there are other things I'd rather they prioritize first (maps, new weapons, new enemies, and playable character archetypes). but yeah a full on suite of weapon customization would be very cool
The reflex sight makes such a massive difference for this weapon. While i understand that the weapon customization needs some more cooking, we DESPERATELY need the ability to add or remove flashlights and sights on the weapons. The Hellbores would be such amazing weapons with an actual sniper scope on them.
I loved the MK4 sword that you're using when I played around launch. The heavy2 into light3 combo for crowds, fat heavy1 overheads for single target, even just spamming lights has some satisfying variety, and while the parry was bad (idk about now post-buff) it does bring the style points. One of the few melee weapons that felt to me like it was around the same level as some of the better-designed V2 melee weapons.
Agreed that it is a nice audio and visual representation of a boltgun (which fires tiny missiles sort of). Space Hulk Deathwing was super immersive and fun, but I don't think bolters felt this way.
ammo economy on bolters now is abysmal. it does more dmg now in my experience but on auric you re out of ammo 1/3 of the way in a mission and if you re competing with at least one more guy for pickups you ll be starved all game long
its definitely rough on Auric. probably best to find a middle ground between ammo economy pre patch and post patch for weapons like the Bolter. massive difference in ammo efficiency between something like a Lucius Helbore with no ammo consumption on crit, vs a weapon like the Bolter. we'll get there, might take a bit
I definitely think the bolter has been neutered a little too hard but to be fair, the game has nearly been out for a year and the bolter has been overpowered since the very start. It could do with some time on the shelf.
The bolter is still a lot of fun, but I just can't make them work past Heresy threat now, I'd rather have the ammo capacity from lasguns, autoguns, etc.
@@Ro-fw3lcthe Kantrael XII is what I think he’s talking about, I use it a lot and it’s amazing. 300 damage per shot with a solid semi auto rate of fire, with the 20% extra flak damage perk it can one hit headshot pretty much every specialist and can 4-5 shot a bulwark depending on crits
I use Bolter with Infiltrate which gives me time to reload + 30% dmg upon stealth leave. It is basically the old insta-reload volleyfire (which I didn't really play much cuz it was kinda boring), if not...better imo. All the reload speed nodes help too.
One day I hope they add customisable bots and solo mode.. It's all that's stopping me buying it.. I love multiplayer in VT2, but also really enjoyed the challenge of gearing my bots to be able to get through the top difficulty maps.

