Fantastic playing and great laid-back presentational style, really nice review. I also have one of these in the same colour and absolutely love it more and more over time. I have several guitars that cost three times the price but my revstar is my go-to. Just does everything, feels fantastic to play and has its own special mojo. The construction of the thing always blows me away too, built like an absolute tank. Great to see that others are just as happy with theirs.

Thank you for this review. I have a number of excellent Yamaha guitars (AES1500, AEX1500, Weddington Custom, CPX15...) as I am a huge fan of the quality and price/performance provided by Yamaha. I can honest say that the design, build quality, playability, and performance of my recently acquired Denim Blue RS502T has made it one of my favourite guitars. Yamaha has knocked the ball over the fence here, and the RS502T gets my absolutely highest recommendation!

I have bought 13 guitars this past year (yes sad but true!). 7 Epiphones, 3 Gretsch, 2 Squiers and 1 Yamaha Revstar 720b black with white, p90s and a bigsby. The Yamaha is exceptional quality. The best of all 13. Best fit and finish. Best quality parts. Feels genuinely like a guitar 3-4 times the price. Have to set aside that there’s not the heritage of an Epiphones, Squire or Gretsch but fantastic guitar. Great sound. Highly recommend.

  • @LLSicilia

In case your conidering a Revstar, my 502T came from the factory with sharp frets. Yamaha Australia authorised a repair through their luthier network. The luthier turned my meticulously maintained 502T into a RELIC - File marks all across the fretboard, discolored my ivory binding (blackened it) and also left cracks along the binding. Yamaha's national service manager (AU) , Drew Morrow, was indifferent and basically told me to suck it up. Will never recommend or buy Yamaha instruments again. Their warranty counts for nothing, and management staff treat you with contempt, forever using rhetoric to evade their obligations.

I own a Revstar 620. It is the UGLYEST guitar I own. But, It is a very well made guitar. Someone or some people at Yamaha should be canned for what they did to these guitars. Who ever heard of a motorcycle racing stripe on a guitar? Why would you finish the maple cap on a guitar with steel wool? Why all of the dull metal parts? Did this guitar sell well in Japan?
I think they should have changed the body shape to look like a toaster and sold more than they did.
