    I have a Shield. I don’t carry it much because the heel of the grip prints in work clothes for me but I can’t bring myself to sell it because it feels wrong doing that to a gun that’s ate 2,000 cheap rounds with zero malfunctions. Such a reliable gun.

    • @farstrider79

      I like the shields, but figured I'd have the same problem. I ended up buying a Glock 26 two years ago and I have a hard time concealing it also. Just waiting for all the panic buying to end so I can try a pocket .380.

      @@farstrider79 I carry my Ruger LCP 2 in my pocket every day at home. Its no different than a wallet or phone in my front pocket. Its very lightweight as I also looked a few others, such as the Beretta 3032. I'm happy with it. I had a Glock 42 that was a bit large (but ok as I'm 5'9") for pocket carry. I actually traded the 42 for the Ruger as my 42 had intermittent issues with defensive ammo...yes...I said it...a Glock that wasn't perfect. I had the unicorn 🙄.
      Anyway...I absolutely recommend the Ruger if you are looking for a dedicated pocket gun. Carries well with the extended mag with an IWB/appendix holster in summer as well.

      For me the Bodyguard was very unreliable with a malfunction almost every mag with good ammo. I traded it in for the Ruger lcp which had been 100% reliable with double the round count and a slightly smaller gun with a way better trigger also. But that was my experience with the bodyguard, you may have better luck.

    Just picked one up today. Always been a M&P fan ever since the original full size pistols. Even bought the bodyguard 380 before it was introduced to the M&P line. The nice part about the new shield plus is you can use the 13 round magazine at the range and carry the 10 round magazine for concealment although I would advise on purchasing 2 more 10 round magazines for everyday carry and practice magazine reloads. Also a UPLULA loader to save on your thumb 👍🇺🇸

      @@JohnW-yv6yp I agree. I also think R&D is expensive and time consuming for these companies. The gun companies spend millions of dollars and years of work on these designs before they come out. It's no small investment for them. So ... the 365 changed the game and 2-3 years later all the companies are catching up, which is exactly what happened during the "single stack nine" craze. Remember how pissed people were that Glock was 3 years late on that one? I think that's just the way it works.

    I traded my Ruger Security 9 in on the Shield Plus and I have no regrets what so ever. The M&P Shield Plus is much more comfortable to carry all day. It's so light I almost forget I have it on me. Now I did give up 2 rounds of capacity in the trade but I can live with that and it got me a great price out the door for my Shield Plus. The trigger is definitely smooth and it feeds everything I have put in it from 124 Grain FMJ to 124 Grain Speer Gold Dot to Federal HST 124 Grain Hollow Points. I'm very pleased and do recommend this pistol.

    Loving it. The Shield was my first carry gun, my wife and I both have a 1st generation and I have both a PC and a 2.0 as well. I’m a huge fan of the platform, shoot it better than any other subcompact, but have been searching for a higher capacity replacement. Bought a P365, had problems and sold it. I’ve tried a VP9SK and now carry a CZ P10S most days. No question that I’ll pick up a new Plus, I’m excited to give it a try.

    • @aaronmiles8286
      @aaronmiles8286 2 года назад

      What gun do you think has less felt recoil and shoots more accurately between the p 10s and the shield plus?

    • @nelsonstruewe4047
      @nelsonstruewe4047 2 года назад +1

      @@aaronmiles8286 I bought a Plus, one for myself and one for my wife. Love the gun, it’s everything I love in the platform with good capacity. But I have to admit, the P10S is a little bigger, slightly heavier gun and between the two, the CZ has less recoil than the Plus. Accuracy, they’re about the same. I shoot them both well and have good groups for my skill level with both. I found myself carrying the Plus most of the time through the summer and fall. It just conceals so easily with any dress. Now that it’s cooling off I have gone back to the CZ for one simple reason... the size of the trigger guard. It’s much larger on the P10S than the Plus. I wear gloves most every day and can handle the CZ easily with gloves where the trigger guard on the Shield is much smaller and, for me, I have a tough time fitting in a gloved finger without touching the trigger. That’s the only “flaw” with the Plus that affects me personally, handling with gloves. So I’ll likely carry the P10S until Spring, it conceals great in winter dress, and then go back to the Plus. I love both guns, they both run flawlessly and I shoot them both well but IMO the Plus is just a bit snappier than the CZ. I’ll also add that the CZ functions a little smoother than the Plus, even after about 2,000 rounds through the Plus. Not putting down any Shield, we all know they loosen up with use, but the P10S is just a very smooth gun out of the box. Truth is, I’m a big fan of both but because of ease of carry and concealment, I would likely carry the Plus year round if I didn’t wear gloves.

