      @evolv.e 10 месяцев назад +6

      @@DescartesRenegade in the past 9 years, the only out of pocket expenses have been:
      Non-consumables:
      - passenger front door handle
      - alignment done at 147k mi
      - LTE connectivity upgrade (mandatory)
      Consumables:
      - front brake pads
      - cabin filter replacement (two)
      - ten pair of rear tires (P85+ RWD)
      - four pair of front tires
      - 12v accessories battery
      - windshield wiper fluid top off
      Charging:
      - about $47 worth of home electricity
      (99.9% of our charges are done at Supercharging stations as we are grandfathered for lifetime free charging)
      Optional expenses:
      - infotainment upgrade
      - front bumper refresh
      - screen replacement (yellowing edges)
      - wheel touch up paint
      - body touch up paint
      I think that’s about it. Can’t think of anything else at the moment. Will edit this if I remember anything else. Has been relatively maintenance free, and with the OTA updates, LTE/infotainment, upgrades, and front bumper refresh, it looks and feels new for a car that’s nearly a decade old.
      I think that most well kept 2012-2016 models are a steal for what I see some of them sold for, and a bonus for ones that still have unlimited Supercharging. We average about 16k mi of driving annually, or the equivalent of 64 full charges.
      Free supercharging may or may not be the primary reason someone keeps an older Tesla or buys an older Tesla, but for those wondering if free supercharging is worth driving an older Model S, @.40/kWh (your local SC kW/h rate may vary), we save $2176 on average annually (16.6k miles avg driven annually - ymmv)- Multiply that by 9 years for a $19,584 in Supercharging costs saved. We have no plans on selling it as it does exactly what we need it to do and plan on keeping the car for as long as we’re alive :)

    Love my model Y. The one thing I wish was different or customizable is the suspension. Right now it's too stiff, you feel every single bump on the road and it doesn't make for a very comfortable ride.

      @dvader3263 10 месяцев назад

      Upgraded and up sized 255/50-19 tires help to smooth the ride a bit. They're one inch taller than the lower profile stock size 255/45-19 tires.

      Air suspension instead of springs and dynamic (intelligent) shock damping to hide the small amplitude road texture.

    Love our Model Y. Most practical family/all purpose vehicle I've ever owned. It just does everything well. Roomy, lots of storage, save a lot in gas and time not having to go to the pump. Wake up every morning with a full "tank" but still have superchargers nearby if needed to travel further.

    Love every second in my Model S Plaid. Yesterday we overtook a car on a small road (driving slow). I give it full throttle once we changed lanes. It pulls like a rocket, fighting traction, with my gf screaming and holding onto her seat belt while my 3 year old in the back was enjoying every second. I experienced both joy and horror in those two seconds. 😂

    I rented a Model Y from Hertz recently while visiting relatives near Houston. Great car with a great air conditioner. It handled a heat index of 116 with no problem. I spent quite a bit of time just sitting in it because it was by far the most comfortable place I could find in all that Texas heat. And my relatives kept wanting rides.

    Its amazing how you could achieve all these engineering breakthroughs and at the same time put it in the market for people to appreciate. My sister has a Tesla and being in there makes me feel so cool, there's a special confidence to it. Great stuff
    Maybe people think you don't need this but I think there's should be a way to manually open the door though. Give the power to individuals not centralized too much, we have so much of it going forward it should be harder and harder to push back to balance it out. What if you implemented a password mistake system, if you opened the door manually, lets say in an emergency situation... Tesla would ask you for key questions, made enough mistakes it would contact the police in one way or the other. You could also have multiple door handles, or multiple ways to open the door, multiple ways to twist the steering wheel, multiple ways to tap the floor, and enough "wrong password" the car would be jammed or it would contact the police.

    Love my Model Y. Snow and my Tesla: I bought the expensive tire chains -- to show to the highway patrol so they'll let me drive up the mountain road. Haven't used them yet. No plowed parking? No probllem. Snow drift, later just drive out. I love camping in the back of my Y. . if I don't need a shower I don't bother with hotels. Downside, I don't use my tent as much.

    • @skiing4pow
      @skiing4pow 5 месяцев назад

      I got the chains as well, but didn’t need them in the massive snow storms last year.car performed like magic. My only complaint, is all the ice coming up from the chained cars put a lot of nicks in my Y front hood, fairly easy to remedy with the Tesla touch up paint, but still not ideal. Maybe a front hood snow bra would help. I love my Y and 3.
