Those oxytorches are very useful. I’m in school to be a welder and just started mig welding a week or so ago. I wouldn’t say my welds are good. But they’re not horrible.
Measure twice, cut once ! Oh, and leave a little excess are the two best pieces of advice I was ever told. Not everyone can afford new materials, nor is it always convienient to go get more.
Hey brotha congrats on your channel I been watching since day one and now I became a welder and i have Lear lots of little tricks thanks to your videos.... God bless and be safe.... all the way from Odessa TX
hi brother Jacob your videos help alot of youngsters my hats off to you brother from Evansville Indiana from a structural and Fab guy if ever in Evansville Indiana you've definitely got friends here look us up at A&D Constructors and Welding

Jake you make that look so easy. Sorry I haven't been here I'm a while I've been working my tail off... I've been wondering about you guys I'm back!!! Good vid. Best to the wife y'all stay blessed!
@Jacob Scholfield Awesome bed man...im trying to figure out how these other beds I've seen have rounded fenders...do you know if they use quartered pipe..and if so do you know what size?
Luis I’m glad it helps. I have two more bed builds on here and working on the 4 th right now so hopefully between all of them you can find some good info.
I saw you use the T square. Yes it is very handy. BUT don't forget your pipeline expertise. It's called a Pipe Wrap. It would conform to your bedside.....lay out 2 points of center of Cab to Axle and lay it down and mark all the way........just saying........GREAT JOB though.............Mike
Hey Jacob i see the welding bed build is coming along nicely! I feel like welding now but my welding equipment is not with me at the moment it`s at my home 200km away. Jacques
As an OG in the field it is best to have a second ground on your truck just in case your first one shorts out and the arc goes through the trucks wiring.Just a little insurance goes a long way. OG Steve
Great video. One question, it may be dumb, but when welding on your truck bed do you have to take precautions not to fry the electronics in the truck? Thanks Tim
Jake when you ordered your fenders did you just simply search 36” fender or what did you search to order those. Also what size tubing is that for the frame? Bed is coming along great and looking sweet man! Keep it up, I’m watching you videos from MS. Have lots of questions.
Coming out good. One man's show yea it's hard been there many times. Glad you have a wife that's committed if when not wearing PPE around sharp objects and welding flames. 👍
Jacob Schofield nice id be curious to see what you used for the side skirt bends and what not. I plan on using aluminum for my bed, was thinking maybe 3x3” box tubing for the main frame.
15:13 YOU NEED TO GET A TRUCK WITH A SLIDING BACK WINDOW, IF YOU LOCK THE KEYS IN IT YOU CAN BRAKE THE CHEEP SLIDE TO GET BACK IN, NO CELL SERVICE YOUR FUCKED... the side windows are vary expensive.
maverick weldiing Hahahah I got two more to build then we will start maybe MAYBE!!!!! Low chance but might build a few. Lol!! I need to get a place before I start doing that
You know I got me a pretty good lady but I think if I asked her to hold up some steel so I could tack it she would tell exactly where I could put that steel and then tell me to chase it with the welder lol.
Harland Gambill Hahahah she awesome man my best friend and tough as it gets. Willing to help with everything from chopping wood, training dogs and welding pore girl had to be my helper for 2 months lol.