That gun has change my prospective and I purchased a gen 1 full size as well. The triggers are not great but usable and upgradable thanks to apex. I have never wanted to change my carry away from the shield as it is a great overall package. The plus having the extra capacity at the same size and a trigger similar to what the upgrade option is a winner. I’m hoping they will come out with a combo package with the 3 & 4 inch slides. Great review thank you.

      I know a lot of people criticize the Shield for having a stiff slide release. But I’ve only had a problem with it when trying to drop the slide on an empty chamber with an empty magazine. Trying to drop the slide using the slide release when the follower is pushing up on it is extremely difficult.
      Ironically, when I shoot to slide lock, drop the empty mag, insert a fresh full mag, and then drop the slide using the slide release, I don’t have a problem. There’s no upward pressure from the follower.
      Go figure. It doesn’t seem to be a problem when running the gun with live ammo so I don’t think it’s a flaw. A lot of shooters would say you shouldn’t be dropping the slide on an empty chamber anyway.
      I hope this clears up the issue for you and I hope I described the process in a way that makes sense. If you run the gun with live ammo and reload from slide lock with fresh magazines, I don’t think the slide release is an issue.

      I think it was a smart move on their part to upgrade the well-liked shield. The biggest knock on all the single stack 9's from the last 6 years has been the low capacity. This is a great way to get back into the capacity wars without having to spend the money on R&D for a brand new platform. Now Walther needs to get their sh*t together and make a PPS/CCP with higher capacity, instead of that PDP. I'm afraid they are too late at this point though.

Just carry a g19 size gun at that point. The 3.1” gun should have had optics and an available ported barrel from the start. Also why are you putting a fiber optic rear sight on a optics gun. “Yes let’s have a red dot with red fiber optic rear sight to distract you”.

    I Carry a Shield 2.0 AND a 9mm EZ. One thing I hate about the 2.0 was the extended Mag magwell plastic buffer thing that always seemed to shift a bit and prevent a clean drop of the mag out of the well and I would invariably end up having to pull it out (which, after grabbing my reload mag, would be problematic in training - and in a real fight, I would imagine). I'm really happy to see that it's one piece now as that was going to be a request of mine at the gun dealer; see how the extended mag dropped.
    Yes, the 10 round standard is cool, but for the EZ and the 2.0, I purchased three extra extended mags for each gun, and that's what I carry with me.
    Can't wait to get my hands on one; if it's that good, I'll get a second one for a back up.

    I'm certain I would like shooting this better than my P365. But it's still larger and doesn't conceal quite as well as the P365. Finding the right combination between shootability and concealability is always the toughest thing to figure out. I know some say why not both, but for conceal carry I prefer consistency, because it may not always register in a split second which gun I have on.

But for my " carry gun" I listened to friends and bought a Glock 19 gen 5 with tritium sights. Not a bad gun at all...But. Gun companies love me as I usually purchase the latest and greatest CCW at the time. Have a Sig 365 that I had the slide custom milled to accommodate a Holosun red dot. To each their own but having buyers remorse for the red dot on SD use. Great at the range and definitely more accurate, but in a SD situation that dot is not always in place when you draw. Maybe more practice would help. Believe I'm going to switch to the Plus with my favorite Amerglo Pro I-Dot sights as my new CCW. My first carry gun was the Shield 1.0, so the sights and holsters I already own will work. Thanks for the review.

    Liked your comments. But the range footage...zoom-in closer so we can actually see each round hit the targets. As it is we're looking at targets and your arms/gun move over and over..heh..Was this your own range or a public range? There are black target sheets I think with a day-glo base layer so that when shot you easily see where the round passed through. Forget the brand...you could use them in the future...
