- This job is in Tampa Florida, Water had flooded under home causing all the hardwood floor to buck and come loose. The problem is no drainage around the footer.
This is great DIY for the Homeowner. Be prepared for a lot of labor but you can save 1000's by doing it right the first time.

Appreciate the lesson on how things look under all the dirt around the foundation. I'm ignorant to a lot of these things so seeing it first hand is really useful.
hey chuck! I'm a contractor myself and do tons of drain work! These videos alone have given me the confidence and have taught me so much! I would love to see a video of your companies set up! Like your work vehicle or what tools and such you have! Anyways thanks a lot for everything:) -Bryan Borja
God bless you. Thanks
Thank you for this video! Its really encouraged me to be able to work on my house. I'm a new homeowner here in Ontario Canada and I have a water issue in my 2' mud/clay crawlspace under my house. I have a sump pump there for now in order to deal with the temporary problem, however I need a more permanent solution. Would you be able to utilize this same solution and choose a french drain option rather than using a sump pump? Great info, I appreciate you message at the end encouraging anyone to be able to accomplish this task.
Hi, do you do work in the cape coral fl area?
Chuck. How come you don’t use a membrane in addition to the Blackjack?
Second, I don’t have standing water along the outside of the house. But I do have water that is coming up through the slab due to hydrostatic pressure. Will a French drain really help me? Or can I just use the black jack and then maybe some gravel without the pipe? My thought Is that I just want to keep the exterior wall dry from soil that is moist but not with standing water.
Thank you so much
Very useful👍
Chuck I'm in North Carolina and we have red clay. My stick built home has a crawl space and the builder did a poor job of grading the foundation especially on the Gable ends of the home. Our crawl space gets damp and edges get wet during very heavy rains. I was considering having a concrete contractor dig a trench down to the footer edge and use a couple coats of Rubr-Coat #57. Then pour a minimum three foot wide concrete walk down the Gable sides sloping away from the foundation and pitching toward the natural grade of land away from the home. Any gutter downspouts would be sent across the concrete. Do you feel this will work since it's a clay soil? Thank You
How much does this cost?
I gotta do all this shit on my moms house this weekend. God damn floor is coming up inside the house.
How’d it go?
it's so Chingy seeing you do this with your Hands without the Workers Gloves me touching Soils or anything to do with the Houses Foundation like ew
but whatever