Wall of text. Promise not negative. Just my two (maybe three) cents. Veteran was strong before the patch because of Ammo Economy, and Pinning Fire. Ammo Economy was heavily nerfed, Pinning Fire was heavily nerfed. Then Veteran got further nerfs as a result of everything it used to have being spread deep across the three trees, and the values of said bonuses being nerfed. No Keystones, instead some very weak buffs (that don't reset with refreshes of Executioner Stance), the heavy point investment requirement to make Focus Fire remotely close to what it once was. Their Shout feels lackluster requiring additional investment to benefit allies, and Infiltrate feels like a longer CD, worse version of Zealot's Shroudfield, as it requires multiple points of investment (again) to make it have any bonuses outside vanishing for a slightly longer time. I do not hesitate to call Veteran the weakest class in its current state. While also being very skill point hungry. Compared to Psykers, who are almost better with a gun, have auto seeking near infinite Mind Knives, staff choices that out perform even the Plasma Gun (which is definitely feeling the ammo changes the most) IE: Void Strike dealing 1200+ to Crushers, and their Peril/Siphon/Destiny boosts making everything they do more powerful, not to mention no ammo usage with said staves. Zealots are whirlwinds of undying steel and flesh (as always) fully capable of using any ranged weapon, again due to how their bonuses are +damage to everything, and Ogryn's pack more firepower, survival, and melee capability all while feeling absolutely amazing to play (Heavy Attacks and Bleed damage, by the Emperor!). Every other class feels incredibly powerful and unique, but a clear negative bias can be felt on Veteran. Melee-wise, their exclusive Power Sword was too strong, however, in its current state it feels like one of the weaker melee options despite the requirement to charge it, more than ever making Power Cycler mandatory just to keep up. It is rather obvious that the balancing is trying to push things towards a melee focus, akin to that of Vermintide. I hope that the people responsible remember that this is a Warhammer 40,000 game where the ranged options are a part of what makes the universe so exciting, and unique. Darktide is meant to be a mix of range and melee, made very evident by the large numbers of ranged enemy types with very fast ranged attacks (not just an arrow), and while I understand pre-patch Veteran was too powerful for multiple reasons, as it stands now the class has been relegated to a mediocre support class at best, with a single super fun grenade. I hope that in the future, we not only get more exciting ranged weaponry, but also that the Veteran receives the same powerful Keystones as every other class to further enhance the chosen tree flavor. It is my most played class, I feel most comfortable shooting on it, and will continue to play it as best I can. I have roughly 500 hours in the game, at least 150 of which are Vet. I love to play themed load-outs using cosmetics and weapons that compliment both the build and the playstyle, I wish to continue doing so without feeling hamstrung. I truly enjoy Darktide, and this patch is mostly incredible (Revolver changes for better hit-reg!). I just want my favorite shooty-guy to be the shooty guy. One more time; Krak Grenades are the best part of Vet's update! I love them.
Feel pretty much the same way as I really only play vet at damnation (level 250+ now). The rework allows use of more of the weapon roster like recon lasgun with crits but I can really feel the nerfs for everything else, especially with ammo management, and can't help but feel they may have pushed a tad bit too far the other way. It comes at a time when all the other classes are being reworked to where they should have been at release, so its understandable that vet will be knocked down a few pegs to get them all balanced out on the initial pass. As a side note, I run the scoreboard mod, and on average its nice to see all the classes actually look balanced on kills and overall score compared to before, so in that sense the class rework has done a great job. They of course are already working on further balance changes and we should hopefully see that soon. Above all I would like to just see new weapons, weapon customization as seen here, and new weapon combos like pistol and sword for example.
Good points , but the crying plebs on reddit and discord said Vets should disappear so here we are. FS is doing jackshit to satisfy one side of community instead of doing something that will work for everyone, in one word: lazyness. When you see the Krieg skin that cost 15 bucks plus 8 bucks for the enhanced helmet , they clearly knew that the vets were ripped off by the patch so the skin is here to *ease* the sheeps that will continue to play mindlessly. I want the game to be good and yet it feels like a toxic relationship and a lot of disrespect ... let alone the zealot cosmetic that put a golden gag and the words " and thy words of faith shall be filtered and amplified only by the purest of metals..." they clearly are leaving hints or mocking people. I would love to se a laslock gun as a weapon, fixed weapon like stormbolters during a sequence in a Mission where you have to hold the line as long as possible, hot shot guns, instead of the smoke grenades of the veteran? gas grenades
I'd love if they re-did the Veteran tree AGAIN. I don't even bother with the final abilities at the end of the skill tree and focused on being a Jack of all Trades kind of build: - Decent melee and ranged - Good at getting buddies up - constantly recharging grenades, maximum 3 Krak ;p
Have you tried resetting your aim by scoping out and back in after each shot? Before the last major update to Bolters, it would reset the reticle and bloom, allow you to get 100% precise shots each time.

