I am on Keto for 1y. I count macros or calorie no more, but I think I am eating 30-50g carbs per day. I do TRE 6:18. But I have a problem, I am in ketosis probably whole day (I using Acetrack and ketomojo) and if I exercise, my BG go up 110-126 and stays there. But my ketones are 1,5-2 anyways, what should be not normal (BG up, Ketones down). If I eat too much protein, this happens too. Is my body preferring fat and somewhat ignoring BG? Despite this, my HbA1c is still 4.8. I am worrying I overdoing something. Is this Dr Cywes insulin suppression ?
Your blood glucose is rising because your body is breaking down protein (muscle) - you'd benefit on some honey/fruit and/or increasing your protein pre workouts.

@@The_Bearbarian From InBody results I do not think I am loosing muscle for gluconeogenesis , I am more worried I am eating too much protein and that is turned to glucose but in ketosis is insulin output suppressed and that leads to glucose rising.
@ inbody won't show this number my dude. We're talking amino acids here. Gluconeogenysis isn't something to be worried about. Increase your cals and nail your rest. If you genuinely are concerned, it may be worth putting some refeeds in. Ketosis isn't something you should constantly be in. That metabolic flexibility works both ways and many people end up insulin resistant because the refuse to acknowledge carbohydrates have benefits too.

@@The_Bearbarian you are saying I am loosing muscle, also it must be to see on body composition. It is not, my muscle mass goes up. My problem with glucose level is not insulin resistance, my fasting insulin is 5.7 and my HOMA-IR is 1.3. My goal is not to be always in ketosis. But I am, that is my problem. And I am eating, relative seen, more carbs as people usually do on keto. I had severe NAFLD, my ALT was 144 (upper range is 25) especially from fructose and than I was diagnosed with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. If I eat too many carbs, my health problems goes worse. Therefore I must be really cautious what I do. In this moment is my HbA1c 4.8, so my day glucose levels are in short term not acute problem yet. But I looking if some one has similar "problems".
I lost 75 lbs permanently with a modified ketogenic diet. Becoming "fat-adapted" just means retraining your metabolism to become more efficient at burning stored bodyfat and less glucose-dependent. This requires a few lifestyle changes, including eating and exercising in a certain way. I teach this in an interactive video course through my channel and mobile app. Sign up for a free trial and try it for yourself!
Kinesiology major here, just thought I would share that my teacher presented a lot of evidence that keto is bad for you long term. Their main argument is the free fatty acid. I want to do keto, and all this RUclips videos make it look good but my teachers really made it seem like it’s not good long term. I also read that muscles do grow and respond to carbs a lot more efficiently than fats. Brains utilize fat better, and muscles utilize carbs better. So just have both right? I’m thinking only have carbs right before a work out, that way the muscles will soak it up then avoid carbs thru out the rest of the day.
so I eat ZERO carbs. the only carbs I get are from eggs.. I am not fat adapted. I'm tired. I do some electrolytes, and eat between 60-70% of calories from fat. Stools are (when they happen) perfect, so not too much fat, not too little. Why don't I get that fat energy rush like people in Ketosis?
@@joeberrouard3743 today is 56 days. Zero sugar substitutes. Basically eat Steak, Ground Beef, Eggs, occasional chicken, fish. I've had 2 oz of cheese in the past week or so. Supplement with 5-MTHF 1mg due to MTHFR genetics, and B-12. I've lost about 15 lbs during this diet. Just after Christmas I came down with whatever is going around, fever, sore throat, pain, fatigue, been slowly recovering from that for the past few weeks, but even before that, energy wasn't what I have been hearing/expecting from a zero carb diet. assuming I'm doing more gluconeogenesis than fat burning but not testing for ketones. I've touched keto breath once during a 3 day fast but haven't noticed it during this.
What is your waking body temp and temps later in day. Sounds like classic thyroid shutdown...some people are prone to this--chronic keto or meato can trigger stress mechanisms which tell body to conserve energy. Probably great if you need to survive an ice age or nuclear winter...not so ideal now.
@@keralee normally I don't measure my temp, but I did yesterday, because after hitting the gym for a very light set of activity (2 miles walking, stretching, sauna, hot tub, steam), I felt kinda crappy e.g. feverish and sore and fatigued.. was 99.3. Which I don't know, is that carry over from being sick with fever 2 weeks ago and having a persistent cough or somethign else? Too much going on/too many factors right now. All I know is I feel like shit. normally I'm high 97/low 98s if I ever check
@@gm3353 Sounds like you are indeed sick. When you recover, you can effectively monitor your metabolic rate/thyroid activity via body temp... If its not 98.6 or higher its due to reduced metabolic rate. And prolonged ketosis can reduce metabolism, which means constant fatigue...seems to be genetic as not all appear affected by this. Retraining body to burn carbs can fix the problem--see Fire In A Bottle yt for tips on how.
Intermittent fasting has serious diminishing returns the lower your body fat percentage is. There's nothing wrong with IF, its just not necessary for long periods for guys in this good of shape with far more muscle than your average dude. IF is a tool. Understand how its used, use it correctly. Slow it down when you reach your goal weight.
@@addisonking3202 For me anyway. I Never tried to go into ketosis. I cut out all carbs for a while but went hypoglycemic so often it concerned my doctor. I switched to low carb. That's been a lot more manageable for me.
@@addisonking3202 Technically the carbs for low blood sugar isn't what kicks you out of ketosis. Carbs aren't what kick you out. It's insulin that does. If you have low blood sugar, it's because you took too much insulin. You spiked your insulin before you took in the carbs to treat the low (that's why you're low). You need less insulin.
Well, I feel even more stupid after watching this. I still don’t know how to burn fat instead of carbs. I’ve been on a strict keto with no drinking for 11 days and I’ve only lost 1 pound at the moment doing 16/8 IF, to get myself ready for three day water fast. I guess that’s when the weight comes off. I’ve built a lot of muscle over the last two years in the gym, you could almost say I’m bulking. But being post menopausal, and the fat over the muscle just keeps growing as well as the muscle, I’m guessing it’s some kind of hormone thing. Are used to burn fat and used to be quite svelte. At least I’m strong as an ox, I just wish I didn’t look like one.
11 days is nothing... Just keep doing it!! Keto is for life. It takes at least 3 months to get fat-adapted. And if you cheat - you're just cheating yourself.

