  • In this video, I share with you how we are mounting or securing oxygen and acetylene bottles on to this pipeline style welding bed. First we take measurements then cut out the top deck using an oxygen and acetylene cutting torch. I did not use the circle burner in this video for a reason you will find out in the video but if you do need a circle burner check out our website at the link below. Thank you for watching!!

Just like those 2 bottles of oxygen, that stuff is key for flavor! Totally agree, way better out of a mug. I've gotten good at turning my right arm into an independent suspension for a classic mug while driving. Thanks for these videos and sharing all the knowledge you've gained. I start school in the fall!

Watching this bed build reminds me of when I was a kid in the 70's helping and watching my Pa Pa build truck beds, cattle trlrs, horse trlrs log truck bunks. Headache racks. He would have liked to seen this.
I always tell a funny story on me. First time I seen him take 6011 and cut expanded metal with that. It just amazed me! Because, your supposed to weld with a stinger! Not cut with it!
And also that's where I learned REAL QUICK not to put a welding rod in a stinger with wet cowboy boots on!
And then Ma Ma ringing that cow bell down at the house to come and eat dinner.
    Great times gone by!
Thanks for posting this build and rekindling great memories sir.

You can countersink those rod boxes to give you more flat surface. Hide the tanks under the bed so it’s easier to load. But I don’t know if that would work . That’s some nice quality craftsmanship!

In my experience, coffee tastes better ground fresh from whole bean and brewed in a French press or pour over. Using bottled smart water helps also, even though it’s extremely wasteful. You’ll get all the flavor possible once you get the grind size and brewing process down pact..
As far as welding and fabrication goes, another excellent video as always Austin.

Reverse osmosis filtered water is drastically less expensive and wasteful but it’s still a great coffee brewing material. And absolutely does taste better from a traditional mug. Stainless steel actually carries a ton of flavors that sometimes are very yucky to the quality of the beverage being consumed…. The glass that coats a mug will shed extra flavors much easier 😊

You're right, buddy, about the coffee. I use a Yeti cup to keep my coffee warm and avoid spills on the road, but it tastes better from a mug for sure! Now if only Yeti would make an insulated ceramic mug.

I was thinking about doing a same tank bottle box but make it so it’s a big draw that can pull out on the passenger side and that way you could put your fuel bottle on the driver side so that both gauge sets are on the driver side so you don’t have to walk around to both sides to turn them on and you can still get your oxygen tanks out with out moving your fuel bottle or flip it around to the other side if you prefer your welding leads on the driver side or just double stack your oxygen and then you got even more room to put a pack rat pull out tool box draw if you need more space I mainly do heavy equipment welding and fab work so I need a lot of hand tools to take things off and on so I’m always wanting as much useable space for storage as I can have and I like keeping the back 1/4 of the bed flat for a work bench and I have a 1/2” plate that’s a foot by 3 foot long that slides in and out like a diving board that I use to cut things on like small things or clamp things to and I also got 2x2 square holes in the back of the bed that I can slip my bench grinder into and pin it if I need to use that a lot that day but can put it back in the side box when I’m done to keep it out of the rain but I also ran out let boxes built into the bed that are powered off a cord running to my welder so I don’t have to have 100 ration cords laying out when facing something at the back of the bed

The likely reason you think coffee tastes better from a cup without a lid is because that allows you to get the full aroma while drinking. Scent has a great effect on how you perceive taste.

I asked my step dad why does he keep buying cheap hoods with the big auto darkening lense ? He said so I can see what I'm doing . He has 8 dirty old hoods laying around with the same commen problem. They are dirty and can't see anything through them. He is a sometimes welder. He never cleans or replaces the clear lenses. And rarely has a clear lense on the inside. Last time I welded at his shop I took my hood that iv been using for 25 years now. It's had 2 Lincoln auto darkening lense that lasted 20 years now. They didn't perform as well as the Arc 1 lense iv had for the last 5 years
It has never done anything wrong. By far the best auto darkening lense I've ever used. I have a curved plastic clear lense in the front and a flat glass clear lense on the inside to protect the lense. When get a little bit of anything on those clear lenses I take them out and clean them, or replace them.
It sucks wearing a heavy hood on your head all day. 2x4 lenses are lighter.

do you guys ever look at how much weight you are adding to the truck with all that thick steel plate?

  • @Comm0ut
    @Comm0ut 7 месяцев назад

If you want to be kinder to your back (and not end up like me, disc damage ends careers!) one way would be mod the rack so you can shove the bottles in from the passenger side by placing them against the bed then lifting from the bottom while the truck takes a little then all of the weight as you tip the cylinders in. How you keep them centered is your call but a couple of short pieces of round bar etc would get it done.
Your back is worth more than all your equipment and vehicles. I get to meet other gents from all sorts of careers when I go to monthly pain management and you do NOT want to join us! Any trick you can manage to not lift more weight than you must is worth considering because they don't make repair rods for people!

I agree coffee tastes better from a mug. It's proven that taste is largely smell. Hold your nose when you eat or drink something strong...you probably can't identify the taste. Using a mug allows you to also smell the coffee whereas a slotted cup blankets your smell. Ain't I smart?🙃

  • @jackclark1994

please tell me you're not actually going to lay acetylene bottles on their side to use..... you run the risk of introducing acetone or whatever the stabilizer is, into your torch, removing it from the tank and potentially causing the acetylene to de-stabilize. there's a reason they tell you to wait a while after standing a tank back up... it's also why they transport them standing up...
