Lindsey didn’t want to go on tour so Stevie got up and attaked him and then he chased Stevie around Christine’s house and front yard. Stevie ended up running down the street and Lindsey chased after her with his car and caught up to her, When the rest of the band caught up to them Lindsey had Stevie over the hood of his car with his hands around her throat. Mick pulled him off of her and they kicked him out
@@JJ-19874 - Sorta true. First, Lindsey was sorta "duped" into making the "Tango in the Night" record. Initially, Lindsey was working on a solo project and he decided to throw both Mick and John a "bone," by letting them play on some of his songs. Mick, the smooth persuader that he is, managed to talk Lindsey into turning the project into a Fleetwood Mac record, which Lindsey admits he let it happen. Second, during the recording of Tango, which was predominantly done at Lindsey's house, Stevie was mostly absent and she was battling a very bad drug addiction. When she did show up, she was was wasted/drunk, so much so, Lindsey had to discard her singing because it was terrible. Instead he used a Fairlight Synth. to piece together Stevie's voice from past songs to incorporate on the album (fucking genius lol). Things like that are the reason they still feud.....and 'the fallout' from his well-timed cough, probably contributed to him deciding he just couldnt do the tour with fleetwood.
Also, Lindsey wanted to return to his solo work. After Tango was completed, he never really had intentions of remaining in the band. His songs on Tango were actually the work for his solo album that were “morphed” into the album. Four years later (in 1992), “Out of the Cradle” would be released. Which, IMO displays some of Lindsey’s best work.
And John was having seizures related to his alcoholism around that time, as well. It was only Lindey and Christine for much of the album. A lot of the drums are electronic, a lot of the bass is Lindsey on bass guitar or synth bass, and even some of the "Stevie" sounding vocals are Lindsey on vocoder and tape manipulation. He literally crafted a Fleetwood Mac record and allowed everyone to put their names on it...he was burnt.
@@heaintloveu ironically she was still on drugs even after rehab. Of course that was no fault of her own, the doctors prescribed those drugs. But it's still was a drug problem that she had.
Thanks, this was a great piece of insight into the beginnings of Fleetwood Mac and the sentiments and views of each person on the band's value when performing together.
I think Lindsey had his reasons not to tour you lose the love of you're life, and not to be rude but Stevie has been with alot of guys it had to hurt Lindsey to see that all go down right in front of him and I think Lindsey was ready to be an adult and some of the band still thought it was the 70s with the drugs and drinking so i don't blame Lindsey for not touring he needed his space... But I don't get why there is still a problem to this day with him and Stevie it's water under the bridge let it go forgive just don't forget Lindsey you guys are way to good of a band not to be in the studio making one more album for us real fans i really think there last album should be called the last rumor but i doubt they'll go there to much to live up to and there all to old but I'm hoping for one more album.
Brent R Well, let's face it, Lindsey's solo career never really took off the way that Stevie's did, and 'Big Love' was the only song Lindsey did on that album that hit big. Compare Lindsey's solo album debut 'Law and Order' and his single 'Trouble' to Stevie's chart-topping 'Bella Donna' album and its hit singles 'Edge of Seventeen,' 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around,' and 'Leather and Lace.' Lindsay's 'Big Love' had a much better chance of hitting as part of a Fleetwood Mac album than on a solo album where it stood a good chance of being forgotten. And as for the drug use, Lindsey at that point wasn't even hanging around the rest of the band members all that much anymore, and he still could've gone on one more tour before quitting. I think he was just being petulant, but that's just me. When you've made a commitment to a tour and fans have already paid money for tickets, it's very disrespectful and unprofessional to pull out at the last minute.
***** Yeah, but you still don't treat a paying audience like that by pulling out of a tour at the last minute, especially not after having committed to the album, the tour, and the videos. And I do agree with you that whatever Lindsey and Stevie's issues are they should get over it already. He's married and has kids and it's 2016 for Pete's sake.
