UNITED STATES MARINE: (From Boy to Man/Husband/Father, to Grandfather)
50 years ago was my (3rd) third Non-Violent/Victimless DUI ... (Simple pullover arrests!)
All offenses were VOID OF VICTIM, INCIDENT, ACCIDENT, and DAMAGED PARTY.
After serving (6) years as a front-line Marine during the Iranian crisis (1979), (Before having a wife, children, and grandchildren) returning to civilian life (Honorable Discharge) was difficult...
Can the Bruen decision help this 67-year-old United States Marine regain his gun right for family and home protection after 50 defenseless, prohibited years?
When DUI arrests have NO victim, NO incident, NO accident, and NO damaged party, the 2nd Amendment "Right/Privilege" should never rightfully be "eternally abrogated", ever!

Did so because I am severely handicapped by the Polio virus, could not make a living, and they wrongly refused me disability (I did end up getting it). This was the late 80''s, 3 months county time. Not being able to run in itself puts me in a precarious situation, and I'd feel a lot safer with a gun, not to mention hunting.

The elephant in the room is the fact that no other right is treated as having “permission”. If the government can take away a “right”, it isn’t really a “right”, is it? Why not take away the right to free speech for someone who was imprisoned for inciting violence? You can form whatever opinion you want about a lion, whether he has attacked people, hunted prey, etc., but the lion’s natural state is one of being equipped to fend for itself. The lion can be caught and/or killed, and yet the natural “right” of the lion to have teeth and claws is not diminished. Man’s nature is innovation, firearms being just one example of that. If “rights” are dependent on the government’s blessing, we are all wards of the state.

I'm a big 2A supporter, but the difference between me and most other 2A folks is that I actually have read the entire Second Amendment, the Federalist Papers, and am a student of history.
Sorry, but the fact is, when the Second Amendment was debated the issue was less individual's rights but more the rights of each state to resist Federal encroachment and intrusion.
So, each state gets to determine how to regulate it's militia.
To push across the board is to weaken state's powers and strengthen Federal omnipotence.
It was intended that each state could determine it's own way to regulate firearms.

@@JD-tn5lz Yeah, making claims of authority because you're posturing as a subject matter expert is not an argument. You'd be surprised to know that other people have studied those same issues, in much greater depth, and have come to the opposite conclusion. The People and the militia were synonymous terms within that context. You're trying to say the forest can be armed, but not the individual trees. Secondly, my argument from first principles does not rely on the constitution for validation. It stands independently.

dear, google bintac T9 airgun tactical.
it is an air pistol .357 cal, then google edgun west .356 exploding slugs. they will fit. be free to protect your self dear.
vever 4500psi hpa compresser pcp autostop.
that fills the tank if you do not wish to use a hand hpa air pump. which on a 4500psi airgun is a little difficult.
cheaper compressers are available but do not have autostop. just google pcp hpa 4500psi compresser. they come as low as $70 bucks but those are a kinda pain . buckets of water to cool them. the vever stops at a preselected pressure and only uses a fan and is 110v wall plug in or connects to the car battery.
it is $250. so the air pistol is 899+air compresser 250+projectiles . regular ones are 120projectiles for 30 bucks the exploding ones 100 bucks for 60 projectiles.
1200 bucks and you get a semi auto pistol that can shoot 20 shots without refilling and each shot can end a threat.
be free and do not let them make you feel that you cannot protect yourself.
i have several .51 caliber air rifles that reallk kick butt. thousands of rounds in several calibers, just no gunpowder cases, primers none of that , it is useless to us. but air. the air is free here maam.
i live in grand prairie tx.
and if you near you may train and find one that suits you without it costing ya a dime. then you will know what to set a goal for.
you can also google airgun shop near me. most of them will let you try some of their merchandise out.
it is that simple , and air rifles are not regulated by the federal government and i only know of illinois that treats air guns as firearms.
but i live in texas, i use .51 cal and i have supressers on every one. shoot them right here in my back yard in the middle of the city , i just do it safely. responsibly. and with respect to others.
smiles. hope this helps you emotionally and mentally.

My “conviction” was considered violent. I was wrongfully convicted but I don’t and have never played victim. I made life work and carved my own path. That said I’m not sure if I can still own a firearm due to my charge being “violent.” It’s extremely frustrating because I have a home and family to protect. I’m going to contact my attorney and give it a shot. But it may not work. It would be ashamed to be punished for life for defending myself with my fists 22 years ago.

