This is a superior welding school. My welding school cost an arm and a leg and administration did not ever get us people like these two guys to show us the actual work in the field. Bravo SCWA. Keep rising!
Great video Men! I'm 42 years of age. Had my priorities all screwed up in my late teens and twenties...clean up until I was thirty three. The high school I attended shut the weld shop down two years before I got there. Huge weld shop...30 foot ceiling, a dozen weld booths...just sat there. Kids vandalized everything. Smoked ciggs in the booths. Cut up cords and hoses...I wonder sometimes about how many lives were pissed away due to a decision made by alleged authorities to "save" money...and who is this "dollar" ?? And why are we trying so hard to "save" him??? You guys ...please keep on teaching! We need more like you three. Willing to pass along knowledge. Happy welding!
@@ivanfredoo5863 Buy yourself a cheap welder and some scrap half beams and pipe, Get to it. Then set up the CWI exam. If you don’t feel comfortable, apply at a steel manufacturer, they’ll get you up to par and pay u for it
@@ivanfredoo5863 absolutely not go for it I'm in steamfitters local 475 Newark NJ but in the hvac division for the last 29 years I bought a cheap welder a few years ago an this year I started teaching myself to stick weld at 53 years old and I love it I do love being an hvac technician so I'm not changing careers but I really enjoy welding in my yard. I work for a huge mechanical contractor and we have a full fab shop with everything for welding
Thank you very much indeed. My father career. He is now retired. He was working at Aden refinery (BP) as a pipe fibracation shop fitter. Nice memories. I will show him this video. Best regards from Aden Yemen.
Bc they're shop workers. It's easy to spot the hard workers in the field. They'll have a green or orange shirt that has grinding holes and pipe dope all over it. You'll get guys that wear cologne and dress up real nice but they're almost always in debt and there's always something they "can't" do or it "isn't their job" to do. Find me a welder that can use a broom and I'll be shocked. 11 year fitter btw.
Best explanation & demo of the best & proper way to perform a layout & fit up, for a Pipeline Branch Test! If these youngsters can’t grasp the concept of how to go about implementing & practicing the proper way on taking a Branch Test…..Then they have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS, doing so! I wish I would have had this process laid out & explained to me, this clearly from the jump! Would have saved me a ton of time & heartbreak/heartache in the beginning! Great job guys! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 🏆
Thanks for this, all I have is experience, I learned doing this from my co workers that already passed away, I'm definitely gonna watch all you're videos.
Awesome work gentlemen..I work in Alberta , Canada as a Jman pipefitter and you guys are among the best I,ve seen..Awesome communicators_awesome team.Born leaders...Thanks for your help!!!
Guys You are saving my life! When it comes to math I am a complete Idiot! this Blue Book and your well explained process just give me the edge I was looking for, I am welding 12"SS Chiller pipe all the time, carboard is my best ally but I never have my fittings perfect, today thanks to you! we have one less dumbass struggle to do it right! God bless you All!
Excellent video. Here is a little trick. When you get your hole cut in the runner some people might call this the header portion of the branch, clean it up and get it all shiny. Then for one final step take a cone grinder and radius the inside of the cut (the portion of the edge where your bead needs to tie into on the inside of the pipe). By making a radius on this it will all but guarantee you a full penetration root pass because it won’t allow visible edges to remain. A big bust (fail the weld test) for welders is when the inspector can see edges on the inside. If you radius the edge you leave no square edges to for the inspector to see. This might be hard to understand but just ask and I’ll try to clear it up.
WeldTube . . . I wish I had seen your vid some 40 years ago. I would surely have made some different choices in my life. Now I'm too old for such a move since I am recently retired. However, I sure enjoyed watching your vid and learned a lot. Credit to you and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
That was a super video , you guys were very good at explaining what you were doing, so I give you a 10+on the video and your explanation on what and how to getter Done ,

I like your vid. I call what y'all as the "short method." One job I was on, we needed a lateral branch. 12" on 12" on a 45. I layed it out in the long method at home. Brought the pattern in. Worked perfectly.
Amen bro! Appreciate it! A lot of gas companies are moving towards this method of branch testing. I had to learn the hard way (failing a test). Thanks for the great video guys! Another one for the books.
I did that kind of test many times n I did not have any help ,u take that kind of time n the inspector does not like it its a real tough test, plus then u have to do ur bellhole test test allso in less than 8 hours, u have to be a professional welder to do this in 8 hours by your self.
This is awesome. Can't wait to see more in depth videos. Definitely needed this as we always use templates and they are not always 100 depending on the pipe we have.
Superbadass video boys. Started doing pipe fab in a shop and this shit goes a long ways. Any vids on fitting with tricks and experience from the field benefits all of us. Leads on industrial fabrication vids will be taken this way too anyone.🤙🏼weld every damn day

I learned more in this video than I have in 25 years of backyard welding. Great presentation Grant and Christopher.

Maybe the best branch test tutorial I've seen yet. The one thing that I just didn't know about was the bevels on the branch. Now I understand it.
