2 years ago I started having intense pain in my left knee. Went to the doctor, he asked a couple of questions, squeezed my knee then told me I had to have surgery. I ignored him, started Keto and intermittent fasting. After losing about 15 pounds, from 315 to 300 my knees have never felt better, no need for surgery!! Thank you Thomas! Now I learned that these terms are misused really often.
    "Fat adaptation is fuel utilisation.
Keto adaptation is the adaptation to utilizing ketones as signal divices and higher levels of energy."
    ...
"Keto adaptation is where your body has seen ketons in the blood for so long that it knows how to react on them. Because they are not just a fuel, they are a signaling device (...) means when the brain recognizes the ketones they can bounce a signale off of them to trigger different metabolic things. (...) Basically it unlocks more of your genes for you. It unlocks more of your genetic code so you can rebuild tissue so you can have more stem cells."
This is so to the point and really motivating.

Fact check on muscle glycogen: Muscle cell glycogen appears to function as an immediate reserve source of available glucose for muscle cells. Other cells that contain small amounts use it locally, as well. As muscle cells lack glucose-6-phosphatase, which is required to pass glucose into the blood, the glycogen they store is available solely for internal use and is not shared with other cells. This is in contrast to liver cells, which, on demand, readily do break down their stored glycogen into glucose and send it through the blood stream as fuel for other organs. So no, muscle glycogen does not go back into the blood stream or to the liver to be utilized.

I started watching Thomas’ videos during lockdown and I started keto then. I lost a ton of weight but then I fell off the wagon and gained it back. (Not ketos fault lol any diet can have rebound if you go too hard too fast too long). I’ve been back on it 6 weeks. But the thing is, I do it because it makes me feel good, and curbs my appetite. No diet is a magic bullet for weight loss. You want to lose weight, eat at a calorie deficit and don’t forget to do maintenance phases to get into equilibrium with your new setting point. But the other benefits of keto are why it’s been the most successful for me personally.

The muscles WON'T use the locally stored glycogen for fuel?! Does it just stay there?! I always thought the muscle glycogen provided the advantage of INSTANT RESPONSE CAPABILITY...because, when you gotta move, you gotta move, like, NOW...Doesn't unused sugar end up getting stored as fat? I'm thinking I might end up with...fatty muscles...hehehe...

Well sometimes an ingredient in one thing, may interact with an ingredient in another in an unfavorable way. For instance some ingredients may potentiate or even lessen the effect of another ingredient.
What I do first is go to Google and type in "Drug interaction checker" and you can add different types of drugs, or supplements to a list and then it will run them through and tell you if they interact negatively with one another. The only issue I've found is that many times they don't have every type of supplement. It's mostly for prescribed medicine, but they do have some supplements listed.
I take a ton of supplements like you, and I've never had an issue, but sometimes supplements will even interact with prescribed medicine too.
Just always try to research everything you can about a supplement before you take it, and you'll be fine. Well, I wrote quite the response, and now it's time to go take my 457 supplements 😂 ✌️

The keto diet has been difficult to follow in the past. I would find myself craving carbs and not eating enough fats because I found the whole thing too messy to maintain. HyperKeto, on the other hand, was a perfect solution to my problem. They offer a personalized keto plan that's easy to stick to and 100% customized for your goals! The best

I know this is a couple of years old and I don't know if you'll still monitor or reply to comments. I have a couple of questions:
When you state that "keto-adaptation is when we've been in ketosis for so long that the body is responding to the presence of ketones in the blood differently" and later "our body knows how to react to them" "to trigger different metabolic things" and some examples you gave were around rebuilding tissue and making more stem cells - what else do we need to know about this process? Is this the main reason we want to be ketone adapted - for regenerative (staying as youthful as possible) purposes?
Wouldn't we want to be BOTH fat AND ketone adapted - and is this achieved by keeping our carb intake very low (or even zero) AS WELL AS by participating in low-intensity endurance type of activities?

I enjoy your videos (for me less technical and more practical is better). Thanks. I have recently started eating keto (3 weeks in). I have a lingering question about exercising. You mention in the video that endurance athletes may be fat adapted. Don't endurance athletes mainly spend their time working out in an anaerobic state, so they are mainly using carbs for energy? If a person wants to burn fat, should they do work light work outs in an aerobic state. I am trying to figure out how to exercise to optimize burning fat. Thanks for your help. (to anybody who'd like to help me out)

The HyperKeto program is an incredible way to take control of one's diet and embrace a healthy lifestyle. It has taken all the research and work out of finding the perfect keto-friendly foods and provides so many great recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Not only does it help with weight loss by cutting off carbs, but also balances our moods so

Thank you for the content! Its just insanely good. I love how i feel on keto, but have to eat carbs at least once a week due to work events. It surely prevents my ketosis. But is it healthy to eat keto without going to ketosis?

I think you got a great plan and my understanding is you don't want to be in ketosis 24/7 forever .

Im not in ketosis. My breath is fine lol. I also never had keto flu. My carbs are close to 40 g due to the 3 cups of raw milk kefir. But im not hungry. Ive dropped 4 dress sizes in 21 days. Im 3 weeks in, and seems to be sustaining. Even if my calories are low due to meat being satiating, i enjoy walking daily up to 3 hours, even in the heat.
I failed previous attempts because i couldnt get past the ketosis stage. I did not transition to ketosis successfully.

No matter how much I fast or do a Leto diet now, my pee strips won’t change color. If I go on vacation for a few weeks and eat lots of junk food and sugar, then do Keto after getting back, I get no Keto flu or any low blood sugar symptoms. So would that be keto and fat adapted?

I did carnivore for Jan Feb 2020. I started keto jan 2021. Both times, when my blood first showed ketones, I felt amazing. Clear minded, calm, almost euphoric for about three days. Then it goes away and I become bloated, hungry (even at 4000 calories at the right macro ratio) and really cranky. I think I'm not fat adapted right?

  • @rwfan2u

I've been STRICT keto since January 1, but I'm the only one in my family who does keto. I no longer crave carbs, but I know that sooner or later I'll be forced to have carbs. I'm aiming for fat adaptation, so I still have a couple weeks to go. I'm worried that when I'm forced to eat carbs for a meal, it'll reset my fat adaptation phase!

    • @DanielosVK

You won't reset anything if you live a healthy life and have a diet which promotes insulin sensitivity, e.g. Mediterrean diet.

Hi Thomas, How does a guy like Eliud Kipchoge run 4:35 mile pace for over 26 miles? I realize his body has fat stores to cover the energy needs, but what is the physiology to use it at that rate for 2 hours? Is there a lesson to be learned for mortals trying to increase strength and endurance?

But honestly their reviews are terrible so am at a crossroads do continue looking for the old ones should I upgrade or should I just go and try to buy a completely different option to measure my ketones.

I have a hard time keeping my calories above 1000. Yesterday I had both a protein and collagen shake, an avocado, some goat cheese and some meats for lunch! I even added both coconut oil and macadamia nut oil to my dinner of wild haddock, brussel sprouts and Greek salad, and my food diary said I only consumed a little over 800 calories!

So, there's different topic that should be talked about like how long does it take for you to LOSE your fat adaptation, and how cycling carbs affects getting to fat adaptation. In the beggining i thought i would be the 3months (average) non stop but with this video seems like it doesn't seem to be that way and that would kinda help more people to try it.
