    6:07 7:32 SUMMARY to help activate PPAR peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors. 1. Don't eat between meals. 2. Drink green tea (or coffee) between meals. 3. Do cardio exercise throughout the day BEFORE meals (body doesn't burn fat when insulin is elevated) -4. Diversity of foods (beef, salmon, liver, eggs, sardines ...)

    @anask8ter045 3 года назад +31

    Reasons:
    1. Obese ppl have harder time getting fat adapted; reason may be you need help to get fat adapted. Solutions: have green tea, low intensity cardio either fasted or in between meals.
    2. Give yourself adequate time in between meals. Stop constantly snacking even if it's keto. Solution: have clear and defined periods for eating and not eating.
    3. You're not getting enough diversity in your diet when eating. Solution: green tea or coffee (caffeine) in between defined time meals, eat diverse veggies during meals; these help get different micronutrients and types of fatty acids to inc good bacterias in your gut.

    Thanks Thomas! I needed this video. I have been on Keto & following you since Apr. 2021. I have lost 40# dropping to 200# over this time. but recently the loss has slowed and I have plateaued at 1-2 pounds a week loss. Still good but not great. More important than the loss I have reversed type 2 diabetes and avoided medication. I was becoming frustrated with myself for the slowing of loss. But after listening to you this morning I have recognized some lapses in behavior I shall correct and feel I can get the loss moving again at a few more pounds a week. But a lot of what you say did make good sense and I appreciate your ongoing advice and videos. And I appreciate you not taking the information to a pay for platform.

    If you are extra obese, there may be some interference to fat burning which may be caused by the obese status.
    To me it seemed like once I got going to a certain point, it clicked in. It required patience, persistence and pragmatism.
    It took a little longer than I wanted it to but when it did, I started losing weight past any point I ever previously achieved. I could also feel the difference and my appetite changed. It was kind of amazing and totally worth that difficult phase. I believe there was a lot of fat wrapped around my liver, pancreas, ect and it was interfering with enzyme secretion or something. Once I got started I think that function started to improve and then real noticeable changes started happening fast. ! Stay with it !

    My average glucose is 84 and ketones 0.5. Ending week 4. Main benefit has been reduced anxiety. Not much weight loss. Very fatigued and low energy. Very hungry, seems like my body is craving more beneficial fats and the higher nutrition keto is providing. I’m overweight at 173 lbs, 5’6, 51 yrs old. Most of it from Covid gym closure, I was 150 lbs prior to Covid, got to 160 lbs working out last summer but then fell off exercise. Green tea and Yerba mate do help curb appetite. To follow your advice, I will add more cruciferous veggies busy work day got in the way of that and my main meals were eggs +yeast for one meal and grass fed beef franks with mustard and sauerkraut for the other meal. Avocado and meat stick for snacks. Is fat adapted more common at 3 months or 2 months for most people?? Thx for all your work!😊

      I have the same problem. I think I may have fasted too much in the past as I lost a bunch of weight a few years ago and was fully fat adapted for at least 9 months. I fell off the wagon for a few years and now I’m loosing weight but it takes me minimum 2-3 days to get into ketosis. My problem is I do max 5 day fasts at a time or minimum 18 hour daily fasts, so I’m always kicking myself out of ketosis and then have to start the journey again. I actually drink green tea and play a lot of soccer, so it’s quite confusing to me why I can’t get fat adapted again.

    I'm opposite - can i get fat adapted too fast (2-3days)?. 120kg (265 pounds) and after eating full day of meat onlydishes i've decided to try keto (first diet in my life). After constantly eating snacks, potato chips, pizzas - all junk food and sweet things + sodas 24/7 (+ tons of sweet fruits) i've went 2days meat (i know u need a balanced diet- thats how i got into keto). Third day instead of feeling constant hunger when i saw a cookie i felt nothing, same as if i was looking at book or other item. Instantly went to I-fasting cause i wasn't hungry most of time, doing 16h:8h split.
    Im 4rd week on Keto, adapted most of healthy guidelines (high q meats, fishes, tons of vegies some berries and alot of different seeds).
    Thing is: it still looks too easy, 10-15 years of eating junk food and sweets and gaining like 40kg (i was slim for like 25years, eating home made foods and meat/fruits from own village plantation).
    10-15y of constant cravings, having easy access to instant available in a city carb junk food, eating from morning to midnight - and after 2-3 days keto, i dont ever feel really hungry and when i look at pizza or freshly baked cake i feel 0 cravings.
    Also didnt have any low mood/energy or any problems. Woke up 3rd day with no carbs and was feeling full of energy all day.

    A glucose monitor and testing 1 hr after every meal will help people find the triggers that spike their blood sugar (everyone is different). For me it was “sugar free” popsicles before bed that actually have maltodextrin - spiked me worse than sugar. Read your labels. Glucose monitor is a must for starting keto imo. Does decaf green tea work? Or does it have to be caf? I am overweight and have been intermittent fasting since mid-April. I fast 16/8 most days, do OMAD twice a week, and fast 48 hours once a month. I eat paleo, not keto, but my carbs are usually under 20 grams a day. I lost an initial 6 pounds in April, water weight, I'm sure. But I've been yoyoing up and down 2 pounds ever since. I'm 61. Any advice?

      Sometimes if you are not eating enough calories and nutrients in your eating window, your body assumes you are starving and it will shut down metabolism

      The Green and Macha I have are both decaf, I also have a great Ayurveda Tea from Sikkim I can recommend. It is superb before sleep. Sikkim is special since they banned all pesticides in Tea. Someone wrote that fasting hinders fat adaption but it certainly have helped fix my bad metabolism. I only did 48 hour and IF(always).

      @@RoyaDani Thanks! I'd been wondering if that might be the problem. On the16/8 days, I can usually only manage 1600 calories. And on the OMAD days, it's more like 1000. The thing is that I now don't get hungry in the mornings, and I've been reluctant to force myself to eat when I'm wanting to lose weight. Bottom line is that I think all this is harder when one is 61. I maintained a weight of 135 through my 40s with no trouble at all, but then the fat started creeping on through my 50s. I wish I'd known about intermittent fasting sooner. But I'm going to keep trying.

      @@j.m.ney-grimm3029 I remember hearing in one of the RUclips videos that if you fast almost every day your body gets used to the stress and it won't have the effect as if you only fasted once in a while. It might be good to go off fasting and just eat normally but healthy for 2-3 weeks and then do fasting again to shock your body to lose weight.

    My question isn't related to this, but it is never covered in anyone's channel....
    ? If you are on medications to treat whatever your issue is, and begin (any) type of diet or "life style", when does one realize that the (program) one has chosen has/is correcting thier medical issue, i.e. high blood pressure, T2 diabetes, etc.. So they can begin to wean off the meds to live "drug" free.... If it's possible...

    • @shawnmulberry774
      @shawnmulberry774 3 года назад

      My sister connected with virtahealth dot com and apparently they are real MDs doing that sort of thing. They take her insurance. You have to develop a relationship with a doctor that will help you off meds but that is assuming you seriously change your diet and lifestyle. People (like Thomas) who are not doctors cannot give you medical advice (legally) or advise you to discontinue prescribed medications, even if he are guiding you in that direction. And I think some doctors are not inclined to try this sort of thing. I have a dim view of that type.

      Thomas did a video some time ago where he was explaining research that showed that exercising in a fasted state can improve fat reduction in the area(s) used by up to 10% more than fat is reduced in other areas. It's not much, but it's something and the closest thing we have to spot reduction for fat loss.
      So I was just throwing out that suggestion as something you could try.
