For me the Shield Plus is the right blend of compromise, between size, capacity, shoot ability and results. I’ve owned the G48 and 365. Just represents the best it can be with all things considered
My current EDC pistol is my Glock G48 which in my personal opinion is a fantastic conceal carry pistol. I just put a Shield Plus on lay away. Can’t wait to pick it up. I plan on rotating carry between my G48 and my Shield Plus!!
@@thomaspalmer7900I owned a 43x but after getting the shield plus and taking it to the range a few times I sold my 43x. The shield plus, for me is damn near the perfect EDC pistol and I got it for 380 out the door.
Glocks slim line pistols are falling behind in a lot of ways. I had issues with my shield mags and never trusted them so the added capacity/mag options is a huge plus. Lol see what I did there?
Even my wife and mom liked it so much they plan on buying one for carry.
@@nickallen8333 I used to own a Shield .45 and loved it!!I still like the G48 but I also own and carry a Glock G30 and it’s a cannon!!
@@thomaspalmer7900 haha yea I bet it is. The gen 5 19 is my go to pistol. Love Glock.
Haven't watched your channel for quite a while now but came across this one today. I have fond memories of watching you when you first started way back when you were at the gun store with the older gentleman who has since passed on. I was really pleased to see you now have over 2.5 million subscribers WOW!! Thats not easy to do. congrats on your success. Stay safe..be well!!
This is the most COMFORTABLE CCW on the market today! feels so good on the hand and it shoots beautifully....... if you are on the fence on this one, get one
I personally like the p365
I'd say it's the CZ P10S, but the S&W Plus does feel good too
@@superstatus2640 I own both, I prefer the Shield, the P10 subcompact is chunkier...
@@BIGWHIT76 Good for you! I love mine...just feels right on my hands
i purchased my first firearm today (just a handgun for the house), and this review helped me a lot. thanks, guys.
NEAT!
Will you take my right kidney for a S&W Model 19 Carry Comp? I kinda need the left one though :/
Have him do your background music. He rips on guitar.
My favorite carry gun. They nailed it with this pistol.
Ahhh Eric’s goin the Slavic route with the adidas top
😂
I've owned, carried and shot many different pistols in various sizes and calibers, and the Shield Plus is easily my favorite. Comfortable to carry, ergos are excellent, and is a smooth shooter. Nice review, Eric. Thanks.
how about the accuracy?
I went to my local range yesterday to try this out along with the p365 and totally agree. I was shocked with how comfortable and accurate it shot (even compared to a bunch of full sized guns I’ve shot)! And the trigger really is excellent imo-probably the biggest reason for its accuracy. I ordered one when I got home and am looking forward to getting it and finally having not only a gun for CCW, but a great one.
I love my Shield Plus. Not only is it a great shooter, it carry's very comfortably all day.
I fell asleep once accidentally after work in appendix carry with mine an yes round in chamber safety off, still a got a good nap
Felt a plus after just having shot the standard shield and the grip does not feel considerably thicker to me. The upgraded trigger is worth it's weight in gold. The hinged trigger is fine and can be trained to get good with... But a flat face trigger is in another realm.
Yeah, I've shot the older/original Shield and didn't really like the trigger at all on it...I also didn't like how narrow the grip was compared to how wide, forward to back, it was...just seemed weird in the hand. I'm really interested in this version, better trigger and slightly wider may actually feel better in the hand.
@@PreppinShootinLivin Highly recommend grabbing one. I have regular sized hands and the standard shield is a bit narrow for my hands too, and the forward set trigger I actually like. Having a trigger pull too far back into the grip is the worst trigger to try to shoot accurately.
@Steve H Well, of course....i wasn't arguing it wasn't supposed to be that way...just that it doesn't feel right(to me) in the hand when shooting....I like to shoot my guns often at the range...that gun just felt weird in the hand....plus the trigger was kinda meh. If this new version is slightly thicker and has a better trigger....sign me up.
@@PreppinShootinLivin I wonder how the magazine release BC I do not like when it gets hit and you have to watch your hand from hitting it especially with big hands
I recognize you from armwrestling comments lol.
i've been waching a number of gun guys on yt. and i must say: you're the best shooter i've seen. accurate af, fast and determined. keep it up.
It's amazing how they made the grip only 1/16" wider and went from 7 and 8 to 10 and 13 rounders.
and now a 15 rounder.
