it is so important in my opinion to be the very best you can be in the welding industry. that being said you need to practice before welding tests. In this episode we are going to mock up some 6g welding tests and run through them just like we would if we where at a testing location. hope you guys enjoy be blessed

Yeah we had a good take off at the beginning got some major air on that one it was crazy.

I only weld with my everlast for a hobby and it doesn't take very long before I forget good habits and lose my timing. You have some really good advice there.
Always burn them rods its always good to practice and know this it is instint when you go do your test you know what to do and you control the nerves and remember brother have fun when tour welding be safe and keep on welding

Good advice on grinding a valley on the upper side of the cap especially when you use 7018. Great video but did not film The left-handed side. Keep up the good work

Hell yeah! I love the ISOC shirt man! I used to race the series up until last march! Also what do you do to your bed to make sure you dont fry electronics on your truck when you weld off it? I'm gonna be building a bed in the next few weeks here and have always wondered about that

I'm planning on purchasing one in the near future and would like to get a better understanding of what it takes to own and maintain.

I was just wondering when you are welding and you're grounded through your truck does that hurt your trucks computer system? Is there something special you are supposed to do other than unhooking the battery? Thanks man really love the videos

sweet video, awesome to see the hole weld and fit up/tack.
Renewing the muscle memory and knocking off the rust . When tacking It also helps to feather out your key holes so they are very small to tie into . other wise tip your rod back coming into a big key hole. I've even reversed direction to fill in a initial tack key hole . Keep up the good work Jake
Good stuff man, another solid tutorial. Do you need any certs from API or AWS to get out into the field? Or is everything you do just an employment test? Thanks.
SCOTT Allen i might be wrong with oil field, but most contractors in power and shut down industries wont look at the certs you have, they will always test you to their standards, and or have you take their cert tests following the hire in test, this in no ways could be how pipe line does it besides the hire in test

Im currently practicing my 6g as well, just having problems with my cap. What is your method to cap? Hot or cold?

Practice makes perfect if not it’s pretty close to perfect

thanks for sharing.. practice makes perfect!!! my dad was a welder, went to Lincoln electric welding school on a scolership (this was in the 40s) I grew up welding & would get so pissed off cause he could listen to the machine & the "bacon frying" sound of the arc & tell me I wasn't doing a good bead!!! LOL looking at it now I can do the same thing.. we went a different way with the plumbing business & do less welding now.. I really miss being able to get out & run a few beads.. a few times a year I will fire the old SAE 300 up & burn a few rods just to see how bad I have got!!! but will pick it back up after a few minutes!!LOL I enjoy you videos keep up the good work!!
Jacob: New welder (home) Is it worth the money to pay for Grade RM versus Grade R (Acetylene only) 1/4" x 50'. Recommended brands for rubber hoses.

How come you guys dont do side jobs. A good welder is always needed for different things. Structural builds and repairs. I am just starting to get into welding as a hobbie and i see so much potential. I am a carpenter by trade and welding has so much potential

Also, what is this "Helper" business? I never had a helper in all my 40 years of welding large diameter steel Pipe. Did everything myself. From Rig set-up to layout, to grinding, cutting, fitting and welding, complete with all the grinding and buffing necessary.
You all might want to lay-out a 60" combined two cut miter all alone. Then cut, grind, fit and weld it all in one shift, alone.
From the way your messages are coming off I’m taking it, that even if they did offer helpers nobody would want to work with you anyway. A welder helper is a way for someone that wants to learn how to weld to basically apprentice under someone to learn a trade to better there lives. But it Sounds like you didn’t do anything to help anyone?? But congrats on the career. I imagine your still working alone. Have a great day.

Does the pipeline hire laborers? My dream job is to be a pipeline welder but getting a job with the pipeline has been very hard
I wanna be a pipe line welder and I couldn't find a job as helper I started working at a pipeline as labor setting go post and building fences but hopefully I can become a helper soon

Scrap yards too. I got a 6.5’ long drop of 8” schedule 40 for less than $40

"Why practice before a welding test?" No need for real welders to practice. Welding each and every day is enough "Practice" for anyone. What the hell is this? Any welder worth his mettel should be able to rip out a test and show up at work on time the same day. Do they really pay you guys?
