As an Adult Protective Services Investigator who works with the victims after the scam has occurred, I find this sort of thing extremely cathartic. 90% of the time there is nothing that can be done from a legal standpoint which adds to the sense of shame and confusion the victims experience. What he said about Anydesk early in the call, that telling the scammer legitimizes him as a victim, is very very true for the reasons he indicated and what I appreciated most about this video. It's easy to blame the victim in situations like this, but we need to remember that fear and a sense of emergency can go a long way to subverting the part of your brain that makes logical decisions. Additionally, the ability to manage finances is often one of the first things we struggle with as we age, especially when dementia and other impairments are involved. So long story short... this is amazing and I've started referring clients to content like this as they get a little catharsis from watching the scammers get paid back as well.

I am in my 60s and this exact scam was tried on me. It started with a huge image on my screen that looked to me like a Microsoft message stating that I had been hacked. I was instructed to call a toll-free number. First, I spoke with a woman who stated she was a Microsoft customer service agent. Just as in this video, she soon transferred me to a man who identified himself as my bank's customer service rep. They were working the scam together. Everything described in this video happened to me. Except I was kept on the phone by my bank's supposed customer service rep. I was told to talk to no one, anyone in my home, my neighbors because they could have been the hackers! I was to trust no one. As I was leaving, my daughter was just coming home and asked me where I was going in such a hurry and I told her what they told me: that all the pcs in the house had been hacked, and our phones had been hacked, too. I was so afraid of losing half my life savings to a child porn charge to my account! She asked me what she should do and I told her to call her bank. The whole time I was on the phone with the scammer rushing to the bank in an Uber, I sat terrified in the car, envisioning losing half of what little I have saved as a semi-retired, disabled senior. I was also afraid that the FBI would come and arrest me for buying child pornography and the scammer really played into that. What will your friends think? What will your family say? Will it be in your local paper? I was so upset and this scammer KNEW IT!! These people are SADISTIC! After withdrawing the money, I was supposed to transfer it into a "safe" account. He was going to give me the account number to use as soon as I withdrew my money. On my way to the bank, my daughter kept calling me. I was ignoring her because I was told to stay on the line by the scammer. Finally, I took her call just before I went into my bank. She told me it was a scam, to hang up and not withdraw any money. She finally convinced me. I hung up. They called me back. I blocked my number. They called from a different number. I blocked that and it happened again. So, I told them I knew it was a scam and they argued with me that it wasn't but eventually the scammers moved on. I spoke with a bank employee who checked my account which was still OK. I changed my account, my debit cards, and anything that they could have potentially accessed with the personal data I had given them. I still (@8 months later) have a freeze with all of the credit reporting agencies so that no one can take out a card or credit in my name. No financial damage seems to have happened. I took my computer into the tech store and had my pc checked out and cleaned up. When I told the IT tech what had happened he said, "Oh, the Microsoft scam," and apparently others had come to him with the same issue. The tech told me that my other computers in the home would not have been affected (the scammer had said that all the devices on my home's network had been hacked) Thank goodness, I took my daughter's call. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed afterward. I am not a stupid woman. Honestly! I am still upset by this. How can these folks live with themselves? They both tried to make small talk with me. Am I married? Am I working? How many children? I fell right into it and I trusted them. I thought that they were both such nice, friendly people. I am of a generation where many of us are not particularly computer savvy, and also we are quite trusting. Just thinking about it upsets me so much. Again, I say THESE FOLKS ARE SADISTIC!! I am so glad that this video may prevent someone else from being scammed. Thanks for making this video and for going after those rat bastards!
Im sorry this happened to you. makes me want to cry. you have a good daughter. if this ever happens to me or my mom i will just keep these guys on the phone for days thinking they are going to scam us lol
this is a big comment but I understand your pain.
its so sad
Tldr
i worked for IT tech and one day a lady showed up. She was really nervous with her phone out. She muted the phone nearly crying and told me the same story. She was on her way to the bank. she decided to stop by my computer store (luck for her store was on the way to the bank) and searched for help. i told her disconnect the internet bring me your pc and hung up the phone... i guess if she had not stoped by... money would be gone. sry for bad english. not my native language
Good that a people like you exist keep doing it you are a good man 🙂
Epic guys, first video i saw. and i LOVE IT!
I like their forced laughter every time they think they have the upper hand. It's like when a little kid tells a bad joke or bullies someone and laughs with friends, like who are you trying to convince, me or yourself? LOL
Well said.
As an Indian. I would like to apologise on the behalf of these jerks.
This is not India is. Our administration busts more than 10 centres each day.
We hope this will all be finished one day.
I am glad that there are guys like you.
Kudos to your work, man!
whenever you ask somebody what India associates to you ,it's always scams
Thank you for bringing that to light.

