I got an outlaw fullleather hood I wear over my hard hat when welding inside crushers and around mining equipment and it has lasted and I have no complaints they are an amazing company!
I use outlaw hoods exclusively as well, best hood I've had. First one was a tiger hood with Texas flag leather, the shell cracked out so I got a sugar scoop with black leather. Works great but it's important to keep the leather conditioned so it doesn't dry out!
another great episode, please show more about your respirator, I often think "what is the worst" the smoke from electrodes or all the dust and rust and breaking down grinding and cut off disks
Very nice, educational video. I’m not a welder, do you have a concern for, I believe it’s called, oil canning, or warping and buckling of the sheet material when all edges are welded? It would be interesting to learn how you avoid buckling and warpage when fabricating anything, flat, round pipe, square tube etc.. Looking forward to seeing the finished truck. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you’re building this truck bed. JD in Missouri
Are you gonna put a Hoosier pole on that bed? If so it would be awesum if you guys can do a video on that part. Reason why I'm asking is i need to to build one for my current bed.
Awesome videos! I’m a iron worker here in Utah with a 2nd gen single rear wheel and this has me debating on building a bed and doing a dually swap. Looking killer so far
I have never used a miller respirator. You might check out rz mask they help when I weld specially dual shield flux core. Think might give you more clearance .
What about your other brothers hood?! He needs a sweet Outlaw hood too! Gotta take care of your helper! Sweet video dude, looks awesome. Can't wait for the rest of the series.
I was wondering if that was a short bed or the long bed. I know you said that you weren't cutting the frame down so I figured that it was the long bed version but I just wanted to clarify. I have a gen 2 that I might want to put a bed on eventually so I was just going to see if I needed to customize the plans that you were making.
@schofeild love the videos! Just wanted to thank you for the videos & the quality content. I was in school for 3 years for dental hygiene (love working with my hands). Let’s just say with a 3.8GPA still didn’t get into a program anywhere in TX. I have always had a passion for welding and I am proud to say I will be starting/finishing my code welding degree mig,tig & Mshaw, in a year (pipe focused). I love the videos & the “true life” day to day life. QUICK question I am wanting to eventually get a Hobart elite 225 to rig out, not for pipeline but for repair jobs & work I can find. Do you or know anyone or your opinion on them? The price is very attractive compared to a new Miller. SAFE TRAVELS! Love the video’s.
What size sheet metal are you using? I'm building a bed right now and I used 10 gauge. But everyone says use 3/16 for the deck? Any info would be great.
If you are framing your deck correctly 10 gauge should be just fine, I used to work at trailer/truck deck manufacturer and we always used 10 gauge sheet metal for our tops. Just be sure to frame it out properly
Ok thank you I appreciate it. I built everything with 10ga so far. I was just waiting on the deck to see what people have used. My frame work doesnt have alot of big open spots. So I think I'll be ok. Thank you for the info Joey.
I wear a stainless steel casio g-shock it can stand anything I've thrown at it so far and I've had it since 2013 it is a bit heavy when you 1st wear it but now I don't pay any attention to it. Maybe this helps
Love the progress of this build buddy 👍! Looking forward to part 3. Gotta question Jake, when welding this bed, do you have to disconnect the battery or take any precautions due to the ground?
I have been dreaming of an awesome flatbed for my new truck for years. I bought a 2014 mega cab Limited duly to haul my Arctic fox 990 camper with slide out. When you load that camper with all your gear that you might need for an expedition in the mountains you soon find that your truck weighs about 15,300 pounds before dogs and family are loaded in the truck. They say these campers weigh 4300 pounds dry but they do not include generator propane refrigerator for beer in that estimate. I am now putting the truck through A new face which is stock bed with Thule rack 12 foot aluminum boat motorcycle on the front and a 6 foot three and short bed loaded with too much stuff. My dream is a custom perhaps eight 910 foot flatbed on this mega cab truck without stretching the frame. This flatbed would be loaded with toolboxes in every space available to haul the unlimited amount of gear which I want to bring on an expeditions. In a pinch I would also reload the arctic fox 980 camper knowing that I would be overloaded on a trip I went on. I use that arctic fox 990 on a 2006 ram duly which of the GVWR of 12,000 pounds compared to the new truck at 14,000 pounds. Ideally if I want to keep this camper it needs to go on a ram 5500 but I do love my mega cab. Thanks for the idea of the toolbox bed I also also I’ve been investigating aluminum beds over the years. What are your commenters feelings on aluminum beds versus a steel bird. Home Depot has some nice aluminum beds on some of the rental fleet in their parking lots that I have examined. One idea that I thought was brilliant is there is a maker of decks which uses a tongue and groove type aluminum decking that people have used to make aluminum beds which comes with drainage channels and A tight locking surface and these extruded aluminum pieces were originally made and designed to be use for outdoor decks on houses. The bed I saw built out of this type of materials and absolutely no wells which I understand is a problem on aluminum one subject to vibration and this particular bed was entirely bolted together with stainless steel fasteners.
With out sounding rude is their a special needs person working on it my bros got special needs and I love seeing them helping and getting involved then sitting around the house not doing anything or not getting given the chance to do Any thing
@@JacobSchofield having your approval on a certain brand helps justify it for all of the rest of us and means a lot 😆😆 keep it up man, I like having your input
Homeboy in the back a true welder waiting on the fitters
Y’all let home boy in the back ground weld?? He’s ready to go! That’s awesome 💪🏽
That lime green pipeliner is slick