Couldn't quite tell from the screen. Does the weapon customization mod make sights actually accurate to where the shot will land when under recoil, or is it still random where the shot with recoil goes when aiming down sight?
The shot gets jittery post-recoil, but that's not an issue with the weapon customization (so the mod won't fix it), it's an inherent issue with bolters where firing ADS messes up the accuracy for a while following the first trigger pull. It could be bypassed in previous versions (might still be applicable to the latest patch) by dropping out of ADS and back in each shot but it does make aiming a bit messy. I think if anything, it makes it that the sight jitters over to where the shot will land when under recoil so it's still accurate in a sense, though it's probably not pointing where you want it to. Had that issue even without the mod: shot staggers to the side and the iron sight ADS points in that direction.
Its necessary though, the bigger versions the marines use are linked to their helmets, so they dont need it, but firing a bolter scopeless is kind of hard for a mere mortal.
@@Akrilloth It still doesnt make it look right. Not to mention having about 200 hours in the game almost entirely as a vet, you really dont need it. The only issue with the sights is that on the bolter the animation is bugged and jerks sometimes. Iron sights arent impossible to use by any means, just lolipop the target and you are good. *Edit Also to be fair, if you wanna go by the lore. Its not a regular bolter. It is a smaller bolter specifically issued for human soldiers. Still a beast and the in lore operating manual says that humans who are issued it are advised to stick to single or burst fire. So its not like they are trying to operate a full sized bolter. In addition there is only a certain amount of logic that you can apply to the 40k universe of all things. Aesthetics have always taken priority in that universe over functionality or sensibility. Its kind of a staple of the entire franchise.
One of my issues with this game is there are so many weapons that just have no use at higher tiers. You really have to be special edition to roll a heavy sword or the fast firing semi auto las gun, on Auric - there needs to be a general balance pass on a lot of weapons
Story time from my veteran on malice difficulty… So let me set the scene, I play on console, I picked up the game like 3 days ago, grinded my veteran into the lvl 19 at the moment. Had thought “let’s change up the skills from Commissar (still sad there’s no bolt pistol) bought the equivalent of the Kasrakin cosmetic set (would also prefer a tempestus and a hot shot lasgun/hell gun to be added) and went all in with the Infiltration skill line to my ability. Went into quick play on malice and less than 10 mins in all my other teammates are captured I’m near death no armor of contempt (toughness) for the heretics. I run to my last dead teammates position and grab their med kit, heal up but no time for toughness I have 2 charges of infiltrate with the 90% reduce to threat level… this runs not over yet. It was also that mission where you have to go through unlocking the giant doors in the slums. I murdered with extreme prejudice the heretics guarding the first door then there’s two more to get through. I run the recon lasgun and chainsword (it’s honest work) and pop infiltrate after opening the first door, move like jaeger to the second door unlock (thank the machine spirt) slams that bitch. One more door to get through and my teammates are infront of it under heavy guard… this is why I had that sudden urge to go Infiltrate with 2 charges (won’t Big E do it 😭… and Alpharius 😈) pop the second Infiltrate while closing the distance to my teammates it ware’s off right while I’m in the middle of them… (I still have 10 seconds) immediately saves the psyker throws down two shrapnel grenades (running the 10% chance of double nade) so like 12 come out. While the first psyker is mad about not getting his toy in his kids meal and doing unspeaking things to a heretic I free the second psyker and the zealot (ya we didn’t have a ogryn” Then we proceed to fight our way through the mission. At the last portion of clearing the demon infestation from demon prince’s shreks swamp I go down right as we are fighting our way through filth waiting for extraction. As my teammates understand that I didn’t brave letting the run die they booked it to the Valkyrie and as I spawn back in tied and guarded by traitors I think to myself “If it wasn’t for my efforts we wouldn’t had made it… then completion screen emerges into view… just like on Septus Prime”
If you take that talent to get toughness back for being further from enemies, you can pop into cover or round a corner and vent all you want, the regen will get you back
but I like the bolter, at medium difficulty levels you can kill a Maniac with a couple of shots, the small amount of ammunition upsets me, but the POWER really makes me happy😈
The weapon customization in this video is a specific mod. It's taking the reflex sight from Kantrael lasguns and slapping it on weapons of your choosing. Reading from other posts though, weapon customization is supposedly an intended but not officially released feature. Like the most recent skill tree system, it probably was on the drawing board but needs more work before Fatshark's willing to put it into the game.
I honestly wonder if Fatshark will put heavy weapons for veteran in Darktide. Like the hotshot lasgun, yet again Ogryn is the one with the heavy weapons so…
What melee and ranged combo would you all recommend for both heresy and damnation on veteran? Currently running with a recon lasgun (the last one you unlock) and a devil's claw mk1. Also running the full middle skill line to have some survivability for myself and the rest
I find the lack of a sidearm in addition to your rifle to be odd. But i guess they wanted to limit characters to 2 weapons making uou choose rifle or sidearm.
How is it that some weapons that aren't the kantrael have sights? bolter, lucis, i'm confused and want answers. is it a modifier, just a random chance, certain variants?

@@brightestlight9462 "normaly" a plague marine should mop the floor with 4 non unaugmented humans, even with a psyker thrown in the mix (unless somehow ambushed with extreme prejudice). Too fast, too accurate (too tanky in nurgle case). Then again we are running around killing nurgle beasts so what do I know
6:32 clutch fail because you were not familiar with boltgun mechanics. At 6:56 you could easily have ulted and sprayed down those enemies to res. You only need 1 shot (at least with high enough collateral stat, around 51%) to break bulwark block so unless it's an emergency, you should always interrupt the burst by ADS...etc. Enemies killed by boltgun make AOE explosion which staggers small enemies, which means that horde was easily manageable. Boltgun with over 50% mobility also has 4 dodges so there's plenty of time to reload.

I don't think they'll be adding it any time soon because I saw one of the devs say that they don't have anything against the mod in its current form.

Parry actually goes pretty hard now. You can parry a Mauler's overheard without costing stamina and it feels so good
I just want Fatshark to add Meltagun and Inferno Pistol....
I'm not sure how you add a Melta to Darktide when, lorewise, one melta shot could turn a Beast of Nurgle into paste.

I don’t know whether lasgun got buff or enemy got nerf, the damage of lasgun is no joke.

The shot gets jittery post-recoil, but that's not an issue with the weapon customization (so the mod won't fix it), it's an inherent issue with bolters where firing ADS messes up the accuracy for a while following the first trigger pull. It could be bypassed in previous versions (might still be applicable to the latest patch) by dropping out of ADS and back in each shot but it does make aiming a bit messy.
I think if anything, it makes it that the sight jitters over to where the shot will land when under recoil so it's still accurate in a sense, though it's probably not pointing where you want it to. Had that issue even without the mod: shot staggers to the side and the iron sight ADS points in that direction.
Seeing a red dot sight on a bolter just feels wrong
Its necessary though, the bigger versions the marines use are linked to their helmets, so they dont need it, but firing a bolter scopeless is kind of hard for a mere mortal.
@@Akrilloth It still doesnt make it look right. Not to mention having about 200 hours in the game almost entirely as a vet, you really dont need it. The only issue with the sights is that on the bolter the animation is bugged and jerks sometimes. Iron sights arent impossible to use by any means, just lolipop the target and you are good.

