wow $500? now it goes for $1500
Yup... Not so impressed either by that price bump.
its "only" 700$ now but still expensive
Where did you find it for 1500? I have been looking at the prices the Last few Month and i never Seen IT over 1k
@@agentiswierd5705i mean all Bikes are expensive. Still think compared to other Brands this is one of the best in that price segment
My triban has held up perfectly after 1.5 years...my initial investment for an entry level bike has now turned into a long term plan. I test drove my friend's Bianchi equivalent and I was shocked. The ride was similar and a part from the Bianchi distinct color and legacy / heritage (which is amazing) from a practical stand point I could not believe what I was getting in this Triban for the price.
Great review thanks for sharing mate👍🏻 I got delivery of mine yesterday . Changed innertubes to presta with removable core to add stans fluid works a treat as always ....colin.
At first I thought I'd turn it into a caliper brake from disc brakes but when I bought triban rc500 I've realised there is no cable holders for rear brake on frame. But I have no regret.. Mechanical disk brakes are really satisfying.

Thanks for the video. I think its a nice bike for beginners like me.
Powerful!
Because of this videos I buy this bike after a long time saving and I love it....
Thank you very much.
Greetings from Colombia
Have you enjoyed the bike? 🙂
Good man enjoy 😉 👍
Hi! Does the bike have 130mm or 135mm rear hubs? Thank you for your answer!
Propably 135, no modern bikes have 130.
Very nice colours
Is this bike hubs are bolls or baring?
Using it as my commuter and cheap winter trainings bike with mudguards. Brilliant piece of kit for the money. Though the disc brakes are bad and barely better than my Axis-rim brakes on my Specialized Allez with carbon rims.
I've had one of these since the end of January. I use it everyday for work and weekends for 10-15 mile early morning pleasure rides (young family!) It has exceeded my expectations as a great, solid all rounder. I can't afford a specialist road bike and separate commutor bike and this ticks all the boxes. I couldn't find anything in the UK any where near this for the price. Halfords and Go Outdoors had some similar and my local, fantastic, bike dealer tried to help but this was hands down the best value. It's got me really enjoying my cycling again and isn't that the bottom line? Brakes are fine in all weathers and much better than my previous bike's calipers. Not tried hydrolic so can't comment on the difference. Hope this helps
Sounds great mate! I´ve posted a comparison review on the Triban RC500 vs Btwin Triban 500! If you're interested in commenting on your review in the comments on that video! :p

Paid £650 3 months ago here in U.K., obviously they’ve recently just went down to £600 tho, abit slow at getting started but all round great bike
I have this bike in blue and i love it, you get a hell of allot of bike for your money and no other bike comes anywhere near this spec wise.
The Sora groupset is not the lower end of the Shimano range like you mention, most bike's in this price bracket don't use Sora.
Yup hell of allot of bike for the money I talk about the bike thoroughly in my review. ruclips.net/video/O5maPGX1mBg/видео.html
@@TheOneGoodRoad Yeah i just watched it and enjoyed it too.
I like you have both bikes in my possetion.
The old btwin wheel hubs were terrible and wore out and seized within the fist 2 months.
i got them replaced 3 times under warranty but i got fed up with this so i got a set of Mavick's which changed the bike completly and gave it a the smile factor : )
@@baldvale5418 If we're talking Shimano, Sora is the entry level along with Claris. Tiagra is the next step up. I don't think he meant Sora is the lower end among all groupsets available on bikes in this price bracket.
Could you please tell me how os the bike holding up after a year? I understand all bikes require some amount of maintainance to keep them working smoothly. Have you faced any issues with any parts of the bike where you needed to have it repaired? Have the hubs, shifters, wheelset, bottom bracket, steerer tube bearings etc given you any problems? These are usually the places where wear and tear is hard to notice until its too late. If you do reply to me I will be very grateful. Thanks in advance.
Sorry but I no longer own this bike. I still think it's fantastic value but it is a good question how it is for after a year or more. I reckon the shifters are good for long time it's Shimano, and the bike has a warranty.
What's your height ?
Is the rear wheel on the center of the frame??
I agree it looks off-center. I had the same issue and returned my rc500. It is either due to the dishing of the wheel or frame misalignment. In my case, it was because of the frame. Seeing this also on this bike makes me think that the quality and tolerance levels of decathlon bicycles are not as good as other brands as expected since the price is very low. You get what you pay for after all.
Do you think aluminium frame is suitable for touring ? , because i hear a lot of ppl recommending steel
Well I prefer lighter over heavier. Ethier frame will work well steel is stronger but heavier.
It depends on your approach of "touring". I wouldn't put 50kg of luggage on it.
Every recommendation of steel reminds me that the only frame I broke was made of steel :-D
10 kg is heavy to you? mine weights 17.2kg :C
what cassette remover do you guys use for this bike?
standard remover tool from decathlon bike tool set. I also have a small travel version as well not from decathlon.
question! how is 10 kg heavy for a bike?
Because they make bikes that are 7-8kg?
''and i think prices will go down over time''
covid: no.
Yeah true. But once they release a newer model then it will go down in price.
Is it suitable for heavier riders?
Decathlon said it is suited for cyclists with a weight up to 100kg.
I dont know if its still relevant, im 123 kg, and I have no problems. This bike is sturdy as hell. Last autumn I hit a rabbit with it at 35 km/h...the hardest crash I ve ever had, the bike didnt even have a scratch...