It was a jerk move for Lindsey to quit after committing to a tour. His rational for this was that life on "the road" was ten times more crazy than the studio. Apparently, the recording of "Tango" was unconventional to say the least. Some of that was Lindsey's doing (recording the album in his home studio), but the rest was primarily on Stevie, and to a lesser degree, Mick. Not sure what Christine did other than bring in a bunch of great songs, two of which became smash hit singles (with Lindsey's help of course). Stevie had supposedly "cleaned up her act." That was wishful thinking. She was barely present for sessions and when she was there, she was sloshed on a combination of tranqualizers/brandy. Stevie is wrong, the reason why she joined Fleetwood Mac is because of Buckingham. He said he would only join if they let Stevie join too. They never wanted Stevie in the first place, Buckingham carried her to success
@Cameron- The irony here is Lindsey really didn’t want to join Fleetwood Mac. He didn’t want to give up, what Stevie and he had, as a duo. He felt strongly that “they” could break through on their own despite the commercial failure of their first album. It was actually Stevie, who convinced Lindsey to join. One could understand Stevie’s position here, this was her last shot to make it in R&R. She was tired of working 3 jobs and living in poverty. It’s certainly interesting because if Lindsey would of put his foot down and said, no to Fleetwood Mac, what would have happened? Lindsey was already working on material for a 2nd shot at “Buckingham/Nicks II.” Would that 2nd album have included, Rhiannon, Monday Morning, So Afraid, and Landslide? I believe so. Whether or not they would have been received well in the music world, is the question. Fleetwood Mac had an established reputation, where as Buck/Nicks did not.
C. It’s still a fact that Lindsey carried Stevie to success because he’s the one who made the music, even after they joined Fleetwood Mac Lindsey still created and produced all of their songs. Don’t get me wrong I love Stevie, but other than writing a few songs per album she didn’t contribute much to the band. Lindsey is the one who put the team on his back with his production and instrumental talent.
@@zodspeed Stevie is a superior song writer and stage performer. Listen to the demos of her material she wrote those songs obviously Lindsey "produced" them. I love LB but SN is the star, fair or not.
Pete Blowers that’s completely wrong. She might be a better songwriter but not by much, thanks to Lindsey her songs were really good. And live performer? Holy shit that’s incredibly wrong. Lindsey is 100x the live performer that Stevie is. During their Fleetwood Mac shows she is literally just shaking a tambourine most of the time. Lindsey’s musical talents are soooo above and beyond Stevie’s to the point where you can’t compare them at all. You don’t understand music if you think writing lyrics are the most important aspect of making songs. You think Dreams hit #1 because “Thunder only happens when it’s raining”? Lol... the song hit #1 because of what LINDSEY did with her lyrics. Even Stevie said that once she hands her songs to Lindsey it’s completely out of her control how the song turns out.
Pete Blowers- Stevie is more of poet than a song writer. She writes long epic style poems. Because she has limited music playing ability (guitar and piano chords), creating melodies for her songs are very crude and basic. It was Lindsey’s responsibility to build the “frame work” for Stevie’s songs. Even Stevie has stated she was in “awe” with regards to Lindsey’s ability to turn her poems into songs. Christine McVie and Lindsey were the only two members of FM that could create and develop complete songs. Stevie’s songs would always need producing.
However, Mick already declared FM is already a retired band. I guess its a good call cause Christine McVie is gone, Lindsay Buckingham is not part of the band anymore. Stevie has been doing her solo concerts anyway. Mick and John are living comfortably.
Lindsey doesn't seem on the verge of quitting here! It's so fascinating to watch this because Tango is a fantastic album, they seem relatively happy, but years later they all said this was a very unhappy time.
I love Fleetwood Mac?I wonder if they all are still together and plan to tour again in the future?I have to admit that Stevie and Lindsey are my favorites, and helped make that group famous.
Lindsey is the thinking woman's Sex symbol. I mean he was and is not only so handsome but also so intelligent and well spoken. To me he is the focal point of FM. Stevie screwed up not staying with him. What a great guy!! Love you Lindsey!!
Wtf are you talking about? He was awful to her. She was miserable and that’s why they broke up. She didn’t miss out on anything, they weren’t great as a couple and he was very selfish. Once drugs became involved it was not going to end up well.
