical choices.
You deserve so many more subs bro holy shit.
Second song of this video is great, added to my favorites thats for sure ;) Also looks like a gf! I know for a fact my computer would've blue screen while doing that, as I have a 980 4gb Classified Edition, but its 8 years old (I use hand-me downs because broke)
Jesus that spiked my temps ffs .... lol
I thought pack hounds would be more CPU intensive...interesting.
Why do I get the feeling the Chieftain wasn't even trying.
my laptop hit 98 while watching this
Weird, ramming did more damage than the actual weapons. They should just add a jousting module and be done with weapons altogether.
Better yet, add articulated arms to manipulate masses of metal or plasma for extra bludgeoning/heat damage!
But then you'd have to have counter limbs to deal with inertia, better add something like legs.
Probably would be easier to land at this point with feet, better add those.
Whoops made a robot
This is precisely why I can’t PvP. Lol. The use of flight assist off/on, the reverse turns. From a strictly PvE’er, great freaking video. Love seeing people who know how to PvP going at it. Not me though. Lol.
Does the gunship turn good enough to use fixed weapons like Pladma Accelerators for an anti ganker?
nice song sync! damn that was entertaining. disgusting FGS!
if your gtx 1060 is at 95 degrees Celsius your GPU is broken....
95 on a 1060? I have a single fan 1060 and never get above 72 no matter what. You need to dust or get better airflow in your case, holy shit. I think you might have even cooked your GPU getting it that hot; not sure what the max is for the 1060 since I've never even come close...
I would watch this movie.
You can no longer reboot to regain shields ;)
Thats not how this works thats not how any of this works. Change the thermal compound on the gpu and clean the dust out of your case.
It's a laptop.
@@CrimsonGamer99 Okay so? change the thermal compound and clean the dust out of the fans...
I have a gtx 1060 6gb in my desktop and it never goes above 81c when its at stock and never above 70c when i reduce the power draw (you can do that with the desktop version with little to no performance hit) and i have a 1060 3gb in my asus 503vm laptop and the temp never goes above 73c on the gpu so if yours goes that high then your thermal compound is fucked and needs re pasting or your fans are dusty as fuck or the cooling system in your laptop is woefully inadequate because it should never let the gpu get that hot. It will die if it keeps reaching those temps. Try some thermal grizzly kyronaut.
@@eraldorh It's brand new. Not dusty.
@@CrimsonGamer99 Then change the thermal compound, stock compound sucks. I had to do the same on my laptop before temps on both CPU and GPU stayed below 80c on full load. High CPU temp is probably your issue as well and since the heat sinks are linked it's driving up your GPU temp as well. Address it or keep arguing I don't care but your laptop will surely die at such extreme temps and it will be soon at over 90c!
Undervolting your CPU will also lower temps, since you have a 1060 I'm betting your CPU is a i5 7300hq or a i7 7700 so you can undervolt by 0.120volts and have no performance hit but it will lower temps by at least 5c use intel XTU to do this.
If you can get a cooling pad that will help as well and if the bottom of your laptop is metal you could stick a couple of thermal pads to your heatsink and link it to the underside of the laptop which would help dissipate the heat especially with the cooling pad and of course lowering your temps will improve your performance or at least keep it consistent. Extreme temps require extreme methods.
eraldorh well laptops do get much hotter than cases.. Keep in mind, the size of the laptop and the temperature of the room it’s in, and the fact that Elite Dangerous can be a demanding game with ultra settings
I didnt see Nero coming XD Btw, so that was what you was doing in that system lol
My unit needs more heat sink. My game looses alot of fps with just 4
Pack hounds are fucking insane though
a space dandy is a dandy but in space
Space Dandy! He's a dandy guy. In space!
Quick question, when fighting Achi he kept breaking your target lock, but I couldn’t see any PAs firing. Are they just too quick to see or is he using another method? Great video btw, learning a lot about pvp
He was presumably using Short Range Blaster PAs, which means he had to get real close to fire.
CrimsonGamer99 I see, looks like a good anti sniping tactic as it makes it hard to select modules. Hope to see you out there one day o7
anyone going to point out that it is the cpu that would melt? or is he using nvidea gpu rendering?
So stupid question : Why don't you ever synthesize ammo when you run out? Are you unable because you don't have Horizons or haven't collected the mats? Or have you established your own rules of engagement which prohibit rearming? Personally, I think you just enjoy death by Boop. I know I do!
Sometimes I do. But I only had enough for like 6 refills, and wasn't gonna waste them on fights that I felt like I was going to win without any more missiles.
Just dont let Achi get his hands on to Mamba :D
Damn, currently semi new, only have two asp explorers and a dolphins but is the chieftain actually that fast?
still an awesome video I wish i could have the build
Are pack hounds worth the 4 week grind? Are any of the modules? Which ones should one aim for first, I already got two hammers from when PP was new and not quite so dull.
They're a meme weapon. A single, stock rack does little more than annoy a target. But if you get multiple, engineered to be high capacity, you can tear off a target's weapons in a few volleys. If you target their drives, you can destroy them easily if you land direct hits.
you dont need a 4 week grind. do people still dont know? ive got most PP weapons and it wasnt a grind at all... just a wait.
i dont know if it sill works, havent played for... idk half - 3/4 of a year now and havent really been following except for ant's videos.
basically what you do is.
- pick faction for your desired module
- wait 3 1/2 weeks, go into the home system of the enemy faction, kill every "special" npc (you'll notice the names beeing different) and you get like 10-30 whatever it was per kill, if i recall correctly and get up to 750... was it merits?
anyway always did it with a conda, and interdicted npc ships in supercruise.
1-2 days later, when the next cycle hits, you'll be rank 3 and can buy the module in desired quantitiy, store it on ships (back before we had module storage) or just plunk them into storage. now defect from the faction, log off and dont play for... 24-48 hours, cant remember and voila. "0" grind and you get all the things. with just 1-2 hours of time you need to put in, not a "4 week grind".
now i now, there are those advanced police units now, but i dunno if they'r only busting you for PVP, or also for PVE.
and then there is this hole jail thing now, so idk how viable it still is
My unshielded type-9 ass got kicked with two volleys of the thing when I was exiting a station...
Pacifiers (Large Frags) and Enforcers (Small Multicannons) are also nice mods.
@@AlpieInternet don't fly shieldless T9s, the no-fire-zone is absolute bullshit to you, because it will be attracted to newborn criminal, but he will get bounty trough you!
intense music! love the video! nice! o7
A lot of skill using packhounds just cant figure them out, to hard to use
Dandy!
Byakuren's motorcycle lol
Melting, maybe if you play on Intel Integrated Toaster.
aka Intel XD graphics
How do you fly so damn well jesus
None of that is all too difficult to do. You could probably do just as well in the same build with a week or so of proper practice.
people taking combat rams when you have shields up and they don't. I winced when it hit.
Hey man. When you're sporting over 4000 armor on a medium ship, you wince at nothing.
"Warning! Heat Levels Critical"
The ship or GPU?
"Both?"
"Both"
Guys, can you tell, what kind of torpedo pylons is he using and with what effect?
You could ask me, you know.
They're regular torpedo racks, engineered sturdy grade 2 (that doesn't really matter though), the important bit is the experimental effect. Reverberating Cascade Munitions. This makes the torpedo directly damage the shield generator, not the shield. 4 or 5 hits takes out any sized shield in the game, regardless of strength. But you only get one shot.