Bought the Shield Plus when it first came out, but man now I want the one with slide cut and night sights from the factory. Great to see you again on video!
I bought a Shield for my wife, I like my G 26 for sub compact. The finish and trigger on the Shield is very good.
I carry a Shield Plus Performance Center. Shes ported and fires smoothly. First round i fired was dead on at 50yrds. Made my day hearing that steal ring.
I have a Performance Center Shield Plus with a ported barrel and love it!
Me too. Best shooter out of the box and super comfortable edc.
Awesome shooting with a compact pistol. Clearly you enjoy what you do it shows thanks.
I got this gun, after carrying the sheild 1st gen for years. I love this gun, it just shoots nice. Great trigger.
Got a 4.1" barrel performance center version the week they came out...stupidly the best carry gun I've ever owned. 1200+ rounds in with nothing but one squib that cleared just fine
This and the 365 xl are the top dogs.
That extra barrel/slide length makes it easier to carry IWB, and more shootable.
Definitely a great gun. After three S&W Shields over the years, I definitely bumped up to the Plus and not looking back. It's about as comfortable a carry as you'll find AND has enough real estate to get ahold of.
Will have to pick one up someday! Have owned 3 different shield models in the past, and this new series is impressive.
@@runningbear6391 light on a CCW? OK.
Cody alford is a machine. Can’t wait to hear this one
Have a 365, had to install a Hogue sleeve grip on it to make it feel right in my hand. The S&W Shield Plus feels great without any additions.
I just got my shield plus today. I’ve been wanting this bad boy for awhile now. Can’t wait to shoot. Great video. Thanks
I have been looking at this pistol. Almost bought the original Shield years ago, but capacity was a no go, opted for the Ruger SR9c 10 and 17 round mags was the deciding factor. Plus, the SR9c is a shooter, for me, I can hit what I'm aiming at. Both are similar in size, the Ruger having a longer barrel by 0.3", the Ruger is 0.3 wider and about 2.6 ounces heavier than the original Shield. Now the Shield Plus comes out and compared to the original Shield they are almost identical, the Plus is 0.6 ounces lighter and 0.15" wider (per HandgonHero gun compare). I think the Plus is going to be a winner. I have shot the original Shields and liked them a lot and I can hit with them too. Had the Plus been around back when I bought the SR9c, I probably would have bought the Shield instead.
I have a S&W Shield 9mm and replaced the Henge Trigger with a Hyve Monarch Trigger (flat face). A very real improvement. I now also have a S&W 9mm Shield Plus.. With the new Trigger the Shield shoots as good as my Shield Plus. I am keeping Both. Also The Equalizer 15 round mags fits the Shield Plus. I also replaced the Barrels with Threaded Barrels.3 5.8 inch. Better lock up and a Great improvement.
I've got four of the shields one in 40 cal and I've got two of The Shield pluses and I really like them I carry the shield plus every single day very comfortable to carry my wife carries her Shield Plus in her purse we both really enjoy them outstanding little guns
Pretty much the ultimate carry gun. I carry 2 of these in the summer but in the winter I still prefer a 2.0 compact or full-size M&P
you carry 2 guns?
@@humanimal5527 That’s what I said.
The shield plus is one of my top 2 ccw guns. I also have a hellcat osp. I love the feel of both guns in my hand. Extremely comfortable.
Thank you very much for a great review. I just ordered an optics ready version of the Shield Plus and looking forward to shooting it.
Been looking at one of these for a while now. I carry a full sized M&P 1st gen so i feel like this will be exceptional for me. Cant wait to pick one up!
The trigger upgrade alone is worth it.
I love my Shield Plus, I would love to have a range like your.
I sure wish I had waited till they put out the optics ready version, but I’m still VERY pleased with the normal new “plus” version! I bought one the first month they came out, and the price for the “performance center” was pretty high.
Carried this gun for a while now. Love it. Super comfortable to shoot and carry
I love my S&W M&P 9 Shield EZ. Packs lots of power with the Winchester 9mm 115 grain rounds.
I picked this up when it first came out and I love it. Only issue was lack of mags when it first came out, and the 13 having issues getting the last round in the mag. But it’s possible, just difficult on some mags
I'm an M&P Fan. I do occasionally, carry the M&P Shield Plus, Three Inch version. It's a fun Gun! Cool video!
Just got back from the range with my S&W M&P shield 2.0! What a treat!
