    Nice review. The Triban RC500 has proved to be a brilliant buy with full day rides done and has even done duty as a gravel bike with 35mm. tyres fitted for a few months, which worked out really well. Great all-rounder 👍

    • @WiserBiker
      @WiserBiker  3 года назад +1

      Totally agree! We think this is especially great for beginners who just started out. Great components, relax geometry and most importantly huge tyre clearance. Would not say it is fast but definitely superb for long comfortable rides! Ride for a good 6months to even a few years and you will know what you want for your next bike :)

      @@bisaleethonger4756 Hi, from our test rides, the carbon fork is of reliable quality. Yes there are many replacement forks in the after market. Unfortunately if you are using the Triban RC500 which comes with SORA R3000 groupset, you will not be able to upgrade to hydraulic brakes as the cost incur is too high. Better off selling the bike and get a new bike as an upgrade :)

    I've got one and i love it! I'm 6ft 2in and found it difficult to get on with the handlebars,my back kept aching! Oh the joys of old age!!! So i put a flat bar on changed the cassette to a shimano 12/36 wich is excellent for steep hills especially if you a big guy like me.i put 35 mil puncture resistant tan wall tyres on and changed the seat .i find it perfect for me now and i still only spent about 750 pounds TOTAL!!! Wich is crazy .i absolutely love the bike i live in Thailand now and average around 400 kilometres per month. Yes there are a few things minor things that aren't good but it's not to expensive to swap them .the pedals also wasn't to good but i put a nice set on for very small money! All in all a great bike that you can tailor to your needs! 10 out of 10 for me well done Decathlon 😁❤

    Excellent review, I've owned a Triban 520 which this bike replaces. It was excellent value. My bike had rim brakes, but it had excellent bartape and decent Hutchinson tyres. I guess that's where they saved the money to get the disc brakes. It's crazy given that tyres and the contact points like the bar tape play such an important part in how well the bike rides and feels. I do not mind the external cabling, having ridden my bike through three Scottish winters, it held up okay and I find external cabling easier to replace at home. The one thing I will say that could also be improved is the neatness of the welds, they look really untidy close up. That said, I agree that they're incredibly good value are very versatile and stable bikes.

    Actually you can try using the default tires as indoor trainer tires. Then switch it up to premium tire when going out. Don't need to buy indoor trainer specific tires and you can save on your premium tires.

    • @WiserBiker
      @WiserBiker  3 года назад +4

      Yes if you have an extra rear wheel lying around, it will make sense to use those stock tires for indoor trainer. But for people in general, most of us won't have a spare wheelset lying around which means if you wanna ride indoor, you need to change a tire. You want to go outdoor the next day you need to change to your preferred tire. Not sure about that though, too much chore for me 😂

    • @jimhinks3476
      @jimhinks3476 2 года назад

      Or, if you buy the bike in winter, use the tyres (and possibly the wheels) until spring and then get something decent, I went for Schwalbe Duranos and Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels in the summer after I got the bike.

      @@mr.g702 That's a tough one. I will consider upgrading it to Sora shifters with MTB 9 speed RD and a cassette that can suit your RD (11-42T for example). You can still continue to use your existing crank.
      Most 8- and 9-speed Shimano mountain bike and road kit is inter-compatible because they both use the same cable pull ratio. This means that you can use an 8 -or 9-speed mountain bike derailleur with road shifters or vice versa.
      Having said all that, honestly not too sure if it's worth spending all that. If you can source out some 2nd hand parts, maybe you can keep the components cost to about $150ish

    I’m enjoying the bike so far ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

    What shoes are you wearing while cycling in this video? Do you think it is necessary or important to get those bike road shoes?

      Hello Kenneth, are you riding on road most of the time? We are just wearing sports shoes most if not all the time. Next, is will you be walking around during your cycling activity?
      Just to list some of the advantages: Clipless gives you more control, chances of your feet slipping off the pedal is near impossible, better pedaling efficiency.

      We will call this a value for money entry level bike. Main focus on this bike is comfort and endurance. That said, we can ride avg speed of 25-28km/h with this bike. Possible to hit top speed of 35-38km/h the last time we tried this

    What he did not mention or maybe he did not have tried out yet is to remove the stock tire and put it back. it is almost impossible with normal tools. The bike is fantastic and it accelerate fast for me no problem there. However the only negative are the tires which you must replace them for folding tires which will be more easy to remove and put back when you have a puncture. you can go tubeless too...
    The wheels are just ok for the given frame, however replacing the wheels not going to be needed given that the bike is not designed for speed, she is comfortable at 25 km/h as average speed, so any set of wheel is ok. My fair opinion only. If you are buying this bike to speed and race go somewhere else.
