I know times are rough right now, but if you're looking to replace any of those grinders in the future check out Hilti. They are pricey but in my opinion they are worth every penny. I have no affiliation with them, but they were such a game changer for me that I tell as many people as I can about them. They've saved me so much money over the years. For me and my personal experience, they've lasted 10 times longer than any other brand I've owned. They not only last longer, you can tell when you pull the trigger on one that it has some power.
This is my 3rd bed I’ve built that I didn’t put angle in the rack( mainly cause I forgot to on the first 2) and never had a problem with bottles going anywhere
Yes, you are correct about the bottles of gas. Acetylene has acetone in the bottle. It is a low pressure gas and heat does help build up the pressure. But, do not put a torch to it to help with pressure or you will be in for a rude awakening. Really good video here.
@@JacobSchofield you would be surprised. I worked for 25 years selling welding supplies and gas. In the winter time, Acetylene and propane are a low pressure gas. Meaning when it gets cold the preasure goes down and can't feed enough pressure to the torch, especially when using a high volume of gas is required to cut certain thicknesses. When the price of scrap steel goes up, alot of people become so called cutting experts. A heating blanket is the best way and safest way to build pressure. I've heard of guys setting the gas tanks close to an open flame to build the pressures up. And, do you know what alot of them say? I've done it that way for 20 years. I would tell them it only takes one time to make a mistake. Yes Jacob, there are some stupid people out there. Just sayn.
The problem is dirty/gritty liquid gets in the valve when you open it and then the valve will not close without leaking. That is the real reason you don't lay the acetylene bottle down. Becoming volatile, or unstable is untrue.
I like to see how this done! Have you ever seen Austin Ross’s bed. Not sure how he did that. After seen all the planning you guys are having to do. Cool man thanks for the video
Awesome fellas! Even better than last bed build! Nice hair at the end brother haha (always interesting seeing what welders hair looks like, they always cover it lol)
Hey Jacob I have a question for ya do you have special regulators for the oxy and acetylene bottles to make it so you don’t have to take them off every time you move the truck cause I have regular ones and I have to take them off and cap the bottles every time just so I don’t knock that valve off
@@michaelsimerly3993 why? it's just a question you dick. I was just wondering because I know f you transport acetylene on its side you have to wait a while. I was just curious if you had to wait because all the vibration and shaking while driving even when its upright or if it doesn't matter
No you will be fine. I’ve never had any trouble driving over to a job Getting out and starting a torch. Don’t your worry about Michael. I one time got on a chat form when I was about 16 and asked what a Tig rig was. I later got about 20 messages telling me I should never weld and if I didn’t know what a Tig rig was I needed to never come back to that chat form. Moral of the story... never be like Michael always help people.
Javude it's a valid question, but even if you did have to wait ,figure by the time you stopped the truck and get your gauges hooked up ect. You will be fine. After reading all these comments your always gonna find one idiot like Michael Simerly to fuck up what was a perfect comment section. Like Jacob said, always try and help someone and it doesn't take much effort to be honest and polite. Peace and don't forget : TRUMP 2020. AND LET'S MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
You will probably have to go to a welding supply store. Ask for Sait transition stones. Sait makes huge variety and will have to be ordered. Make sure you see them in the catalog before ordering. Sait is a USA made product also.
I wish he'd walk through how he fabs the wheel well covers. It looks like he may have bought these but in other videos it looks custom made. Is he rolling them on benders or what?
great video. i just started welding a few years ago!all my cousins weld for living here in CA and hopefully i will to soon. watching your videos has helped me learn a lot so thank you i appreciate it.
I think he and I both call them a cone wheel. I buy mine and Airgas. Next time you go in your local welding store to pick up oxygen and acetylene look to see if they have them. They are extremely handy.
I went to a welding school when I was 18. I'm 47 now on hospice care for heart disease. And when i was learning to weld i couldn't see what i was doing everything look like a big glob of bright light. So i asked the instructor what was i doing wrong? He said your doing nothing wrong that's just the way it is. So needless to say I went to college and got hired on for ExxonMobil process operator and never did get an answer on why it hurt my eyes/ couldn't see to weld good enough.

Hey guys! Any opinions of Oxy-Acetylene tanks laying flat? I have a slight 35 degree angle and am getting a lot of “nays” about it….. any experience?

Is there something that keeps the bottles from sliding out when you make a hard right turn?

Where can I find prints I love that box
Great job ! I am looking for the print on how to build one. Thank you.
Nice job team, liken the angle iron bottle bed I was wondering what you were going to do in there. Great crew on the job :) stay safe team.

Just off to the right. It will be behind the machine
The person who makes your caps is there any other way to get ahold of them
Get them from pipeliner cloud they are awesome caps.
We’re do I ge them sunnies as in the one at the very start
Some men go deeper then others.....
Nice job. grinder where do you get that grinder hole reamer stone @ 13:43 ? thx
Even with the bottle standing upright, after driving would you need to let the acetylene bottle rest a while before using it?

It’s pretty self explanatory.
It’s a trailer fender ordered in a35” tire laid out and welded in.
Yeah son!
Can you lay Argon flat?
There a way I could get the measurements to build a bottle rack
Jacob: Am I to understand that you place (2) Oxygen bottles laid down. Where do you put your vertical Acetylene tank?
Behind the machine
@@JacobSchofield The bottles don't get too hot in the summer right behind the machine?
How thick is the sheet metal??
Do you have to carry argon standing up ?
Yes you do I believy
are you using a sheet of 10 gauge ?

Thank you Joe means a bunch. So the top deck is all 3/16 and the sides and boxes are all 10 gauge
Do you have prints for this build on the oxy rack?
Not yet.
Do you still have the prints for the bed?
They are almost done being made. I know I know it’s been a long time coming but trying to find someone who can draw them was way hard.
What was the name of that grinder bit you used to have clean out the mount holes?
I want to know also. I've never seen that.

There just called a cone rock.
Turn your gain down on the camera and the lav mic. That is why your audio is peaking
Where is the blueprint @?
hahahah still being built. waiting on final drafts to be edited.
Where do you get them shades????
Hey Rudy, those are Pit Vipers 👍
Pit vipers
What size are those bottles?
im not sure i think the oxygen is a 300 and the acetylene is like 3 feet tall hows that lol
You can let your bottles flat and I am sure plant you just have to have them strapped off
Oh in the mines you can?

Correct every time you bend something it "grows" one material thickness
Oh see I didn’t know the exact measurements thank you.
If a bottle of acetylene had been laid down you have to set it up and let it sit for two hours before you can use it they preach that in the Navy lol
See there yeah go. I just knew they needed stood up.
