Thanks for the drawstring tip. Been doing it for years. Small air tools do stop quickly as they have lower inertia and for close quarter grinding may be useful.
I have 500ft of lead on my truck cause i weld on communication towers 😂... it can be pretty miserable up there in winter time especially in North Dakota and what not I'm Nationwide and it has really motivated me to start learning API 1104, your videos are very informative and are helping me mentally prepare for that transition. Even though I'm a good welder I think I need to be a welders hand on the pipeline for a little bit to make that transition smoothly. Thanks for the videos.
Have you ever done a video about what the company required you to have on your rig . Like any special safety equipment ( first aid kits ,fire extinguisher , special insurance you have to have) . To be on the job site .
Jah cob Schofield I have some important questions to ask you, I got a job to build a ramp, I’m using 6x6 hallow section 4x4, 2x4, 1 1/2 galvanize pipe, 8” purlin and 4x8 corrugated sheeted metal an I will love for you to tell me how to charge to on each pleas! Your feedback would be appreciated thank you
Ivor Davies well if you increase the wire size of the leads voltage and amperage drop is minimal How much wire size you need is depending on how long your leads are and The maximum amount amperage your machine can put out. I say this because if you do that you have the flexibility to go to full power if needed
I love them just because you can zero them to what ever you want, basically eliminates any of the math. I get paid by the job not the hr so the quicker I’m on to the next job the more I get paid.
I’m sorry but finding the angle of the I beam was a giant waste of time. Get a large flange speed square and put a level on the bottom of it and get the angle and start from short side and flow your angle. Could have saved you 5 mins
While your laughing at us we are laughing right back at you. They paid us damn good to weld that together with stick rod they actually required it. The test was all LH... sorry I forgot you probably have no idea what that means. 7018 low hydrogen rod. Any way have a great Christmas.
Buying an SA 200 Saturday, my first machine! Thankful for your videos
That Chevy double cab at the end of the video is a nice looking rig!!

Dang this guy is nuts😭😭he can get some work done extremely efficient hopefully he is paid well for his work

Why would leave towers ? That's the same field I'm trying to get in . I did l&a work now I want to weld on them. Subs make way more then pipeliners
@@AM-rz8uo How do you break out into that field? Never even heard of it until now.
I have 120' leads on my rig and I rented another 200' for a job and was able to charge them to the company with a mark up
Alex maurer oh see that’s a great idea!!!! I can see that being good
TOP NOTCH BUD THANKS FOR THE VIDS
I have never been more grateful for the metric system since watching this video 🤣
Hahahaha 😂
Metric system if for chumps who can't devide by 2
Good informative video, keep em' comin
Thank you Gilbert will do.
Nice👌
Its all good under the hood time to weld keep on welding brother be safe
True that Sergio the draws are pretty slick man not really my style but your an incredible artist
Just cut the draw strings off a new Schofield hoody yesterday!
good video
Do you strictly do "pipeline" welding while traveling or do you do other types of Pipe welding? I.e.plant shutdowns, plants, refinery etc...
I been helping for 2 months and today bough me first machine. 69 sa 200 redface. Welds like a dream
BAM!!!! Great choice man that was the machine I started with
Heck yea cut or tuck the draw strings in especially if you are using rotating tools
cut the corners of the flange on ur speed sq. at 45 to get the cut line inside the web of the "iron" or beam
this
1) Use Pythagorean to find length of hypotenuse
2) Then use inverse sine or cosine or tan to find its angle
3) DONE.
4) 👍 👍 👍 👍
Thank you.
Tucking the drawstring into the hoodie is a no go?

Welder Castleberry 1 no but I should that’s a great thought
Find the rise over 12 inches find the long point of the support and use your speed square
Thanks Jacob
Jake when you are going to make a cut with the torch and you mark it with the soapstone do you cut outside of the line or inside of the line?
It depends which side you measured. Using any cutting tool will give you kerf.
Always cut on the outside or side away from your finished dimension. That gives you some stock to grind/clean up your cut, for a better fit.
Listen to both of those guys always cut on the side that will be be scrap.
Jake check out flange wizard mark tool. I bought one at fab tech cheap like 100 bucks. They make quick work of marking beams.. Its handy
James I will thanks for the advice
Jacob Schofield you're welcome. I wouldn't say "advice" lol. Ya'll are good hands. More of a suggestion lol. Have a good day be blessed
I always tuck my draw strings inside of my hoodie
Tim Westendorf good thought wouldn’t want them getting hung up.
Man if I could find a company that did them for a normal price
I hate draw strings i just yank those bitches out
I always cut my drawstrings off. i don't need my hood tight i just like to keep the wind off my ears.
Exactly and keep the sparks off your neck
Nice 👍
Thanks ace
Is it cutting oxy acetylene or mapp?
oxy/acetylene

Send me an email with a blue print and the prices of your material
BM hand is the only way to go. the darker the dirtier the better
how much power do you lose through long leads
Ivor Davies well if you increase the wire size of the leads voltage and amperage drop is minimal How much wire size you need is depending on how long your leads are and The maximum amount amperage your machine can put out. I say this because if you do that you have the flexibility to go to full power if needed
I do t know. If it feels cold turn it up.
Is that your new helper
Yes sir he is. He is from Wisconsin
shit i looked up missouri welding school... 12.5 to 14 k..... ya some ppl cant come up with those amounts...
Are you union or non union?
I am Non Union bit have lots of buddies that are union.
Give me a call brother and give me some idea's bon what design you want and i will get it done
Yes I’m sure these guys will call a random guy in the comment section 😂😂😂
Buy a digital level ASAP!
I have a couple. not my favorite but they work good in some cases.
I love them just because you can zero them to what ever you want, basically eliminates any of the math. I get paid by the job not the hr so the quicker I’m on to the next job the more I get paid.
Is the owner of that Chevrolet Rudy ?
No his names josh.
Who taught that kid to use a cutting torch not so much cutting as melting

i would put 3000 feet
It's a portable rig, not stationary ! move truck or move the work!!!!!
Exactly Rick you get it!!
There was zero welding .....
HAHAHAHA....Freaking comical. Leave it up to rod burning pipe heads to weld structural with stick as that's all they know.
While your laughing at us we are laughing right back at you. They paid us damn good to weld that together with stick rod they actually required it. The test was all LH... sorry I forgot you probably have no idea what that means. 7018 low hydrogen rod. Any way have a great Christmas.