"I don't see any radical change on the horizon." - Christine Mc Vie I wonder how this interview would have been like if the others knew that Lindsey would quit the band just a few weeks before the tour would start. Stevie said that when Lindsey announced that she wanted to strangle him, while Mick was going "OH MY GOD!" since he realised the logistics of canceling the already booked tour. So Billy Burnette and Rick Vito were hastily brought in, steamed ready to do the tour and the tour went ahead as scheduled but with a few changes in the set list, since songs where Lindsey sang lead such as "Go your own way", "Never going back" and "Big Love" were all removed from the set list. People badmouth Burnette for not being able to replace Lindsey but to his credit, Burnette NEVER sang Lindsey' songs. The "Tango in the night" tour also saw the welcome return of songs from the Peter Green era, Rick Vito's blues playing bringing the band's roots back into forte. You've got to admire the band for being resilient: Lindsey wanted to pull the rug from underneath them but they didn't fall over, let alone miss a beat.
When they show up at restaurant for lunch stevie knew they need help fast lindsey said is both us or nil the rest is history stevie said I years money flow non-stop.the band was on roll big time.
I'm still trying to determine the timeline where Stevies teeth changed from natural to no resemblance to the past Stevie. Can the real slim shady please stand up.
Stevie, the reason you joined Fleetwood Mac is because Lindsey said both of you or neither. He was the only one who was actually offered a chance to join.
@@jordanlake471 It's true that she had that problem at the time. But it's also true that she didn't have much material. She had only written two songs for the Tango in the Night album. ('Seven Wonders' was not written by her.) P.S. It wasn't just klonopin. She also drank Brandy before her vocal sessions. Those two things combined meant that she was intoxicated during the recording of her songs.
It's definitely Stevie's phone in session album but....I actually LOVE the Tango in the Night album. It's the one FM album (after Rumours) that IS a solid listen with little ta NO filler...IDK, maybe it's just a nostalgic preference as well, but..Just don't listen to any of the others (after the self titled and Rumous CD) near as much as Tango....🤘🔥🤘

I've always liked Christine, she's a down to earth woman, in lots of ways.
Makes sense to try and make happier music with what was going on
I heard Stevie made the band boot Lindsey out of the band or she would quit and all because he smirked.
Ya I think it's top 3
I love Fleetwood Mac?I wonder if they all are still together and plan to tour again in the future?I have to admit that Stevie and Lindsey are my favorites, and helped make that group famous.
Where have you been Samuel? You need to catch up
FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD MAC TALK.
Lindsey is the thinking woman's Sex symbol. I mean he was and is not only so handsome but also so intelligent and well spoken. To me he is the focal point of FM. Stevie screwed up not staying with him. What a great guy!! Love you Lindsey!!
Maybe she didn't like getting beaten by that "great guy".
Wtf are you talking about? He was awful to her. She was miserable and that’s why they broke up. She didn’t miss out on anything, they weren’t great as a couple and he was very selfish. Once drugs became involved it was not going to end up well.
"I don't see any radical change on the horizon."
- Christine Mc Vie
I wonder how this interview would have been like if the others knew that Lindsey would quit the band just a few weeks before the tour would start.
First there was Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey and Stevie. Then there was FM with them. There there was no FM without Lindsey.
They just weren't FM without Lindsey.
The greatest band in history! Fleetwood Mac.
They could have been a greater band if the issues were not in their way.
And more albums from them over the years.
I think the issues actually made the band.
Lindsey's cough at 3:23-24 😆
Damn, Lindsey Buckingham was HOT! Stunning.
Thank you , this is great.
When they show up at restaurant for lunch stevie knew they need help fast lindsey said is both us or nil the rest is history stevie said I years money flow non-stop.the band was on roll big time.
All that 80s hair.
Mick was probably filming The running man
Gotta admire the interviewers ode to Rod Stewart 😁💖
That’s why you should not date or work with someone just in case you break up lol
Don’t shit where you eat!
Or sleep with another band member.
+ T M They were already a couple when they joined FM. It was the fame that came that led to the break ups.
Sucks that Lindsay left the band shortly after this
Too bad they divorced poor Lindsay. So much for family. Sad.
They were never married.
@@bamboozle5068 Sara Heart is clearly not talking about literal marriage.
Yep. And they had said you “never break the chain.” But they did!
@@bamboozle5068, duh.
So where was Mick
Why did Lindsey say he wished Mick was here, but wasnt? He left the band, or?