It took a while to get used to the sights (standard metal w/white dot) they feel slightly high to me. Never the less 1,000 + rounds no malfunction. Really pressed to buying the shield plus.. but I’ll wait till the next latest and greatest from them. My 2.0 shield is a absolute beast. I trust my life with it as I carry it every day! Great video brotha!! 🤙🏼
Yes, I had to aim with the front sight slightly higher than the rear sight. Not a big deal. My favorite now over CZ85, CSX and Ruger LCP. The no safety with the 15 round mag works for me.
Waiting for the .45 version !
Just got rid of a 365XL and procured one of these. Very happy with it so far. The Sig was a great gun but its grip was too small. I’m 6’6” and have kinda large hands.
Sold my custom built 43x after I got the sheild plus. For a big guy it's WAY MORE COMFORTABLE to carry everyday and it's a better shooter out of the box. And even better with some trijicon hds
Been waiting for this review from you. I bought this as soon as it came out and it is by FAR my favorite musket. I shoot it better than anything fullsize.
The PC Shield Plus with 4" barrel and optics cut is the gabbagool
Just shot my PC plus yesterday, unfortunately the optics cut version wasn't available from the place I bought mine. Either way, it's fantastic. Recoil feels like a much heavier gun.
I have the PC Shield Plus 3.1, but the one you have will be my next one.
I like the plus a lot, the texture is a little more aggressive than I like but that’s fixable. The slightly large size of the grip is more comfortable and the finish on the slide is improved. The trigger in better than my OG shields but the reset is marginal at best.
I haven’t shot the Shield, but I love my 43x with an Overwatch trigger and the Shield Gen 2 15 rounders.
I've got the performance center ported barrel 9mm shield....shoots straight.
Cant wait ti buy one! I love my standard shield but this seems like a definite upgrade
I have the single stack Shield 2.0. I chose it over the P365 and G43 because I have large hands. It simply fit me the best when I held all three side by side.
You get the night sights and optics cutouts for $50 more than the standard. GREAT DEAL!
I bought my shield plus right as it came out and it was my first brand spankin new gun. Bought a TLR-6 and got a kusiak holster within hours of purchasing. I also had the hellcat, the performance center shield and the sig to compare with each other, in the end the shield won.
My friend has the Hellcat and I’ve run over 500 rds on it. I don’t like it. I’ll stick with my shield. The plus is my 3rd shield. Enough said.
We need another Meltdown 😃😅
This is a great little pistol for sure. 124 gr rounds are a good match for it.
I love my single stack Shield the first gen. IV888 love your channel I have been a fan for years now. Happy Holidays to you are yours.
Thanks Eric you just made up my mind I’m going to grab one after all you said plus I love smith & Wesson firearms high from Washington state thanks for what you do
Keep up with the videos mate keeps me going on a long work day
Installed an Apex trigger kit on mine. The stock setup had a weak reset before I added Apex trigger kit. Apex Tactical says that the shield 2.0 kit will fit on the shield plus. Also I installed Trijicon night sights.
I’ve been looking for confirmation on this! Thank you!!
Thanks for the tip. The only thing that I'm "meh" about with my Shield Plus is the reset.
@@runningbear6391 Good point!
In their max capacity configs the Shield Plus is not much bigger than a PPS M2. 13 + 1 vs 7 + 1. In low config the PPS is smaller. Had 6 failures in first 100 rounds with PPS and higher cap mag purchased after was a real problem. Zero failures with Shield Plus. New flat trigger on Shield is a huge improvement.
PPS is in storage now.
I’d love to see if they could do this exact gun as hammer fired. Now that…that would be the perfect carry gun.
the shield EZ is actually hammer-fired, but the hammer is obscured inside the frame.
The Shield 380/9mm EZ is a hammer fired I would love to a Shield EZ Plus ??
@@kuzz7919 not sure what you are asking there. They do not make the EZ plus as of right now. I figure they will probably change that in a year or two, but nothing official that I have heard.
@@nickc7320 Sorry for being unclear I hope someday they make a 9mm EZ Plus .
@@kuzz7919 Yeah I honestly don't see why they wouldn't. It's the direction that everything is going. They do like to say that the EZ is easier for folks with weak hands to load which would be directly impacted by a double stack, but they could just include a loading tool to help.
One of the best Carry guns period.