Drop your dietary fats, prioritize protein and don't rush into an intermittent or longer fasting schedule. You will know when you're ready for it. Let your body take the time it needs to transition and adapt. Eat to satiety, hydrate, relax/manage stress and ensure good sleep hygiene. You are on the right track! It will get better and better over time

@thomasdelauer, I have a question then; I have a daughter that is epileptic, and I know Keto works for epileptics but what about someone who has Tourette's? I also have a 16-year-old daughter who has Tourette's and she also has developed neurological issues over the past couple of years. Is there any correlation?
When dealing with medical issues, you really want a medical doctor's input. Unless it is against their recommended diet, what is the harm is trying it. The epileptic keto diet is close to but not the same as the one RUclips is proposing.
The medicine for all neurological disease is fat. The brain is 60% fat and not only have we've been starving it, we also been killing it with inflammation from carbohydrates.
Hey there, I'm a lifelong epileptic. I'm 44 years old and had tried everything throughout my adult life. The only thing that has given me real relief from my epilepsy is carnivore - high fat. The epilepsy is 99% resolved - i think ill always be epileptic, i have to make sure im getting enough fat and mind my menstrual cycle because the hormones can be a trigger for women too. The panic attacks went away, the anxiety went away, the brain fog went away - and I didn't even know I had brain fog?? All my life I thought it was normal to feel the way I felt 🤦🏾♀️ I was so wrong... depression went away, night terrors went away, I could go on. Plus I dropped 70lb! Didn't think that would happen 🤷🏾♀️ So. I also have a daughter who has had three seizures. She's 15. She literally had them every September from 2016. I don't want her to live like how I did with epilepsy. My parents never looked into it, they just had me on various drugs. So, I started carnivore 10th Dec 2019 for 30 days - just to see. Because I'd tried everything else. It's been 4 years now and I'll never go back to how I was eating before - plant based bodybuilders diet - very low fat - zero to none 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ What I've learned over 4 years is that fat is so essential to brain health and mental health you wouldn't believe... My daughter isn't on a carnivore diet, but I make sure she has plenty of protein from red meat, the associated fat, extra fat by way of butter and beef fat to cook in, and whole eggs and season with salt - to taste. Everyday. She also has chicken occasionally too. She hasn't had a seizure since. And she is more focused at school and doing way better!! She's not a fan of rice or pasta unless it has cheese on it - mac n cheese for eg, and even then, its not too much pasta. So, I'm no medic, just a mum of 3, I would recommend you add red meat, whole eggs and fats like butter and beef fat to your children's diet and watch what happens. Make those foods the majority on their plate and tell them to prioritise the meat and eggs and fat first, and eat the carbs last! I think it will work with the tourrett too. My oldest son is autistic and he also does very well on a meat/fat based diet. I also put my dogs on raw carnivore and they're like different animals now! They turn their noses up at regular dog food and kibble!! Good luck with everything xxx
yeah, no. Fat adaptation comes from being healthy, natural state of the body is to burn either fat or carbs but carbs require more nutrients like magnesium and b1. You can have a better RQ just by taking Glynac and reducing the oxidative stress so the body can burn fat more easily. He is basically wrong on most fronts, the amount if misinformation in the nutrition world is amazing
@@jennesset1102insulin signals the body to switch from fat burning to glucose burning, when insulin doesn't work (insulin resistance), you are stuck into perpetual fat burning, so glucose you eat / created by gluconeogenesis is not used, and it accumulates in the blood.
@@pessumpower when your insulin resistant you don't burn fat at all. you store it. This is becuase your (fasting) insulin is chronically high and fat burning is nearly impossible. Otherwise type 2 diabetics would be ripped and not fat
@@DaveThomson Wrong, diabetics are stuck in chronic fat oxidation (well known scientific fact.), never switching to glucose burning. It's a common misconception from the low carb sphere, and from people that "learned" metabolism from youtube. If a diabetic person would "not be able to burn fat" it would instantly die the moment he's not eating. Reason glucose is too high is that they are NOT using/storying it, because insulin doesn't work. Being insulin sensitive means insulin works as intended, so when you eat, you switch to glucose burning, glycogen/fat storing, lowering stress hormones (cortisol/glucagon/adrenaline) so inflammatory processes can start (literally how your body heals/repair). Chronically high cortisol keeps you in a chronic inflammation suppression state, which will make you feel like you "healed everything" as infalmmation is halted. but the moment you eat even a little bit of carbs everything come back amplified. Insulin also works in tandem with leptin to provide satiety, when it doesn't work you are always hungry. Insulin resistance is basically always caused by liver fat accumulation: main causes are Fructose, some of the saturated fatty acids, alcohol, trans fats. Protein, monounsatured fats, starch (glucose), seems to be the best sources of calories.
We recorded multiple topics and space out releases based on what is relevant at the time. We watch metrics pretty close for this. Is it “weird” or “smart yet different” 🤣
What a waste of time, just eat healthier real foods and be in a calorie deficit to lose weight and be healthy. You burn both carbs and fat at the same time. Yeah you might burn more fat on a keto diet but guess what? That does not matter anyways because you are also consuming more fat on a keto diet remember!? so it really ends up coming back to a calorie equation.

