Hey Joshua I've just installed the DJi o3 air unit on an older iFlight Nazgul f5. I've double checked the soldering to the board and it's good (gray to R3, white to T3). I'm running the latest betaflight 10.8 configurator and betaflight 4.3.2 on the quad. I used the dump from iFlight for all the settings, and put the correct uarts in the ports tab so that the quad will arm, fly, etc. However, it is stuck in low power mode and the battery voltage doesn't show up in the OSD. I tried updating with Canvas. Weirdly, on this quad, the same problem was happening when it had a vista in it (that's why I thought it was a vista problem and replaced it with the o3). Could it be something with the FC? Or something I have overlooked in betaflight? Any help would majorly get me out of a bind. Thank you for all the amazing content! (I spent the whole day watching the newest Betaflight series!)
To get battery voltage etc all you need is MSP enabled in the Ports tab for the UART that the gray and white wires are connected to. If that doesn't work, I start to suspect something is wrong with the wires or the FC. Maybe move the TX/RX to a different UART? Make sure MSP is on the correct UART?
I don't have this issue, i get like 7km range and probably more but Joshua intro are so good that i'll watch it anyway cause i know i'll learn something today.
Omg Josh. This has been bugging the crap out of me for so long. I run air units in my wings without flight controllers and have always wondered why can I not record. Thank you so much seriously thank you thank you thank you so much! It now works
Was having the low power unable to record problem and could not fix it. MSP was correct, battery voltage initially would give me a reading of 25.0v when I plugged in but did not change at all during flight. Also recording was not automatic even when set. Fixed all problems myself (formatting SD card in goggles was part of it) except the low power thing and just thought I have to live with it always on full power when plugged in. Tried again after watching this video and checked everything, played with my OSD in betaflight and now everything works perfectly. If you asked how did I fix it, I have no answer. Vista has FCC hack and goggles 1200wm hack. Good video JB, it helped me understand a couple of things and prompted me to try again and I'm glad I did. Now sell me a vista kit from your stash please! 😋
9:21 LOL. its probably bcz Joshua bought all the Vistas . But real question is : when goggles v2 will have a fix : why goggles doesn't remember your quad when you switch from DJI digital FPV system and back to your custom drone with Vista . Joshua you are the man. I just had this issue past few days haha. Edit, also worth checking if the cable on airunit is plugged in properly, mine partially unplugged after crash and then I had this issue.
I'm gettign unlocked when I arm, but I'm not seeing vbat and my osd battery cell voltage remains at 0.00 - I've checked that my rx and tx wires are correct. I don't have any continuaity between the rx and tx pads either. Anything else it could be?
I'm running an air unit in a RC truck. No flight controller. I just run positive and negative to air unit and I have a fan blowing on it to keep it cool. What can I do to see the battery voltage in my goggles? Would hooking the yellow wire to battery positive do the trick?
I was told by caddx that even if I have the temp off, and power at max. The vista will stay at low power, and not go to full power AS LONG as you don't plug the googles in. Once you plug the googles in, it allows the output power to go to max. So if your trying to get a GPS lock, and your vista is set at max, just don't plug in the googles till you have satillites.
Or you can just manually set the goggles to the lowest output power during the wait. Then set it to full output when you are ready to fly. Its only takes 10 seconds to go through the menu so its not a big deal.
I just tried out the used goggles 2, not v2 but the smaller goggles 2, and on the drone with the caddx vista, I can't get 50 feet away before it goes from 50mbs to 8mbs then loses all video. What is going on there?
I want to use air unit 03 with a rc truck. This has no fc. Can the dji air unit o3 as of today arm correctly without a fc? Can you uncheck temp protection and it will arm full power ?
I have come to the same issue on a built and don't know what to do. Using a GepRC F722 Dual FC. Didn't know it doesn't support DJI sutff so I'm using an iflight Bec to get power to the air unit. Everything work but the problem is I'm not getting the red unlock window, and also on the lower left the signal for the quad only reaches one red bar. I've checked that my solder is correct, Yellow > R2, White > T1, Grey> R1. That leave me with red, black and brown. I've solder both the brown & Black together and grounded it to the Bec and Red wire in on the Bec 5v-12v out. In Betaflight I've set Uart 2 as the serial and Uart 1 as the MSP. Did I miss something????
Another potential cause for N/A in goggle vbat is a broken current sensor on the flight controller. I also don't get a voltage reading in betaflight with this problem. Just figured I'd drop a comment in case anyone tries all the fixes in this video but still don't see vbat.
Thanks, Joshua, I have had this problem too, everything was showing up, VBat, unlock, OSD, but I got short range I had to turn off temp control. to make it work for me. I don't feel crazy anymore
I used the T4 and R4 pads didn’t work So I soldered to TX and RX idk if they are the same type of pads but The other pad didn’t work right but it was worth the time figuring out the quality on the camera is amazing also the stick inputs to bring up the PIDs worked on the vista then stopped after opening my PIDs up with the googles Idk if that cause an error with the stick but it’s weird
@joshuabardwell hellohello, I am struggeling for weeks now. I found out that my vista is broken. Though I also got the air unit that powers on full power 120, but does not show Voltage. MSP is on wiring double triple checked. I'm frustrated…
theres a guide on youtube to find and remove the burned diodes to fix the no osd problem on vista.. bud sadly no such guide for the air unit.. hopefully the mighty knows it all Joshua can guide us and fix the air unit problem.
Other than opening the case and locating the diodes, the same process should apply. Even the replacement diode's, which may not be the exact same part, would very likely still work.