Also, I live in a small Florida town where almost everyone has guns, they love guns here, my county is even a a sanctuary county so if the AR was ever outlawed the county I live in wouldn't recognize that law and allow you to still own one. With all that being said, I moved here from Chicago thinking it would be safer, but my small Florida community has had more homicides since I've lived here than the gang infested Chicago neighborhood I moved here from, I think law abiding citizens owning guns is great, I love the second amendment, but the hard truth is having so many guns leads to more people using them. Here it isn't gang members shooting each other, it's your average citizen who may have had too much to drink, senior citizens suffering from dementia, scorned spouses who find their significant other cheating on them, neighbors fighting one another, and the biggest of all ROAD RAGE. Criminality is a side effect of other social issues, it doesn't matter how many people are armed, because as long as there are those social issues there will be criminality. Some places may be safer with more guns but as long as there are people struggling to eat or suffering from mental health issues, or any other problems that would drive someone to break the law, there will still be criminality, doesn't matter if everyone is armed or not. The larger the wealth gap, the more crime, because there are less opportunities to feed yourself and your family, and most people's survival instincts will force them to do whatever they need to not to starve...

In WA state most convicted felons can get their gun rights back after a certain period of time. It's mainly the worst class A violent felons and sex offenders that can't get their rights back. They have to wait a 5-10 year "wash out" period depending on the felony.

Every founding father was an insurrectionist to their English government and would definitely have been classified as felons for their use of military technology against a governmental body. It is a right, not a privilege.
If you feel uncomfortable for someone of a different political position, ethnicity, or religious beliefs to own a machine gun, silencer, or anything you wish you had then you don’t deserve them either.
We have lost the idea of not hurting someone because it is wrong, not because it is a crime. If everyone had a gun and knew how to use it, I very much believe people could have machine guns in their home and never use it for wrong doing.

  • @waimanyu2782

I think it should be case by case due to the fact self defense can be a felony in certain states( VA,CA, ECT) or even worse you are defending your family from a intruder, you send that intruder to his maker and now your convicted of murder because you deemed your families lives more important than a person committing a crime so now your a violent felon with a murder charge

Exactly. Laws don’t matter. Bad guys will desire and acquire guns regardless of how the rest of us feel about who “should” and “shouldn’t”. Only thing that should prohibit firearms is mental incompetence. A lot of people are dumb but few are mentally handicapped. Honestly, the system we have now that is organic is better than we give it credit for. people who are unstable are generally afraid of firearms and tend to stay away from them. there’s only some overlap with people that are dumb and confident that cause havoc with guns. And straight up intelligent evil. But gun laws aren’t effective to control those later two groups.

I got stupid in late 70's, ended up with a five yr prison stint. Got out in 84, straight to a truck driving job. Got an early release from parole for staying on track. Been driving truck since. Getting ready to retire after 40 yrs of it. And still cant vote, or own a firearm. I am still being held back by my past, and that was 45 yrs ago !! Couldnt get hired for specialty load carriers, or any govt loads. And thats with a perfect driving record ! As dangerous as this world is becoming, it would be nice to be able to have some personal protection when needed !

The issue should be that the right to bear arms is a human right. Whoever you are, you there reading this comment, YOU have the right to arm yourself. There should never have been any limits on this placed by any government for any reason, because it's fiction. Do I trust someone who once shoplifted a pack of cigarettes to own a gun? No, and that's why I carry one.

This is America right? If it really is as free as people say it is, then I should be able to bear arms like everyone else.

The whole system is contradictory. Like, a felon is too dangerous to be allowed to own a firearm legally, yet they are perfectly safe enough to walk the streets with you and me. If the government deems them a risk to own a firearm, that means they are a risk to society and what the hell are they walking the streets for? If a dangerous inmate can take a month to make a weapon in prison with extreme patience, it's 10 times easier for them to simply acquire a firearm illegally on the outside. The whole system is whack.

Most people have BS charges.... called "additional charges" .... 99% of the time if you do something and they catch you and charge you, they slap on innumerable additional charges just to intimidate and harass the defendant into pleading guilty to something less than the whole slate of charges. Happens almost every time and often some of those bs charges remain as part of the plea deal, often just to kick it up to felony.
