My late father would make pumpkin roll cakes every year for Thanksgiving (his contribution to the family feast). Watching you make this transported me to my childhood watching Dad make his cake and explain each step. Thanks for reviving the memories and providing a good recipe.

You 're right! I discovered Preppy Kitchen by accident, stayed to try cheesecake recipe (I have tried 4 of about 6 cheesecake recipes so far ;)) ) and got beyond extremely keen on baking, I love those recipes as well and the way John explains everything and shows the process without cuts ;)

I made this this afternoon for my husband who loves pumpkin, but not cream cheese. You are right that the cake is nearly foolproof and it didn't even crack as some of the roll cakes I've made often do. Mine came out beautifully. I filled it with stabilized whipped cream instead of the cream cheese and it was a hit. Thanks for sharing!

I was think the same thing!! I keep homemade lemon curd in my fridge just to sneak a spoonful. A roll with it sounds delish. I can't wait.!
In bowl
3/4 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp of cinamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp all spice
About 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
Whisk
In mixer
3 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
Best until lighter in color and smooth
Add pumpkin purée
Mix until just combined
Fold in dry ingredients
Whisk at the end for a little
Pour batter in the baking sheet and spread out
Bake at 375 ºf 13-15 minutes
When it’s puffed up slightly golden
Cream cheese filling
In mixer
8oz cream cheese
6 tsp of unsalted butter
Cream together, get it smooth
Add
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
Whip a lot of air in

I made this for thanksgiving yesterday and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Everyone gave me compliments on how it tasted and they thought it tasted just like something you would get at a store.
Made this tonight at midnight while my family slept upstairs - surprise for tomorrow!!! also, when i flipped the cake over onto the towel, powdered sugar went everywhere! it was so funny, i looked at myself and burst into laughter. I make these every Thanksgiving, it’s a family favorite for both sides of my family. I sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans over the cake batter before baking. The uts on top just send this roll from good to absolutely delicious.

This is amazingly delicious and so easy. I followed the directions exactly (well, except for adjusting the spices a tiny bit to my liking) and it came out perfectly I love a dessert you can make a day ahead! Thank you!!!
