John, these cookies have become my dad’s favorite! He is 90 years old and for Father’s Day I made a Cookie jar for him. I am filling the jar with these cookies. Each month for a year he will give the jar back to me and I will bake more cookies for him. He will choose the cookie and I have a feeling it will be these!😎. I wanted you to know this because your recipes do more than give us the opportunity to create yummy food! These cookies feed the soul for me and my 90 year old dad!❤. Thank you for giving me something that I can share with my dad in his final years! Happy Father’s Day to the both of you too!
I love how John doesn’t pretend that baking and cooking is always a clean and perfect process. I’m also not great at cleaning as I go. The kitchen always looks like a storm blew in when I’m finished
Finally I see someone else take out the excess moisture in pumpkin puree, makes a huge difference in cookies! Pumpkin oatmeal cookies are also amazing when you do this.
there is this Persian cupcake which is my favorite as I grew up with that..it has cardamom and rose water...AMAZING...since you were asking about a cake with cardamom. You may want to try that
Hi John. One cake I know has cardamom as a very defining flavour is the Indonesian kueh lapis (also called spekuk), a very rich cake made of layers of light vanilla and dark spiced batter, but it will take hours to make as every layer is baked in turn. Just like your (amazing) cookies, the spices are to taste, but traditionally it has cardamom in it. I don't have a specific recipe for it, unfortunately, there are many versions of it. I'd love to see you cover it in a video.
John, I made these cookies last night with my niece and nephew....they are so YUMMY and easy to make!! The hardest part was waiting 30 minutes for each batch to chill in the fridge, but it was totally worth it. We will be making them again for sure. THANK YOU so much for sharing your amazing recipes!!
Persian love cake is one of my favorite cakes to make with cardamom! A beautiful blend of almond, cardamom, rose and a touch of lemon. It's topped with a light rose icing covered in chopped pistachios. Heaven!
My mum used to make a cardamom cake. It was just like a Pound Cake, with ground cardamom (not pods) added for flavour. It's nice with a thin glaze of preserved ginger syrup icing.
best pumpkin cookies I've ever made, really important to remove the liquid from the pumpkin to avoid a cake-y texture. also made the mistake of not using fresh baking soda/powder so the cookies didn't rise but still decent. great recipe!
I just tried this recipe after taking a stab at making my own pumpkin puree and omg are these just so amazing. This is exactly what I want when I think about any kind of chacolate chip cookie, it's soft chewy and perfectly sweet. Thank you for this recipe it will become a staple for me!
I just made a batch this morning and omg these are soooo good! Bringing them to my Friendsgiving tomorrow! May have to make more! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!!
I just made these and they are absolutely scrumptious. I made them vegan by switching the butter for a plant based alternative and also baked a red kuri squash in the oven instead of using the canned variety. Super soft, cakey and slightly fudgy. 10/10 would recommend.
I just made these tonight and they're delicious. I did a double take at first when I noticed no eggs and even read recipe three times. It comes out nice and soft. Def a keeper in my opinion. Thank you for this easy recipe.
Hi John, made these 2 days ago for the 1st time!!! I got many rave reviews at work and requests for more!!! They are the perfect amount of pumpkin and chocolate!!! You are awesome! Gracias!
I hate pumpkin, but my husband mentioned one day after I made cinnamon rolls that he had hoped I made pumpkin cookies, the very next day you posted the video on how to make them and then the day after that you posted this video, so I Thank You for this because I was looking for a good recipe to follow ❤️💙 Edit: A month later I've made them, he didn't like them shockingly, but I decided to try one and I actually really enjoyed it. I think it's definitely a one cookie only, as too many would be too much, but I didn't hate it and I'm proud of that fact. One day later: Okay, so I caught my husband eating the cookies and called him out on it, he admitted they're not as bad as he claimed. I also just ate four with some milk and am forcing myself to stop. They grew on me pretty quickly.
Oh, wow! Now I understand you a bit better! Your mathematical way that you use your precision and magic when you glide things toward / away from you is genius! You make it all appear effortless! ♥️😎
I overcooked these a bit but they still are chewy with a bit of a crunch!! They came out really good (: i made as a gift for people who are cat-sitting for me.
These were absolutely delightful and the spices were not overpowering. I used the paper towel to get the liquid out as your recipe suggested. Otherwise the pumpkin went right through the sieve. So thankful for this recipe that will become a fall favorite from now on.🍁🍂🍪💖 I think I’ll have another please. 😋
John, first of all, let me start by saying I genuinely love watching your videos! You are so real in your videos, and I love your educational nuggets of info. I think understanding the science of cooking/baking is essential to being able to branch out to create our own special recipes. I tried your recipe today and I went ahead and added the egg (I know, I know - I just couldn't resist a cakey-er cookie!), and they were phenomenal. I also only did brown sugar, and accidentally did less butter (~117g, but then added like 1/2 tsp of avocado oil). My boyfriend enjoyed them as well! I am adding your recipe as a yearly favorite now. Thank you for helping us create special experiences at home with your guidance! Go Bruins! (;
Hell yeah! I never thought this cookie would be even remotely good, but when I made it a few years ago, I was amazed. One of the best cookie recipes I ever had!