I love the new Shield Plus. Good video
I like shield but have the last model but I really like it. I feel the hellcat is similar so I like it too. But shield I found a metal clip for hanging on your belt and it’s nice. No extra crap on your belt just clip on and role out
“This thing is a bullet delivery device……” IV8888
I like the way he looks down at the end of the table.. EVERYTIME.. MAKE SURE he doesn't step over the LINE...!!! HOWEVER.. I carried a SINGLE STACK 40cal. For 7/8 years & loved it.. I just wanted to move to a 4" barell for the VELOCITY/ EXPANSION
Camera needs to be positioned a couple of feet to the right to capture shots on the steel plates on the left side of the range, and probably back a foot as well to keep a single camera position (much, MUCH preferred to a moving camera position) and still keep Eric in view. :) Thanks for you excellent content from the gun controlled UK.!
I love the trigger on this thing. That is why I bought it
I’ve had a lot of light primer strikes!!! Took same rounds into Sig all same rounds went bang
Went with the p365xl magguts 14rd mag kit for daily carry and its a beauty
They are great guns
Siete fantastici ragazzi... continuate così
Love my shield +
Excellent review! thinking of picking this one up myself instead of a Glock 19
Excellent shooting and presentation. I love my 2.0 but eyeing this for use with an optic. @12:07 nice work dispatching the rabid midget :D
This is the only gun I’m excited about lately. I’ve been running the same boring ass Gen3 G19 for the past 20yrs.
Another excellent review! I've been rocking with the OG shield for 5 plus years....first pistol, now I gotta get this one lol....picked up a used gen 4 g26 w extra goodies but I feel like I missed out on this one lol
Needs to come in 10 mm next like the 2.0 model
I was debating getting one of these with the red dot sight base as something a little smaller than my 19 to carry.
This Is my next handgun! I've had a difficult time finding one with factory night sights at a decent price though.......
I can't wait to get my hands on the new 10mm and 9mm optic ready
Waiting on the 10 myself, hope they come out soon
I want a 10mm too.
I want the 10 but I’m worried I won’t find or afford the ammo
Eric as much as I like your videos this one is about 6 months late. You need to to talk to your Smith rep so you can get there guns a lot sooner than they gave you this one. I've had the Shield Plus PC for a while now and I consider it the best of the small carry guns. It has low recoil compared to the rest and is easy to keep on target considering it size. I also found it very flat shooting. Great little pocket rocket !
I gotta say when looking for this gun I chose it over a shield 2.0 simply for the trigger not the capacity.
I love my new plus I've been a m&p man sense the gen 1 never have had 1 miss fire ,jams or fell to extract
Yeah, I'm sold!
Picked up the 4” performance center and wow.
The shield plus trigger assembly fits into the original shield. I already upgraded mine.
Where did you purchase it?

New range looks great boys
I have one. I love it. uber happy. Main carry squeeze
I HAVE A SHIELD PLUS AND IT MAKE ME LOOKS GOOD.

The trigger on the Shield Plus is much better than the 365. I have several striker pistols some of them have aftermarket triggers and the Shield Plus has the best trigger of the bunch.
It’s such an awesome gun…
Love to see this channel review the Ruger Max 9
Love my shield plus!
go John go!
Those are very solid feeling.
I bought one a few days ago because the shooting range I go to regularly gave me an absurd deal on one due to some unique circumstances (like 370$). I had been in the market for a CCW pistol and tried them all and had narrowed it down to either the Shield 45 / Plus or a Sig 365 XL after trying them all out. My only real complaint with it is that the safety is both very small and very stiff which makes it difficult to manipulate, and the plunger in the trigger safety is so wide that it doesn't feel like it does a good job of prevent accidental trigger engagement. I usually like thumb safeties because you can easily train to turn them off when you draw a pistol and I like the redundancy but It is very difficult to manipulate to the point where I am not sure if I would ever be comfortable using it while carrying, if they sold an extended lever so you could get enough purchase to easily push it into the fire position from a shooting grip without having to do weird hand manipulations I would 100% buy one.
I own two. Both of my safety's were quite stiff. Both are now extremely easy to manipulate after dry-fire practice and range time. I think if you work at it for a while it will do the same. Actuate it like a 1000 times to get er loosened up.
They are so easy to manipulate now that my natural draw de-actuates them without any effort, conscious or otherwise.
Like Alec Baldwin not pulling the trigger. No offense intended to you.
Got the original sheild in 40 but a 10 mm would be awesome
It’s coming , look on RUclips
@@freddiedorris3788 I never saw it but I’ll take your word for it