Also to be fair, if you wanna go by the lore. Its not a regular bolter. It is a smaller bolter specifically issued for human soldiers. Still a beast and the in lore operating manual says that humans who are issued it are advised to stick to single or burst fire. So its not like they are trying to operate a full sized bolter. In addition there is only a certain amount of logic that you can apply to the 40k universe of all things. Aesthetics have always taken priority in that universe over functionality or sensibility. Its kind of a staple of the entire franchise.

One of my issues with this game is there are so many weapons that just have no use at higher tiers. You really have to be special edition to roll a heavy sword or the fast firing semi auto las gun, on Auric - there needs to be a general balance pass on a lot of weapons
Story time from my veteran on malice difficulty…
So let me set the scene, I play on console, I picked up the game like 3 days ago, grinded my veteran into the lvl 19 at the moment. Had thought “let’s change up the skills from Commissar (still sad there’s no bolt pistol) bought the equivalent of the Kasrakin cosmetic set (would also prefer a tempestus and a hot shot lasgun/hell gun to be added) and went all in with the Infiltration skill line to my ability.
Went into quick play on malice and less than 10 mins in all my other teammates are captured I’m near death no armor of contempt (toughness) for the heretics. I run to my last dead teammates position and grab their med kit, heal up but no time for toughness I have 2 charges of infiltrate with the 90% reduce to threat level… this runs not over yet. It was also that mission where you have to go through unlocking the giant doors in the slums. I murdered with extreme prejudice the heretics guarding the first door then there’s two more to get through. I run the recon lasgun and chainsword (it’s honest work) and pop infiltrate after opening the first door, move like jaeger to the second door unlock (thank the machine spirt) slams that bitch. One more door to get through and my teammates are infront of it under heavy guard… this is why I had that sudden urge to go Infiltrate with 2 charges (won’t Big E do it 😭… and Alpharius 😈) pop the second Infiltrate while closing the distance to my teammates it ware’s off right while I’m in the middle of them… (I still have 10 seconds) immediately saves the psyker throws down two shrapnel grenades (running the 10% chance of double nade) so like 12 come out. While the first psyker is mad about not getting his toy in his kids meal and doing unspeaking things to a heretic I free the second psyker and the zealot (ya we didn’t have a ogryn” Then we proceed to fight our way through the mission. At the last portion of clearing the demon infestation from demon prince’s shreks swamp I go down right as we are fighting our way through filth waiting for extraction. As my teammates understand that I didn’t brave letting the run die they booked it to the Valkyrie and as I spawn back in tied and guarded by traitors I think to myself “If it wasn’t for my efforts we wouldn’t had made it… then completion screen emerges into view… just like on Septus Prime”

If you take that talent to get toughness back for being further from enemies, you can pop into cover or round a corner and vent all you want, the regen will get you back

Is there weapon customization now? I haven't been following Darktide in a while, but that bolter didn't used to have a reflex sight.
The weapon customization in this video is a specific mod. It's taking the reflex sight from Kantrael lasguns and slapping it on weapons of your choosing.
Reading from other posts though, weapon customization is supposedly an intended but not officially released feature. Like the most recent skill tree system, it probably was on the drawing board but needs more work before Fatshark's willing to put it into the game.
I want to use the bolter but that twitch it does while aiming really screws me up especially with the extremely low amount of ammo you have for it.
I honestly wonder if Fatshark will put heavy weapons for veteran in Darktide. Like the hotshot lasgun, yet again Ogryn is the one with the heavy weapons so…

@@brightestlight9462 "normaly" a plague marine should mop the floor with 4 non unaugmented humans, even with a psyker thrown in the mix (unless somehow ambushed with extreme prejudice). Too fast, too accurate (too tanky in nurgle case).

Nah. One of the DT devs said they don't plan to do anything about it. I've been using it in random lobbies, with Steam and Xbox players alike.

6:32 clutch fail because you were not familiar with boltgun mechanics.
At 6:56 you could easily have ulted and sprayed down those enemies to res.
You only need 1 shot (at least with high enough collateral stat, around 51%) to break bulwark block so unless it's an emergency, you should always interrupt the burst by ADS...etc.
Enemies killed by boltgun make AOE explosion which staggers small enemies, which means that horde was easily manageable.
Boltgun with over 50% mobility also has 4 dodges so there's plenty of time to reload.

I usually play between t4 and t5 (heresey, and damnation) and it seems around 30 minutes; sometimes quicker sometimes longer.
