I've tried a zillion things. The sole things that actually worked for me: A good diet, decent sleeping timings, moving your body atleast for 30 minutes, eating right, using quality shampoo and oil. I use just liitllleextra cocoonniion shampoo with natural hair oil for this reason plus it does the work. My hair fall got controlled with it.

Wasn’t eating enough protein and I restarted my collagen powder ( I put it in my coffee during my eating window). That seemed to solve it. Your hair has growing and non growing cycles....I think if you don’t hit a good protein level in the cycle you tend to lose more hair. Eat the protein is my advice!

I started to have hair loss and noticed my thigh muscles shrinking while on keto. I was doing intermittent fasting and following Dr Berg's clean keto very closely(eating all organic foods and grass fed beef). I was eating a LOT at that one meal a day....eating for almost 2 hours. And I was eating more protein than recommended. So I was surprised to see the hair and muscle loss. I called Dr Berg's consultation line about the hair and muscle loss and they suggested I start taking some "essential amino acids" supplements. I ordered some from my usual vitamin shop...Swanson's....and everything reversed....hair and muscles came back quickly. I'm 64, I have no gall bladder, and had a fatty liver when I started keto. I did break my sugar/carb addiction with keto and lost 40 pounds. I've kept the weight off for 20 months now. Still doing keto, but I've gotten lazy and eat almost no vegetables lately. I've considered going full carnivore since I greatly enjoy beef, poultry, and pork, but I'm uncertain as to whether it's really a good diet tho many seem to be very successful on it. Doing keto with all the vegetables can be difficult because I do cook and prepare all the food I eat. When I started I had a partner and we shared in the meal prep. But then she fell off the diet. It's so much easier to just cook the beef and eat eggs, nuts, cheese, and avocados.

I started consuming collagen peptide powder & unflavored bone broth powder before I started keto. My hair flourished. Of course, at the time! I didn’t know I’d go full on keto when I started taking it, I was just reducing my carbs. I take about 24-30 grams a day total combined. Very inexpensive when purchased in bulk.
I did Keto 2 years when it was barely known and when your channels were just starting! My hair has been a big issue. Went off, did keto again, and again my stylist was alarmed. A full year of hair loss and I just wasn't feeling my best. I have your IF book. Next step I will try is IF and carb cycling. I am hoping if I cycle carbs in occasionally, that I can not lose hair (and sleep better). It's all such a puzzle. It can be alarming. ***I should mention that I took collagen and biotin supplements with no noticeable results. THANKS FOR THE TIPS IN THIS VIDEO! I will keep them all in mind as I give this another go. Keto does help me stay clear of sugar and chips (my downfall)!

When I brush it am and pm the brush only had 10-15 hairs vs a brush full. I resisted chopping off the length. Hoping it will start growing back in and not look crazy! 🙏

When I exited peri-menopause and entered menopause, after a few years in I noticed I had lost nearly 100% of my body hair, and was rapidly losing hair from my head. Multiple strands came out when I brushed, washed, or even touched my hair. I would be sitting at my computer and feel stands of hair brush my shoulders as they fell to the floor. Since I started Keto, it has stopped. I can run my fingers through my hair and no strands come out. I don't think it has started regrowing, (I"m hoping!) but at least it has stopped thinning. No regrowth of body hair, but I'm ok with that. (I used to have to pluck my fingers and toes.)
Just do keto moderately. Meaning yeas eat high healthy fats and eat enough protein, but also eat enough carbs as in complex carbs and healthy carbs. Fruits and veggies are carbs, but they are also filled with fiber and are good for you and nutrient dense so don't rob yourself of their nutrients. Also get enough vit D3 and know that not all D3 supplements are made equal. Best option for d3 is cod liver oil with it added in like nordic naturals. Just eat a balanced whole food diet, lower stress, get active and monitor nutrient levels.
Thank you for another very informative video. We are doing lazy low carb. Meaning I don't measure or count. I try to have protein in every meal. My husband and I are eating 18/6. He's looking fantastic. His mother told him he needed to stop loosing weight. We got a manual treadmill and he's been giving it a work out. Me on the other hand I'm having trouble. I have low thyroid and taking a 60mg every morning. I have no gallbladder and high blood pressure and am taking meds for that. I do feel better eating low carb so I guess I need to just make sure I'm eating the right foods and take feeling better rather than loosing weight which I need to do. Too much sugar and my joints ache.

No, I have never heard anyone crack this problem. As a former ballet dancer, I have been on many low-calorie (and high stress) diets. It is ONLY on keto that I experienced hair loss - so it's not calories and it's definitely not nutrients - it's something else. And it gives me pause.
I think people do not eat enough protein on Keto. It’s very hard to balance fat and protein on Keto. If your body is switching entirely to a new way of burning fat and using calories, it’s understandable. I had been doing Keto for 3 months before i started losing hair.

