Errors regarding the assistants seem to be a manufacturing defect in the steering wheel of VW cars. For this reason, a friend's Golf had its steering wheel replaced under warranty. Another friend who works at a dealership says they are doing mass replacements of steering wheels because of this issue.
Yep, same, my friend had a '22 mk8 GTI with tje same issue and got a new steering wheel installed. The fun part is that he still got errors but much less frequently. He traded it in for '24 mk8 GTI and had it for about a month now and no errors - I guess VW finally figured it out.
8 R owner here. You are talking about a different issue which shows "travel assist error" which has to do with the lane assistance and adaptive cruise control module. It starts complaining because the sensors in the steering wheel are reporting invalid data (solved by replacing steering wheel like you alluded to).That has nothing to do with what you saw in the video though. What you saw in the video happens to every Golf 8(.5) on track simply because the car shuts down all the assistance systems (emergency braking, parking assist, side mirror assist, ect). By law the car has to be designed to report when these systems are shut down or not working, which is why you see all the yellow lights come up. After a while all these systems come back online if you resume "normal" driving lol.

This video reminded me how good the Mk8 is, it also reminded me why we sold ours: super sensitive front-assist that I had to disable every single time, and capacitive touch controls.
Capacitive touch are terrible. Have a 24 golf r. My sun roof controller is going to need to be replaced because the capacitive touch or wave motion sensor is tripping out or just not working entirely. The car is has great performance and handles beautifully but there are many shortcomings. Mostly to do with the capacitive touch. Still glad I got the last year they made it in manual.

Maybe he is still runing original oil weight? Can't talk for the Golf but on B58 if you go for 5w40 the oil temperature on track rarely passes 120 C. Mine stays at 116. A friend's on 0w20 Hit 130+

Hey Misha I'm travelling to the Ring for my 4th time in September and I'm interested to know if you feel the new traffic system on getting on and off the track is effective especially if you are there for the weekend. It looks like every time you want to go on track from the car park you have to go out to go in if that makes sense. Thanks
I have thought that it would be interesting to tie the heated steering wheel to the coolant temperature, so if the car gets hot your hands get hot... not that we're not all watching the gauges, of course. Yes, very random comment.

How do you get 450 hp and 600nm from a 2 litre ICE ??? I have a 1800 fiat 124 and I'm lucky to get 180hp .. OK, it's carbied ,and just an 8valve head , but no expense was spared . FFS , I may have to buy a later model car !!! lol
I’m an mk8 owner and yes in the beginning this happens a lot!! And after some time you get used on it and it won’t happen anymore :) you get used to using it
@@rich2579 same with mk7 trims that have the adjustable dampening, the lowering springs are quite nice for a street car. I'd say something stiffer would still be needed for heavy track, because on sport they can still be a quite soft with hard driving

I took the rear seats out of my old Integra just so I wasn’t used as a taxi by my family! No more airport runs at 3am! The cheek people have when going on holiday just to save a £30 taxi😂 If you don’t have kids it makes a lot of sense :) On a weight saving side yes they’re very light. I stripped or bought added lightness for my 350z and I saved 200kg(1270kg with fuel) interior weight is so minimal! The big weights are front seats, battery, exhaust, lighter wheels, stereo speakers etc
Very quick but it has a bland sounding engine, no character. Sold my 7 Golf R for the very same reason. Appreciate there is a big fan base for these though, I felt underwhelmed by mine unfortunately.

capacitive touch controls are a non issue. And front assist errors can be coded out with OBDevelen which I did for mine. Sucks for you lol.

excellent golf. and also, never buy lowering spring, those things are junk, buy coilovers or leave it stock.
People do springs on the 8r to keep the ability for damper/comfort adjustment via its car modes