India is full of con artist
All races can be scammers don’t say sorry
love your videos man!!!!! God bless you all guys!!!
I like how you fixed the "there" to "their" on the hats lolol
My grandfather was once tricked by these people, I've been educating him on how online transactions work slowly so he won't be tricked again! We started with Papa John's and ordering his reading glasses online, and now he saves the calls to show me or other family members because he just finds it funny they're trying to scam him!
Keep up the good work!!
Did the scam take anything from him?
That's nice.. stay safe
My mummy, too. It was the CRA scam here in Canada. She was so upset she drove herself to the RCMP station to turn herself in.
@@Snow-xd4rv they took about $600 from him and his wife at the time.
How'd you order reading glasses from Papa John's?
You guys should start doing commercials on TV for the old people so that way they know who to contact. And thank you guys for doing what you do
I see stories in the news that touch on scans, but more in depth stories and even shows are needed to educate the public about this.
That's a great idea! Not all but a lot of older people watch the networks that play old TV shows. Put public service announcements on those networks. Probably get it for free or mostly free.
I could use him to uncover a scamming ring based in Lagos Nigeria with a network stretching through parts of the United States. They hacked my Instagram & hijacked while doing a bitcoin/Forex scam on me. They blew through all of Instagram so called security measures & apparatus!
Old people and kids are those who can be scammed the easiest. ALL scammers know that.
Yea old people are good Victim for them
You are a true super hero, god bless.
The way the guy said "you've already been scammed...." he was basically admitting he's a scammer.
You guys are the closest thing to a volunteerist protection system to exist. GOD bless you guys!
In this case, Brahma bless them.
He's closer to their God then they'll ever be.

They say "the fraudulent department" like they have other departments.
Jokes aside, it's really disheartening to see that some people still believe them even when the scammers *slam* such unsubtle clues on the table.
Elderly people don't hear well plus the accent.
Well, their department is fraudulent
Well the india accent is BIG red flag for me...
@@dot7107 problem with identifying based on accent here in Canada is that we are a nation of immigrants, so many people (including myself) have non-North American accents. Or they’re in Quebec and can have heavy Québécois accents. The difference is that instead of some standard ‘Caucasian dude’ name, people from your actual bank or wherever will almost always say their real name unless they have an anglicised one. Usually immigrants from mainland China choose an anglicised name (legitimately to make it easier) but those from India, Pakistan, etc. don’t. (Just personal observation on my part, not asserting fact.)
Scammers target them because they’re vulnerable and have money. I can’t really blame the elderly when the scammers are having them log into their legit online banking account and scheming with tactics like 5:28 (where they route the victim through their actual banks before bouncing them back to India)
15:21 Dude just got him there, the scammer was actually laughing because he was nervous and he got defeated, just to hide his defeat he was laughing.
The scammers always laugh because they're defeated for being losers. That's it.
He knew he got bamboozled
why put the time stamp after the clip you wanted others to see?
i just love how they accidentaly say things that shows they're scamming people lol, nice work Scammer payback
Love the video - thanks. One noob question: why is it: "delete there files" and not "delete their files"? Could you mean: "delete there them ol files" or was it really supposed to be "delete their files"?
Sad thing is, this is a drop in the bucket. There are millions of these douchebags. All scamming innocent folks. It would take 100 RUclipsrs like this guy to put a real dent in it. But, as long as one person gets saved from being scammed, this guy is a real hero to a lot of people who would've otherwise lost it all. So well done! 👍🏻
There's really not that many. They tend to congregate in about 3 Indian cities, and a couple buildings per city. Between Pierogi, Jim Browning, Kitboga, Trilogy Media, and a couple others, they are making a dent in these types of scams. They're not the only types. I work for a Fortune 200 company, and the scammers who scam our customers are much simpler. No Anydesk, they just promise an upgrade if they give a credit card. I'd love to know if it's the same centers.
On the plus side he's shown often that when he gets in and hits one of them their whole call centre panics and it often causes them to close the whole operation down for days or even move
These RUclipsrs once shut down all centers in india for about a week.
Also its not about how many scammers, its about how many people are aware of the scams.
There could be a billion scammers and it wouldnt matter as long as we are aware of the scams
@@gladsomeant how many old folks watch RUclips? Not many right? Just checking.
If only we can target them with air strikes..

@@emmanuelchipegomatiza7501 I just thought it really touching that your school had a fish, and that when the fish died people mourned it. It's sad but sweet.
@@ZiddersRooFurry Its hard to explain this to an outsider
But the fish had a deep sentimental value to the students here including me - i mean unlike some of the others, i used to feed it bread crumbs whenever i could
Think of 'Mafishi' as an urban legend. looking at it during exam period was a school tradition with the belief that you'd flunk the exam if you didn't
so when it died; we mourned but not with emotions like we'd mourn a human being
Part of it was school comedy really