I'm still trying to determine the timeline where Stevies teeth changed from natural to no resemblance to the past Stevie. Can the real slim shady please stand up.
Wow. The hair.
Lindsey is straight up, stevie builds a story.....
And looking for love and never find it she said and Lindsey coughs and it got her she looks at him real quick??
So caught up in herself always has
I grew up since i was a4 yr old little boy my mom loved em
She was only 39 here 💜😳
It seemed like a somber reason mick wasn’t there. Anyone know why?
He was filming for The Running Man.
LB is my favorite.
Those are two great looking people. Wonder what their kids would have looked like??
Or how talented they would have been
Stevie didn't want kids! The evidence was there.
Buckingham Nicks belong togeths. Like avo and toast, Anthony and Cleo, baby....💞💕❣
I'm channeling Stevie when I sing
Really Stevie that's why I'm blessed for saving my grandmother from death 3 times are you nope
Leeza Gibbons was gorgeous.
Thank you. I was trying to remember her name.
Is it just me but Stevie sounds like she smokes 3 packets a day
Stevie, the reason you joined Fleetwood Mac is because Lindsey said both of you or neither.
He was the only one who was actually offered a chance to join.
Am I the only one that thinks the interviewer of Christine and John was smoking hot??
Smoking hot? Nah. Smoking pot? Definitely!
glamdolly20 hahahaha damn maybe I was too 🤪
@@xaviergms2225 LMAO! Have a great day! X
She was a MTV host in the 80s.
nina blackwood was her name. i think john and chris were hotter , the late 80s they both looked amazing.
Leeza Gibbons was a SMOKE SHOW
I think there was some jealousy towards the relationship between Stevie and Lindsey
I have too much material...every 2 years isn't enough..she was never there for Tango
It wasn’t lack of material, her klonopin addiction made it much more difficult to sing than the coke.
@@jordanlake471 It's true that she had that problem at the time. But it's also true that she didn't have much material. She had only written two songs for the Tango in the Night album. ('Seven Wonders' was not written by her.)
P.S. It wasn't just klonopin. She also drank Brandy before her vocal sessions. Those two things combined meant that she was intoxicated during the recording of her songs.
@@darkness_of_the_night Lindsey actually re-recorded her vocals himself with a vocoder and tape manipulation in more than one instance...
She's BEEN SCREWED BY a MILLION men now she is going to die without no-one by her SELF very SAD
It’s sad to see her so high
Linda Rondstant Stevie Nicks sexiest ladys in ROCK + ROLL
God damn, stevie looks smokin hot!
I don't like Oprah, but these videos you are watching are suspect. Put together with questionable editing. I would drop them and move onto more reliable material. Just sayin.
Gracias por este video. adoro su musica de FM
When she said “Fleetwood Mac id the premiere American Rock Band”, the next person speaks in a British accent, and you realIze the band is more British than American.
My queen take me with you the most beautiful woman on this Earth take me with you I sang all your songs all my life you are my life the most beautiful good witch take me with you my queen
I feel bad for her and her dr is an asshole for doing that to her. She was beautiful all she needs to do is let down her beautiful hair, wear an elegant gown and she's good to go. I bet she looks great even without makeup. She's given us many years of great music and masterful performances and we fans will always love her. She has nothing to prove to us. Thank you Madonna we love you!
It’s a Hair-Off!
The 1980s were a decade long hair-off.
Stevie rode alot poles to be not loveless...she should know love by now.
Its so obvious Lindsey was the petty one. Lol.
are u serious, they have been touring the past few years, (minus Christine McVie)
Stevie is struggling here with her addiction here when she is swaying back and forth in this interview. She’s probably trying so hard to stay off the drugs and she’s having withdrawals. I feel for her. I love her. And I’m glad she got through her addiction. It’s just interesting to see.
TRUE EARTH GODDESS
R.I.P. John McVie..😔💯💯🙏
He’s not dead you moron.
Yes
Funny
I am more biased towards Lindsey Buckingham but I don’t take sides. They all acted out coked-out children, with some acting more immaturely than others at multiple points.
lol if they only knew
American??? Wrong
I think Stevie looks like a blonde Hedy Lamarr