You cannot beat Outlaw Leather Gear.
That radius on that front skirt piece makes it look like somebody gives a shit. God work, Hand!
Good job, regards from Venezuela

Makes me wanna build another bed!
5:27 to skip the giant ad for the leather company.
July fourth is my birthday so it’s my favorite holiday too.

Another great video Jake. That thing is looking slick already.
Nice ! I like the hood intro and fabrication work ....Once and done mobile welding 👊😎
Excellent video and beautiful job, what brand of tires are on that rig ? Just what I’m looking for for mine ! Thanks for sharing take care now 👍

What filter you recommend for RZ mask
Y'all going heavy on them commercials

Good job Jake, God bless ya and hope you’re doing well!
I definitely noticed the cough. Please take care of yourself! Thanks for sharing another great video.

Another great video! Video quality on point as well.
What saw and blade are you using?
Niiiiiice video brother! Thanks for pt 2 Schofield Gang!!!!!!
Anytime thanks for watching
that mustache is a solid 9.3/10

Less talk more welding 👍
So skip through the video. It’s pretty simple.
Jacob Schofield 😂😂need more welding more welding no talking 😂😂 Good video keep them coming
whats up buddy where you been the last month??
The video you were you were in wy, were you in Daniel/horse creek/ pinedale wy?

Why did you complete the pipe quarter cut with the torch ? Metal cutting saw you used at 1st not a good idea?
It’s just easier to finish it off with the torch. And the roll out wheel wouldn’t hold the priece of pipe after made the first cut. Just be a pain.
I use to weld
Nice
What type of saw is he using??

Do you wear a watch everyday while welding, if so what kind/brand holds up ? I seem to destroy them. Thanks and keep the awsome content coming !

Rolex, submariner.
Great video idk if I missed it but is this your new welding truck
I’ve got seven hoods now an I got a question should I send on one my hoods to custom it out to outlaw leather
What gauge sheet metal did you use?
So the top deck is 3/16 and the skirts are 10 gauge
I can’t find the welding bed blueprints.
Anyone know where I could get an SA200 restored on the east coast ? Seems that all the shops that come up online are Midwest and Texas.
What kind of knife are you wearing in the video ?
what brand and type of wire are you running gas/ no gas ?
What kind of saw is that
The Sheet, 1/8" or 3/16" ?? For the bed which one. Thank you.
Both
Hey I have a question. How do you get the rust look on a bed?
Don’t paint it. They rust after time
Love the progress of this build buddy 👍! Looking forward to part 3. Gotta question Jake, when welding this bed, do you have to disconnect the battery or take any precautions due to the ground?
The welder and battery circuit are separated so it should be fine, unless you were get an arc of on a positive wire somewhere.
Badass. Hopefully your still "hireable" despite all the envy your presce se will invoke.
Hireable?
Whats the awg size on your leads?
2/0 is what I use
👍
Could you tell me the brand of knife you have on your belt. Been looking to get one that size
Looks like a Whiteknuckler Brand knife
Awesome job, liken the ¼ pipe corners they look smart.
What makita saw is that?
I’m not sure but it’s a good one. I would just look up makita skill saw
I can’t believe u didn’t build boxes under there
Ok? Why he uses reels.
Where did you get that dope ass hat?
You forgot the links in the bio Jacob
Can thank you just took care of it.

You spend more time selling than showing what your doing like back in the beginning of your channel
I was literally showing you a great hood from a great company. I get questions on what hoods I’m wearing so I took the time to show u the hoods