Is it worth getting this bike with microshift configuration? 680 price
Microshift vs Shimano? No contest really... Shimano is better, but the microshift does get the job done.
it's price is £549 in UK as on July 15, 2020.
now £599 16/11/20
@@TLBC69 now up to £649 and decathlon say that's with a price drop of £50, is it still worth it, I'm unsure., I suppose the increase would be because of the pandemic
Thanks for the video. Regarding the price, if you compare it to other brands it is very very hard to beat Decathlon price. I could not found any bike similar to this one for less than 800 euro without discount. I hope the price will goes low, but as i know Decathlon they could offer discount but the price will not change.
i know i am 2 years late but I just bought one recently and I am sure the price went even higher and I am in Canada so the price is definitely gonna cost more compare to the UK. But I am still happy with the purchase as it is the only brand that offer a competitive price while the majority of the brand is selling 1400 CAD~ above for a brand new bike with just Shimano Claris and I struggled to find a bike that fit my size so i would say the Triban RC500 is one of the best bang for the buck. I was in between of getting the 520 as that comes with shimano 105 but i don't race and with that price point it might actually be more worth to get the bike like a Canyon but that's way over my budget.
Looks a nice bike but wouldn’t like to put decent tyres on them wheels. Terrible wheel set and them cheap disc breaks will cause you nothing but hassle in the long run. Nice frame and group set in fairness but rc120 rim brake offering would be a better winter warrior option. 200 euro cheaper and at least the average person could change a tyre.
Cheap disc brakes? Those Pro-Max brakes are better than Shimano mechanical brakes ;-) doesn't look nice, but there is a lot of braking power...
Can someone tell me the average speed +/- please?
Depends on the person. And the wattage you can sustain.
It's selling for £529 at the min in the UK
Yup hoping it will comes down in price.. So I can grab one to review it! :)
i think 650 euro, is in this times a very good price. die bike is sold off. i think if the bike is available again (or the next model), the price will be much higher.
Triban rc 500 is it already thru axle bike?
Not yet 😭
NO, just QR
what size is this frame?
54cm I think. M size.
Can you put 700x23 road tires for that bike?
You can but I wouldn't recommend it 😉
@@TheOneGoodRoad why? 😅 But i mean for road use
They are such skinny tires, that's why! 😉 I prefer 26-28mm or even 32mm but then you start getting slowed down by the thickness of the tyre.
price is up. EUR710. Is it worth it?
Huh it's going up a lot then since I bought it for sure 🤔
July 2021, in Poland it costs about 690 Euros 😭 Compared to earning in other countries is f!@#$%^ expensive 🤬
Damn maybe drive to France or Spain and buy it there?
700 Eur today... and it's still barely available...
Hi, what size is it?
54cm frame. Medium.
Is it rustproof?
Most bikes in this price range are
I hate those Giant compact frame look a like. The rear tenda to be off, dont know, never liked the feel of the split frame in the rear tubes.
better stick with the 520
I’m enjoying the bike so far ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
3 years later, still hasn't dropped in price 😭
Yup and there out of stock... :(
not 40, you can put up to a 36.
Some smaller 40s may fit very tightly, as you can see in another video.
Idear
Down in price I wish, now its $1000 dollars usd so annoying.
Really interested in this line of bikes but why are all the colours so dull and boring? 🤦♂️
What? That’s why I love the rc500, that slick dark plain look is nice
I agree with both of you. 😆
The brakes and wheel set are horror...better spend 400 euro more for real quality and when you have a flat tyre it is almost impossible to change...
What are you talking about? No issue with changing the tire and the brakes are also perfect, Even better than Shimano mechanical brakes. Yes, the wheelset is cheap, heavy, and soft, but you will not find better wheelsets in the price range of about 1000 EUR. For 200 EUR, you can replace it with Mavic Aksium and yu are at least on the level up and still saved 200 EUR ;-)
@@viking8111 nah for 1000 euro I have much find much better quality ,this bike is realy crap and also too heavy ...that is my personal opinion but good luck
@@Dutch-K9-Unit I do not know like in your country, but I have checked all shops in Slovakia and about 1000 EUR were bikes on the Sora too and the weight was almost the same. Also, the wheels were generic and nothing special. So, I have replaced the wheels and tires for saved 250 EUR (the price was 750 in Slovakia), and I have decent bikes below 10 kg...
the price has gone up. 😅
749 euro here in Germany sooo im waiting on a price reduction
Yup, it's worth looking at the second hand market as well.
@@TheOneGoodRoad Second hand is something i am not considering because you never know what junk someone is trying to sell
Now this is 700 euro
Yup bit like what Netflix do with there subscriptions...
Hello ,after 3+ years is 600 euro damm
Yes it's going up in price 😔
Now 749 euro...
Giant Contend is a far better bike at that price point.
The price comparable model Contend 3 is equipped with Claris gearing, caliper brakes and aluminium fork. So in what is it better?
I mean..this bike has horrible brakes. Literally horrible. I have it, I love it...but dont say brakes are ok. Brakes will kill you.
How come? I've had two, switched from the flat bar version to the regular one and they both seemed fine to me. One was a bit more noisy than the other... could your problems be about the way they're set?
No, that brakes will not kill you. Those Pro-max brakes are even better than the Shimano mechanical ones. I have replaced the front brake with Shimano BR-RS305 because of the visual and there is less braking power than with Pro-max. It can be caused by the pads (Metalic on the Pro-max vs organic on the Shimano), but those brakes are definitely ok and if they "will kill you", you are not able to set-up them properly ;-)
