If you can’t weld grind! If you can’t grind learn how to trigger weld. Seriously grind those welds before anyone else sees them it’s really bad advertising.
I may be a bit late to the party but I have some constructive words for ya I learned from experience. Plus, there’s a hell of a lot more shit talking than criticism. 1: it does not matter how inventive you get with shit on your rig, everyone looks at your welds first especially GC’s and people who hire out. I run a trailer which is kind of an oddity in a site so I get a lot of stares when I pull up anyway. The first thing that people go to are my welds, then they check everything else out. Which brings me to my next point 2: doing custom weird shit brings a lot of attention. If your shit isn’t damn near perfect welding wise and operationally/functionally nothing else matters. From welds to if shit sits level or not. People don’t care for excuses on why or what happened, they care if it’s working when they see it. 3: if you’re trying to start a business don’t say you’re going to school or mention school at all unless they ask specifically, no one cares. Are you certified, can you pass a UT. That’s the main thing. 4: be careful with extra shit. It may be some slick Rick shit on that pole build sure, and it may have uses but that’s kinda the equivalent to the zippo lighter tricks thing. If I ask you for a light I don’t wanna see all the tricks n shit you can do with your zippo when you pull it out I just want you to light my damn cigarette. If that pole didn’t sag 3 feet fully extended then it would look better for customers and contractors. 5: clean your damn shop, your shop, rig and INSIDE THE TRUCK are your calling cards just as much as your welds. Same thing as checking bathrooms in a restaurant. The cleaner the bathroom you know the cleaner the kitchen. When I roll up to jobs and see beds or truck interiors that have shit falling out, or the bed has tools and shit just thrown everywhere that screams a lot to me and none of it is good. Think that way, when you roll up your rig should be clean, tools where they go, no random shit anywhere on your bed or in the cab etc etc, your shop should have steel neatly stacked, swept floors, tools where they go etc etc. It’s a bad look when shots disorganized and dirty and you could push off business which brings me to my second to last point 6: if you want to run a company you need to be the company and think like the client. Everything you do needs to be done like a client is watching you because they are all the time. You never know who your next client will be. Unless your welding obviously dress the part of specially when you go to client meetings or possible jobs. 7: this is simple. No rep is better than a bad rep. A lot of pipe guys watch and are on RUclips, be careful who you talk to, how you talk to them and what you show them. 90% of the shit people talk here could have been avoided if you conveniently left out the bad welds from the footage. Now the good shit, First, don’t trip about how your welder or shit is on your truck. It’s your truck. My welder is set the same way and guess what, 9 out of 10 times I pull up with my welder facing my work/site. It’s a great set up for doing a bit of everything I think. Ultimately what matters is how it works for you 2: don’t trip on your machine, I’ve ran my 325 GAS trailblazer on drill rigs before. In fact one time I was welding right next to another guy who had the same exact machine. We damn near got laughed off the site when we rolled up but they shut up once they saw our welds and how fast we ran. 5/32 8010 for 30 hours with a break to get more fuel in it. Tons of people run bobcats and trailblazers, it all makes the same money. 3: I like the length only because it keeps the sparks off my fucking truck. Sparks pit glass and fuck up paint. The further away the better 4: it doesn’t matter the age of anything per se or the condition sometimes. I tow a trailer that is made from a utility body from the late 90s/early 2000s, rusted is some spots, paint is chipping and fading in other spots, there are some holes in the back where the previous owner mounted shit then took it off. But you know what? Every tool on it is paid in full, new and clean, the entire trailer is organized and flows well with how I work (I.e. I’m not running around my truck 1000 times getting shit, yes people see that when you work), and it doesn’t look like a hack job. Old, sure, but not hacky. I get at least 2 people complimenting it a week even though the paint is fading, chipping, rust in some spots etc etc. Final thing I gotta say? Don’t over compensate. If you’re good at what you do then do it. You don’t need to prove anything (not that you were perse) by building a bunch of random shit for your truck like a 40ft Hoosier pole. That doesn’t normally wow people. Do basic shit that’s clean and perfect instead of custom trick shit that’s clean but looks half assed. You’ll see rigs like yours with a bunch of bad ass shit and cool doodads that may work, and may look cool but it’s busy. Then you see rigs that are just downright clean. No extra shit, has a basic Hoosier pole with basic hangers for his leads, a basic box with a basic bed. But you look as see his leads are all perfectly coiled, there’s not extra shit going on meaning it isn’t busy. There isn’t flare, basic easy built stuff, but it’s done immaculately. Clients (at least in my area) favor that, as do I. K.I.S.S

Another none welding / wanna- be. U making us look bad...
Sir i have been welding for a while. I do good work for people and am proud of what i put out. Im not doing this just so i can look cool. Im doing it because its what i know how to do. If you dont like it then you have to watch the video.
@@ruddmanwelding5853 I don't understand your logic behind your comment. So, you're saying you can turn on and off good or bad welds? Hand, it doesn't work that way. The people in the comments are not trolling you as you say, they are critizing bullshit craftsmenship. Take pride in your work and don't tell people to "Tell me what you think about it" only to cry and bitch about their opinions.
Ruddman Welding if you’ve been welding awhile and taking so much pride in your work, then why does your welds on this project look like hammered dog shit? Rig welders running trailblazers or rangers aint real welders! Shits used for farm applications!
@@Cosuhm thats 100% not true. We have plenty of trailblazers and theyre good machines, especially the 300 deisel
@@texaspipeliner9432 agreed 👍 he needs to practice get good enough before he calls himself a welder !
Thats to much.
Just park backwards cops will understand
You don’t even need that shit bro wtf 😬
No offense or how ever you look at it, your welds look like shit on your personal rig. Is that how you work? More specifically your 90 elbows. Just my opinion and the way I work. Your rig represents you.
Looks Like Trash!... How Can You Own A Shop Welding That Way?. Hahahhaaha