This recipe looks so yummy. I can’t wait to try it. I make an Orange Cardamom Olive Oil cake that is delicious. Your profile is a whole mandarin orange, skin and all, in the food processor. The little bits of skin give it a wonderful flavor. It is made with almond flour and coconut flour. If you want the recipe I’ll be happy to send it to you.❤️
Just baked these for a Halloween party tonight. Came out of the oven looking so gorgeous and tasted even better. Thank you for the recipe and the careful instructions- this is perfect.
I made these today and they turned out excellent!! Thank you for the great recipe. I would cut down a bit on the chocolate chips so I could taste the pumpkin and spices more , next time!!
YES! Finally, an incredibly delicious chocolate chip cookie. I made these tonight. Your words in my head... use the scale for measuring flour. My oven may be a bit less efficient, I cooked them for 15 minutes. The spice combo is perfect. They are delicious. A new family favorite.
I love how this video is just super casual and natural..like seeing you read your ingredients was just felt so different. Idunno if this was on accident but I enjoyed it! I also hear cardamom buns are good, but havent found a recipe for em.
You are one of the neatest bakers I've ever seen, so you obviously learned from your mom how to keep things clean as you go. I do it too, and it slows me down.
I'm baking these today or tomorrow, I have some great roasted pumpkin leftover and my son is allergic to eggs!! 😛Perfect recipe for us to try!😍 Here in Germany we don't get canned pumpkin so I always cook my own. This time I got a new kind from farmers market and it's a very dry sort, no straining needed! 👍
Slim chance u will like or even reply. I love baking i dont have an oven but watching your videos calms my anxiety and adds to the list of things i will bake once i get an oven. Thankyou for being you and keep on baking 💜 so many delicious things my bf is excited to try as he has never had any of my baked goods yet💜
These look delicious. I made your fudgy brownies a couple days ago and they were a hit. Also I love that you smell all the spices and the vanilla. I do the same thing.
Wow ,I want one now! Chewy delicious cookies ! Great Cookie recipe and tips to drain pumpkin with strainer one cup and the remeasure to keep it one cup . Use extra three chocolate chips for topping of rolled ball cookie dough on rimmed heavy duty cookies pan . Professional type better than cheaper type very good to know that tip. As it distributes heat of oven more evenly to avoid burnt bottom of cookies . Also use two different mixing bowls preferred with pour edge helpful. One for flour dry mix and other for liquid s vanilla and eggs and pumpkin and spices and butter brown sugar mixture then add to dry flour mixture of ingredients . But don't over mix to AVOID tough cookie's !!! Allow for adding chocolate chips folding into almost mixed cookie mix gently . And then roll cookies into small teaspoon size balls onto baking cookie sheet and behold whala a beautiful cookie with chocolate chips topping on each cookie bake for !! ?? Time Oh yes 11 minutes @ 350 temperature no more no less and remove from oven and allow to cool down and . Cookie is ready to eat. Happy holidays! 🙏😊🥤🇺🇲🏜️Thank you for your recipe. Awesome.

OK, just made these, well two batches of these. I subbed the chocolate chips for white chocolate chips in one of the batches and they are amazing just thought I would mention it here for anyone on the fence, these are the best either way.
They look so good I can't wait to make them. In the recipe it calls for baking powder dark. Could you please let me know what that is, I have never heard of that before.
John, these cookies have become my dad’s favorite! He is 90 years old and for Father’s Day I made a Cookie jar for him. I am filling the jar with these cookies. I love apples and cardamon together. You’ve got me thinking about making an applesauce cake with cardamon and cloves.
This ☝️I would make.
😃
Yes, please!
Oooh! This sounds like an amazing cookie! I’m totally craving those flavors.

I always loved following your recipe, its amazing and so good. Thanks for always sharing your recipe..thumbs up!!
Thanks for this video! I really enjoy your personality and light humor ☺️
I’m going to try this recipe and I have a couple of questions.
Don’t judge me for this, but I’ll be using canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice because I’m old and tired, lol.
Here are my questions:
1) Do I need to strain canned pumpkin?
2) How much pumpkin pie spice should I use?
When I was younger and had more energy I used to make pumpkin pies from scratch starting with a pumpkin, and used the shortbread cookie recipe from my grandmother’s old cookbook for the crust.
I always used sweetened condensed milk and twice the amount of pumpkin pie spice the recipe called for, as I love extra spice and had a veracious sweet tooth.
My pumpkin pies were a Thanksgiving favorite and very rich; some of my friends and relatives lovingly called them “Diabetes-inducing nirvana” 😂
But alas, I don’t live near family anymore and so I just enjoy cooking and baking for myself and a few friends and neighbors on occasion; having fully embraced society’s new cultural norm where it’s now completely acceptable to “self-isolate”.
You don’t have to tell this Aspie (ASD Level 1) introvert twice!
…..“Wait; you WANT me to stay at home, and you’re no longer going to badger me to stop being antisocial???” SWEET! 😂😂😂
Anyway, sorry for the “squirrel moment” detour, lol. Anyone who can answer my questions about the ingredients for this pumpkin cookie recipe, please let me know, thanks ☺️
The cookies look ridiculously delicious! We will give them a try for sure
