It's a shame he kept the blue stripe in front, but yeah looks great. In my country (Belgium) if you tick the option for the black mirrors you lose the blue accent (which in my opinion looks better). Seems like it might be different in UK.
I think the black and blue accentuates the body style much more

They are selling it again, is included in the 2024, plastic with HD foam underneath.
Should’ve got the mk8 over the a45, maybe when the mk8.5 comes out you can swap the mk7 for it

Yeah, the price of these in my country are insane, 95k NZD (47,500 pounds) for one of these… no thanks can literally get a 2021-2022 rs3 for that price or even a 2022 a45s. Still cool cars but definitely not for the price.
Did they upgrade the stock breaks? It must require more stopping power too?
Stock brakes are quite decent. If you don't use it for track use it's perfectly fine keeping them stock even when Stage 1 tuned. For track use or 500 - 600BHP+ i'd upgrade them though.

No way, the Golf r is nice and even better on stage two but the a45s that'll be something else come stage two.....that and IMO much more interesting interior of the a45s

Totally agree not that many mod content on the a45s especiallythe luke way👍, but mk8 r content will be through the roof but still interesting though
The new RS3 is better (I owned an A45s, now in the new RS3)
Can't stand the new interiors or that stupid light bar in the front. Also in the states they want 50k for one of these not worth anywhere near that at all doesn't even have hood struts. Had an 04 a4 that has a hood strut
Will be better when they put port injectors back on ,will be limited for bigger power with di injectors only !
520 - 530 is the limit of stock injectors. For now the bottleneck is the stock turbo.
@@dacmm yeh you’ll probably need the port injectors when chasing bigger numbers especially bigger turbo,the 4 direct injectors won’t cut it due to short duty cycle and limited in size capacity!

Not much difference to mk7 R imo both nice cars, alot comes down to budget if money no object then amg 45s probably top of hot hatch tree, new civic type r will be in the mix as well but all of them tuneable to the same level ? Just personal taste 😋
Well dont't forget the daddy Rs3 5pot tuning god. trumps any 4pot. Not to mention Sound.
Is a big difference to ha mk7. Remeber this is STOCK turbo! :).. You need a expensive hybrid on the mk7 tp hace this type of power!. We have a Swedish tuner that have manage 480hp with stock turbo!.. Pretty Crazy! :)

Sorry 50k hot hatches was not what the sector was about in the day, Renault 5 RS turbos etc, what young person can afford or buy these cars let alone insure them

That is the updated version, as there are no recalls outstanding on this vehicle............And of the problem with the two in the USA, they never caught fire..........................

Luke and everyone here, do any of you gents across the pond miss the opportunity to buy the Mk8 Golf R with a proper manual transmission?
I'm asking because I recently test drove mark 7.5 Golf R's back to back the same day, in both manual and DSG transmissions.
I went in really wanting to like the DSG, but came away not feeling it at all, and liking the more driver focused, more involving and engaging manual transmission.
I know to each his own, but it must really suck not been able to at least have the option of a manual GolfR everywhere, except North America.
Shame.

The manual car has a less powerful engine, and you are welcome to it, and all the clutch problems which it will have............
VW manuals just aren’t that great, especially compared to the dsg. I’ve driven both mk 7.5 manual and auto and the auto is by far and away the better choice. Not that I don’t like driving a manual but knowing how good the auto is makes me confident that nobody is missing out. Also, the auto will be covered by warranty while the manual will not.
the DQ381 TCM is mapped for efficiency in OEM configuration. it really needs a TCM software upgrade to match ECU upgrade. then it becomes a entirely different beast.
Dull! Makes for a good daily driver, but other than that it's not at all special. Another generic German auto

Yea But a stage 2 500hp a45s is also heavy af so in terms of draggy numbers it'll be suprisingly similar. Golfs when tuned are crazy beasts for the $

The interior is so underwhealming.
Very nice, but the problem is, it's still a Golf and you've bolloxed your warranty on a new car. I in fact had the new R for a few days and wasn't that impressed with some aspects of it. Visually it's very boring. Just get the new RS3 and be done with it, as I did.
Nice illegal plate on the blue one shown in this video. Baffles me how people get away with it. Where I live, Plod would pull you over very quickly for that. £1,000 fine BTW. Looks stupid as well.