I get my hair colored but its never been unhealthy. My hair got very thin and it looked like I chopped it off. Been dealing with this since November and I keep losing and gaining weight. Its actually a hard diet because upping your fats is hard to do and keep calories down
You don't want to keep calories down on keto. Not until you get your body into "fat adaptability". And try adding an "essential amino acids" supplement to you diet. It helped me get my hair and muscles back.

a good protein source is red meat/meat in general. eggs. ect. in fact they're a good source of every nutrient you need. I only eat meat and do great! I eat zero veg/fruit/plant ect. have amazing health and nutrition. i would only touch plant sources if I had no other choice and wast starving.

iam 33 and on a 0 carb diet for the last 6 months. I can notice thining and less density of hair around my hairline. Iam panicking over this. Idk if its the diet or genetic thing. I have lost a lot of weight too.
D Did the hair loss stop? How long did it take? I have lost 50 lbs so far (took 8 months) and I started losing hair at around month 6. I don't feel that we are getting a good answer to the hair loss issue. I eat more protein now than ever and I am definitely NOT stressed out. There is something specifically about carb restriction that causes it.

Let's be realistic. The American Keto diet has you taking in FAR more protein than most diets worldwide. This is not a valid reason. Secondly, any diet that makes hair fall out (In clumps as many in the comments have said) should be looked at with an air of healthy skepticism, and not simply dismiss the concerns as "normal", with claims they will self resolve. This is no different than the vegans. It's time to admit that nutrition science is far from complete, and although to our scientific understanding currently it looks like there are no pertinent nutrients that are missed on keto, or physical mechanisms that are negative in the long term, we may be completely wrong, and science will discover it in the future.

I can’t digest most vegetables. I’m bloated, in pain and have terrible digestive issues. I do eat veggies but it took a lot of adding, subtracting from my diet to figure it out. keto certainly helped with that.
Yeah...me too! 55 years old, achy joints, migraine headaches, brain fog, excess weight--all gone when I eat keto. I'd love to be eating bowls of oatmeal with maple syrup for breakfast, but some things just aren't worth it. Collagen helped stop my hair loss. I found the keto collagen and it works well.
Hair shedding increases notably when I was actively trying to killing off yeast overgrowth.

carbs aren't necessary. neither is fiber. veg and fruits aren't nutrient dense. meat is. I only eat meat and do great.

I get my hair colored but its never been unhealthy. My hair got very thin and it looked like I chopped it off. Been dealing with this since November and I keep losing and gaining weight. Its actually a hard diet because upping your fats is hard to do and keep calories down
You don't want to keep calories down on keto. Not until you get your body into "fat adaptability". And try adding an "essential amino acids" supplement to you diet. It helped me get my hair and muscles back.

Your vlog is exceptional. Thank you for the info. I have always been a hairy devel. My noggin has always been dense. Hair is on my entire body; except my back. Now my hair is thinning. So I infer that I am ketogenic. Also, I seem to have an endless stream of skin conditions. Hives and itching bumps all over my arms and legs. Are the skin conditions because of ketogenisis or some other mechanism?
It must be something that you're eating. I've been on Keto for 1 1/2 years and don't have those issues.
I eat chia seeds, 3 tablespoons, as part of my morning routine. They say they r a good protein source, w all the essential amino acids. Do u agree that they r a reliable protein source bc I've always doubted non animal protein sources.
a good protein source is red meat/meat in general. eggs. ect. in fact they're a good source of every nutrient you need. I only eat meat and do great! I eat zero veg/fruit/plant ect. have amazing health and nutrition.
i would only touch plant sources if I had no other choice and wast starving.

iam 33 and on a 0 carb diet for the last 6 months. I can notice thining and less density of hair around my hairline. Iam panicking over this. Idk if its the diet or genetic thing. I have lost a lot of weight too.

Did the hair loss stop? How long did it take? I have lost 50 lbs so far (took 8 months) and I started losing hair at around month 6. I don't feel that we are getting a good answer to the hair loss issue. I eat more protein now than ever and I am definitely NOT stressed out. There is something specifically about carb restriction that causes it.
@@longtimelo there is another lady who did carnivore and said she's adding fruits and some other bits to get her hormones better. The strong sisters also seem to be adding some other foods back. I don't know the answer but I'm am intrigued if women actually needs carbs for our hormones 🤷
Let's be realistic. The American Keto diet has you taking in FAR more protein than most diets worldwide. This is not a valid reason.
Secondly, any diet that makes hair fall out (In clumps as many in the comments have said) should be looked at with an air of healthy skepticism, and not simply dismiss the concerns as "normal", with claims they will self resolve. This is no different than the vegans. It's time to admit that nutrition science is far from complete, and although to our scientific understanding currently it looks like there are no pertinent nutrients that are missed on keto, or physical mechanisms that are negative in the long term, we may be completely wrong, and science will discover it in the future.

I can’t digest most vegetables. I’m bloated, in pain and have terrible digestive issues. I do eat veggies but it took a lot of adding, subtracting from my diet to figure it out. keto certainly helped with that.

I'd love to be eating bowls of oatmeal with maple syrup for breakfast, but some things just aren't worth it.
Going to increase my mineral intake & start taking my kelp iodine supplement to combat the hair fall now that my thyroid function is ramping up.