@@TERBANGFPV diodes have the same characteristics as fuses and, like most fuses, you have a bit of leeway in spec, depending on the application. There's a zillion types of diodes out there. What's the link to the thread?
I dunk my quad in a pond. The caddx vista "survived" (video still works), but I lost MSP connectivity. (N/A battery and so on). I meassured continuity and resistance and it checks out. Any idea what else could have happened? Is there anything else than blowing up the diodes that could cause the same behaviour?
I don’t have osd on 3 vistas and 1 AU. They all blew and I have caps on all 4. 2 are on 6s and 2 on 4s. I just have my crossfire call out my voltage every 30 seconds. I’m used to it now it’s weird when I have osd now lol
Every thing is good with my quad it showes that it unlock and show the voltage but the range still sucks 50 to 100 meter away in open area it lost connection...what maybe could it bee.? Maybe the antenas? I use the standard dji antena
Thank you for the video JB, Greta explaini g as always! Been having issues with the range and no drone battery V for a while. Ive tried everything on this video... And unfortunately no luck. But at least I can fly on full power now!
ia cant go further tham a 500 meters with truRC stubies . DJI on 1000W auto temp focus mode , good VLOS. three diferent quads , 3 inches , 5 inches and now a 7 inches with crossfire.
Are you 100% that they won’t over heat and damage themselves? Cause I bought a brand new vista turned off temp control and all was working fine. I plugged in my kwad and someone needed my help and I got distracted for 10-15min and when I came back and check my goggles my camera looked like I was looking through a screen door. Tried to fly and it wouldn’t fly further than 20 ft without loosing signal and locking up. I swapped camera and still the same. Swapped vista unit and kept the same camera and all was good again. That vista unit is fried. Again it was brand new only test hovered never flown and it had been working perfectly. Now it’s trashed.
I couldn't fly with temp control on. It would almost immediately go into protection mode, and if I could start flying quickly enough it would still come on while flying and I would loose video really close. But I avoid letting it sit on without flying so it doesn't burn up.
I do want to clarify for future readers. I did turn of temp control on my unit under my own accord way before this video came out. And in no way was this Joshua’s fault or am I blaming him. I also believe that once you turn off temp control the unit can damage itself. As for temp control I would leave it on durning high heat months and maybe only disable it during the cooler months. However be aware your settings while also making repairs and updates on the bench. If temp control is off maybe turn it on also reduce output power to 25mw.

I want to use air unit 03 with a rc truck. This has no fc. Can the dji air unit o3 as of today arm correctly without a fc? Can you uncheck temp protection and it will arm full power ?
What if you want to use it on an RC truck and need flight controllers?
I wonder if you could use an E-fuse as a voltage spike protector. They auto reset and they're lightning fast.
I don't feel crazy anymore
im only missing the battery info. I can't figure it out and its so frustrating.
oh man. that Vista flex 😂 savage
@@RichardAFPV no one found the diodes on air unit.
Sir...
That battery N/A in OSD. Is it wire to fc or no?
Joshua u is the man I wondered what the N/A stood for that temp control is getting turned off 👍
Lol! You the best Joshua. Vista shortage . Love it . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤙🏼
I get terrible range on my fpv controller but goggles seem fine, which is weird because it's normally video the goes out first over RC link
Was literally just having this issue yesterday like wtf. Thanks so much
Hi Joshua, I have a question, I cannot find that device setting in my google. Can you help me?
2:39 Please tell me how can I get this ESC startup beep?
ruclips.net/video/WuaJNxTUc8o/видео.html
So is there a guide on how to remove or replace that diode somewhere?
Am I right? If you turn off Auto Temp control, you'll be able to flight far, as unlock the full power BUT you still can't see the OSD and record DVR ?
When he turned that drone on, did it make a Pacman sound effect? 😀
Caddx have two GND, always connect both? I not use DJI radio. I use tango 2.
I don’t have osd on 3 vistas and 1 AU. They all blew and I have caps on all 4. 2 are on 6s and 2 on 4s. I just have my crossfire call out my voltage every 30 seconds. I’m used to it now it’s weird when I have osd now lol
Great video as usual.
Anything similar for O3 with low range flying in open space without interference like power lines or GSM...
Does Vbat still not work after turning on temp protection?
I'm having Short range issues as well. But i'm using it in a RC unit with a PMW crossfire receiver . Do you have any videos on that?
What when i see unlocked, but Voltage N/A? Thanks for ur Videos!
Every thing is good with my quad it showes that it unlock and show the voltage but the range still sucks 50 to 100 meter away in open area it lost connection...what maybe could it bee.? Maybe the antenas? I use the standard dji antena
Right on thanks for the help JB 🙏 finally getting to try dji for the first time with all used gear from FB marketplace cheers
Thank you for the video JB, Greta explaini g as always!
Been having issues with the range and no drone battery V for a while. Ive tried everything on this video... And unfortunately no luck. But at least I can fly on full power now!
Hey buddy, that option is greyed out on my DJI settings. Is that because i am in EU?
Great video. Would never have found what happens to my Signal if it weren't fro you. Thanks Joshua
my goggles are in this mode.. when i fly my drone like this my drone falls out of the sky.. could this be the issue?
ia cant go further tham a 500 meters with truRC stubies . DJI on 1000W auto temp focus mode , good VLOS.
three diferent quads , 3 inches , 5 inches and now a 7 inches with crossfire.
Excellent, Joshua! Thanks a lot! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Dzięki, kolejny Twój film pomógł mi rozwiązać problem:)
Hi , the low power issue happened to me yesterday. I had the MSP wrong on betaflight. It took me a while to discover it..thx great video!!
I mean I guess nothing is impossible.