Digging the fabrication. 👌🤙
Thank you thank you. Really appreciate it
I got a gmc kinda like yours, where did you buy your fenders and side panels?
Where did you get those fender wells at? I’ve looked and the only ones I can find are for an 18 wheeler so they’d be way too big.
As an OG in the field it is best to have a second ground on your truck just in case your first one shorts out and the arc goes through the trucks wiring.Just a little insurance goes a long way.
OG Steve
Portuguese Man o' War thanks steve great thought
Thanks OG Steve. I don’t even weld but I’ll keep it in mind.
Man’s got skills
Shoulda spliced in like a piece of 2" flatbar to your fenders to widen them out and cover your whole tread
I want to fly you over to the UK to help me build a rig
Good job guys
Looking good brother
Dodgezilla101 thank you it’s getting there
Hey man where did you get that side sheet metal that “forms” to ur body lines
Kali custom has some fenders check them out out on facebook
Great video. One question, it may be dumb, but when welding on your truck bed do you have to take precautions not to fry the electronics in the truck?
Thanks
Tim
Timothy Hendershott. As long as he grounds to the bed he's welding not under the hood to the frame there's not a risk of burning any electronics up.
Getting there👍
Jeff Shearer one piece at a time!! Lol
What is the reason for putting the Dually spacers on the front?
Are those panels pre fab or did you build them?
Where did you get the panels for the sides?
We’re did you get your finders at for the back
Jake when you ordered your fenders did you just simply search 36” fender or what did you search to order those. Also what size tubing is that for the frame? Bed is coming along great and looking sweet man! Keep it up, I’m watching you videos from MS. Have lots of questions.
Laffy Taffy laffy most trailer places will carry them or like feed stores will have them
Milwaukee makes a saw like that they're great
Oh yeah brian for sure.
So what is the adaptor called to run dual tires rather than single wheel on a 3500hd
What all material do I need to buy to build a bed ?
Where did you get your side panels vent like that to fit the Concorde of the truck
John Sotello a shop out northern Colorado
The only problem with Berliner is if it gets just a little hot it melts real fast, it’s just a hard rubber.
She knew she signed up for temporary helper when she got into this, right? LOL.
how thick is the metal for the walls and wheel wells?
How thick of metal did you use?
Coming out good. One man's show yea it's hard been there many times. Glad you have a wife that's committed if when not wearing PPE around sharp objects and welding flames. 👍
David Rios Hahahahah she’s awesome lol!! She usually doing homework while I’m working on it so when I’m in a bind guess who gets to help lol
Jacob Schofield that's awesome. Y'all awesome!
What’s up man, do you have prints for this bed? I love the sides and the bends in this, I want to make one for my 06 Silverado but out of aluminum
I dont but i might go pull measurmant off of it and build a set of prints.
Jacob Schofield nice id be curious to see what you used for the side skirt bends and what not. I plan on using aluminum for my bed, was thinking maybe 3x3” box tubing for the main frame.

Im trying brother I think im at like 423 right now lol
Where do you get those pieces for the fenders? I'm trying to build a bed now, just asking for any tips! Thanks bud!
oh man thats just a regular trailer fender.
@@JacobSchofield I thought it might be, but I wanted to ask to be sure. Thank you brother, looks slick!
You gonna have 3 weld trucks?
Did you attend a trade school for welding? If so which one?
Where can I get those fenders ? Thanks
Put your tape 18 1/2" mark on the line, mark 0" and 37" save you some time and calculations.
Where can I find metal sides like that for my build?
Is my same answer I see trucks and looks nice
Find ya a sheet metal shop and give them the measurements you want. They should have the know how and machines big enough to bend it for ya.
What type of truck?
Can I use a f150 as a welding rig
You could. But the more power the truck has the better because all of the equipment needed is heavier. But yes you could use one
you got beanie burn
where did you buy the sides from
MrJj1620 was wondering the same thing
Expecting much squat from the weight of welder and tools ? Looks stuffed already .
What brand is that long sleeve bud
Its a martin bros shirt
My horse has a rock in his shoe, just bare with us
Where did u get the rolled sides?
Jesse Stidam a shop in northern Co
What plate is that with the body lines
1/8” or I think 12 gauge
Are you going to paint it or let it rust?
will perry not sure yet I will either bed line it or maybe maybe paint it.
15:13 YOU NEED TO GET A TRUCK WITH A SLIDING BACK WINDOW, IF YOU LOCK THE KEYS IN IT YOU CAN BRAKE THE CHEEP SLIDE TO GET BACK IN, NO CELL SERVICE YOUR FUCKED... the side windows are vary expensive.
How long are the side fenders
Man I dont Remember sorry I sold this truck awhile back.
I know nothing about this sort of thing but I kept thinking if a guy had some pieces of cardboard you could make a template or something.
About building g the bed? Like draw a template of it?
you sure are a lucky husband lol how many wives out there do you think would hold some sheet metal up while their husband was welding lol
GettingItTogether Hahahah I scored no doubt lol
So silly question
When you starting on mine lol
maverick weldiing Hahahah I got two more to build then we will start maybe MAYBE!!!!! Low chance but might build a few. Lol!! I need to get a place before I start doing that
Lol good answer never say no lol gonna be a nice lookin rig when your done
You know I got me a pretty good lady but I think if I asked her to hold up some steel so I could tack it she would tell exactly where I could put that steel and then tell me to chase it with the welder lol.
Harland Gambill Hahahah she awesome man my best friend and tough as it gets. Willing to help with everything from chopping wood, training dogs and welding pore girl had to be my helper for 2 months lol.
Unsweat tea? But why?
Derek Shrewsbury cause sweet tea makes me fat lol!!!
Jacob Schofield good point. I probably should lay off of it myself.
So he can have regular cake. Balance
Fred hernandez It's all about balance.
unsweet is the best
The tow mirrors that these chevys had were ugly
BA BA needs a little better foot wear. I’ve burned every part of my body except my peter and my foot. The foot would suck.
