Just popped mine in the oven can’t wait to see how it turns out! Over the years, you’ve molded me into the designated baker of our family. My mom and I would bond over your recipes. I’d bake something new every week from your page and she’d casually ask…”is this another hit from John…?” as though you were part of the family. Unfortunately she passed suddenly a few months ago and I can’t watch one of your videos without thinking of her. Thank you for bringing us joy with every delicious bite . They are memories I will treasure forever💔

John, I have declared my whole life that I am not a baker. Nothing I ever made ever came out right…. Until now!! It actually brought a tear to my eye how beautifully this cake turned out. You know why? Because you told us not to beat the two mixtures, dry and wet, together too much because why? Because it starts the gluten in the flour!! Mind blown 🤯!!

I baked this cake over the weekend! I think my hubby has eaten half of it. He did not want to wait for the frosting, because it smelled so good baking in the oven. I made him wait until it cooled, but he quickly ate 1, then 2 and finally 3 pieces. I cannot wait to make more of your bakes! Thank you!
I made it for Thanksgiving , that was a huge success. And 3 days after Thanksgiving I still got neighbors knocking at my door , asking me if got leftovers,some of my guests couldn’t believe it was homemade. Thanks a lot for sharing this awesome recipe @PreppyKitchen

I just made this cake! It turned out amazing!!! I did half of the recipe and added a little bit less sugar (only 1/2 cup, for half of the recipe) and omg!!!!! The cake melts in your mouth! First time making frosting ever and it turned out sooo well too! Thank you for this recipe!

Just made it! It’s the best ever pumpkin cake I ever ate. Usually I’m not into whatever pumpkin but this recipe is certainly a keeper. The texture is fluffy and delicate like a cloud. And I used Libby’s brand as John suggested and weighed flour instead of using measuring cup. So delicious!
OMG! Thank you so much! Everyone loved this cake. This was by far the moistest and tastiest homemade cake ever. I have Costco's pumpkin spice and used this instead and used some ground cardamom as you had suggested. For the frosting, I did the brown butter, cream cheese, and only 2 c. Powdered sugar, it was perfect! Made it last night, brought 2/3 to work, coworkers really liked it. Thank you so much for the recipe! 🥰
I made your pumpkin chocolate chip cookies twice last year, and used brown butter, and they tasted like HEAVEN. They were so perfect. I will be making your pumpkin pie this Saturday, and I am SO excited. I've never had or made it, so this will be a treat for me and my family. I will make this cake next weekend.
I had to come back and leave a comment! Made this last night and it’s absolutely delicious!!! Very moist and perfect in spices! Frosting wasn’t overly sweet and was fantastic with the pumpkin cake. The whole thing got eaten in less than a day! Everyone loved it!!

I love pumpkin recipes! They taste good and make the kitchen smell so inviting. Going to give this cake a try. My usual pumpkin cake is a mix of pie and cake. You just mix up the recipe for pumpkin pie, pour it into a 9X13 pan, then sprinkle a cake mix--either yellow, white, or spice--over the mixture, then pour a stick of melted butter over it, and bake till the custard is done, about 40 minutes.
I had to just turn around and make one for myself. Can't wait to try it

Hey, John. I made this recipe in a Bundt pan as a pound cake. For the frosting, same recipe you posted + 3 tbsp of the mashed pumpkin. It came out with an orange hue to it and everyone loved both the cake and the frosting. Thanks for all the great recipes!

It came out absolutely amazing. I added sugar to the frosting to my taste and made it less sweet. I used just nutmeg and cinnamon as spices. The cake had the perfect amount of sweetness, so fluffy and moist as well.

I made this cake with half of the measurements and gluten free flour and it still turned out perfect!! So fluffy, moist and the spices give it an extraordinary smell and taste (I additionally added clove powder) 😁😁
May I please ask what you mean by half of the measure? I want to do this GF, too.
