      Complete runs aren't that uncommon. Of course, real tractor pulls are limited by weight classes. The Cybertruck is pretty heavy for tractor pulling, but way down on power. The big sleds are pulled by tractors of under 3 tonnes, but most of the weight is engine, with like 6k horsepower. This is not a particularly big sled.
      By contrast, a steam traction engine has less horsepower than a small car, but enormous torque and weight, and can just drag a sled no issues.

    • @krisdphillips
      @krisdphillips 5 месяцев назад +420

      To be fair to Rivian the tow rating is 11,000 lbs and this is nearly triple that. Rivian's truck has it's suspension tuned for comfort over hauling. The F350 didn't squat at all hardly because it has a higher tow rating with a stiffer suspension. However, it will ride like a brick glued to a steel beam down the road. I know because I own an F250 big block truck. It is basically trying to shake my teeth out of my skull on any bumpy road, but I love it to death when I have to haul something.
      The Cybertruck's suspension was squatting basically just as much as the Rivian because 99% of the people who own it will care more about ride comfort and are never going to haul with it. Most people are idiots that buy trucks these days for them to be pavement princes and princesses for the status of "owning a truck". As such most truck makers in this class are going to tune it for comfort. This truck will be no different.

    so, just a few general observations as someone who is very much into trucks both as a hobby and as a career, is that the F350 has a hitch mounted lower than the cyber truck, meaning that cybertruck is going to have more traction because cyber truck has more weight on the wheels. this is also why the rivian did so well. f350 could also pull all day, cyber truck will lose a lot of pulling power as it pulls over and over. or, in a real world use case, cyber truck will lose power the farther it goes on its trip.
    dont get me wrong the cyber truck is cool and all, but id still go with a diesel motor especially because power stays consistent all day while im driving. also i am curious to know the price tag on the 3 motor cyber truck vs an f350. another question is PM/repair cost. id be willing to bet that the cyber truck is going to be far more expensive to run than f350 in the long run. last question that is still unanswered is how does the payload capacity stack up between the two trucks? id bet that f350 will hold up to more weight in the bed and id bet that the f350 lasts longer in terms of being able to do its job 10, 20, maybe even 30 years from now.
    again, just a few observations...nobody get bent out of shape now

    • @hatslapper6860
      @hatslapper6860 2 месяца назад +1

      I think the bigger problem holding the Cybertruck (or any electric truck) back is just the sheer energy required to tow over long distances. Diesel is quite energy dense and gas pumps are significantly faster for refueling than charging stations are currently which makes diesel trucks a lot more sensible for long hauls. I think as battery energy density and charging speeds increase, the gap will narrow between range and refueling/recharging, and electric trucks will become more sensible for towing as well. Tesla has a semi after all, and they seem to be serious about heavy duty EVs.

Whenever a manufacturer runs their own tests it’s easy for them to manipulate the results in their favor as Tesla has done here. So an independent test by 10 different testers would really prove this as reality. As far as I know right now this is all Hollywood here. I can't agree enough with so many that have mentioned the ability to pull this sled one time as mentioned from point A-B and do it once twice or three times! I can almost bet you that there would be a huge difference between the first pull and the second and then the 4th and 7th etc that would equal the pull distance say of some of the California Sierras but I also know that the regeneration in the big rig versions is nearly completely recharging there batteries when they reach the other side however what would happen when you head to the central plain states where you go from sea level to 5k elevation and stay there for a thousand miles?
    Also a quick question why didn't they use the Dodge truck? It is if not the torque king it's very close and I am a Powerstroke fan in heart but have to give Dodge huge props for their motors and tow-torque (just haven't looked at them recently to compare).

    How many times in a row can the Tesla truck tow that payload without charging? How long do you have to wait before you’re charged and ready to tow? When towing constant power is a requirement. Especially if you’re depending on A tow haul or Jake brakes… if you can only do that once, or even ten times it’s not applicable because a truck you will get that power out of constantly. I love the Tesla truck, I think it’s awesome, but I tow and power decrease is a major concern. How much per decrease is there after 1 run, 10 runs, 20 runs? If you have the power to get up the hill, will you still have power to tow haul it down the hill? Just another perspective, I could be completely wrong. Does anyone know?

    My grandfather invented the self propelled pulling sled, prior they had to be pulled back to the start with a tractor. He never patented it though. They even turned down an offer from Coors to be their sponsor because my grandma didn’t want to promote beer. Another person went on to build one and also got that Coors sponsorship and became the famous sled.

      Actually my grandmother created the self propelled sled. Prior they were pulled back with the labor of 150 migrant workers who were mostly unpaid. We got a buyout offer from Jeff bezos but we turned it down because we hate books.

      My grandfather invented the self propelled sled pull that would pull itself across the track in both directions on its own. It was a really boring event having a sled go back and forth on its own.