If your A1C is 4.8 you are doing great.
My BG also goes higher when I exercise.
You don’t lose weight with keto. You lost weight not eating crap.
You can “lose weight” doing anything as long as it’s under metabolic load required
If your liver is healthy it produces all the glucose your muscles need.
Go tell your teacher to look at Dave Feldman's work.

so I eat ZERO carbs. the only carbs I get are from eggs.. I am not fat adapted. I'm tired. I do some electrolytes, and eat between 60-70% of calories from fat. Stools are (when they happen) perfect, so not too much fat, not too little. Why don't I get that fat energy rush like people in Ketosis?
How long have you been doing this diet? Do you eat any zero carb sugar substitutes?
@@joeberrouard3743 today is 56 days. Zero sugar substitutes. Basically eat Steak, Ground Beef, Eggs, occasional chicken, fish. I've had 2 oz of cheese in the past week or so. Drink water only including Sole water (basically super saturated solution of real salt in water dilluted with water to keep the electrolytes balanced.

I can't feel whether I'm in ketosis, but I can tell based on how much insulin I am using (T1D).
I'm a T1D as well. I noticed as I got leaner with diet and exercise. I had to take significantly less insulin.
I’m also T1Diabetic. Do you struggle with having to eat/drink carbs for low blood sugars and going out of ketosis because of this?
@@addisonking3202 For me anyway. I Never tried to go into ketosis. I cut out all carbs for a while but went hypoglycemic so often it concerned my doctor. I switched to low carb. That's been a lot more manageable for me.
@@addisonking3202
Technically the carbs for low blood sugar isn't what kicks you out of ketosis. Carbs aren't what kick you out. It's insulin that does.
If you have low blood sugar, it's because you took too much insulin. You spiked your insulin before you took in the carbs to treat the low (that's why you're low). You need less insulin.
Interesting! How many units a day about are you taking when you’re in keto?
This is not the same for women with cycles and new data coming out with Stacy sims on fasting and carbs for women .

Oh don't be so harsh on yourself 😢
11 days is nothing... Just keep doing it!! Keto is for life. It takes at least 3 months to get fat-adapted. And if you cheat - you're just cheating yourself.

Drop your dietary fats, prioritize protein and don't rush into an intermittent or longer fasting schedule. You will know when you're ready for it.
@@Santa-ny1yp, We have been to a specialist but honestly didn’t get anywhere with that dr. Nutrition seems to be the answer to so many health issues.
@tamaybe fasting for repair?1424
Didn't think that would happen 🤷🏾♀️
So.
It's been 4 years now and I'll never go back to how I was eating before - plant based bodybuilders diet - very low fat - zero to none 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
What I've learned over 4 years is that fat is so essential to brain health and mental health you wouldn't believe...

Black coffee after waking up
You cannot burn fat until you have used all stored glycogen
best way to burn fat instead of glucose is to become a diabetic they are pros at that.
Explain?
@@pessumpower #1, are we talking T2D?
