- Tired of pulling your bottles out of the back of your truck? Me too!!!
Showing you step by step to lower your bottles on your rig or truck to get them where you need them. Good tips in fab work, and in welding.
Most rig welders will put the acetylene bottle in front of the welding machine radiator. This allows the hot air blowing across the bottle to heat the bottle thus allowing the pressure to build slightly. Getting more acetylene out of the bottle. Been doing it for years.
I had my welder 6” from my tank regulators, same Lincoln dozer fan.. never had any problems. Looks good! Good luck man!
I thought I have seen all of your stuff but a random google about gas cylinder holders brought me here! And Iam supper pumped about that!
I'm glad to see you install the cylinders in the upright position. I've seen many many nice rigs built with the cylinders at horizontal position. This is fine on the oxy side but I'm afraid too many welders particularly the younger batch have absolutely no clue as to how unstable acetylene is if they accidentally released to much of the stabilizing acetone from improper cylinder mounting. Might be worth a video for ya???
I've never seen anyone with the acetylene bottle laying over... always the oxygen... but I'm from texas so that may say a lot too.
I have made similar bottle holders for our work pickups and shop truck with some differences. I do have to say I have never seen a portable band saw like the one you used. I always learn something new from your videos. You do better than me when welding over head since I always seem to catch fire with out my leathers LOL. Another great video, Thank's for sharing.
+hairydogstail Very cool. Sorry it took me so long to reply comments get lost sometimes. Aye it is a Skill 1010 porterband I think it was made back in the late 70's. Thanks glad you liked it.
Excellent video! You are a great craftsman! I liked that brass pin insert technique.
+Mike Snyder Don't know if you watch AVE, but that's where I got that from.
Uncle Sam looks like a capable helper. Nice work.
Excellent video, always learn something from you. Thanks for taking the time to do these.
Very innovative design for use of space and load/unload!
Yet another great video! Love your down-home no-nonsense style. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video and work brother. Are there any DOT rules or laws regarding oxy/ acetylene tank mounting? Or they just need to be secured?
There are some state laws that do not allow the transportation of any compressed gas without the OEM caps (can’t have your gauges on) you’ll have to check your local laws and see.
Thanks man!
A suggestion..... Mount your regulators inside of the nearest tool box. Build a couple of custom hoses, to make it come together. If the scumbags can't see them, they'll be less likely to steal them. Plus, the weather won't beat them up.
+BlueLightRhyno That is a good idea. May have to do that.
Great video! Love your style and presentation. Very cool project and upgrade to the truck.
Nice job, just a thought, make the center bolt bigger and longer. You could drill a hole for a lock in that. Just my opinion. Thanks for the video
I like this video very interesting! More welding videos please
When I set up my welding rig for welding in Wyoming I put the acetylene bottle in front of the radiator for the welding. Needed to. Got cold enough the acetylene wasn't happy when it dropped much below zero. Switched to propane. 10lb bottle costs almost nothing and lasts forever(seems like anyway). Won't go back to acetylene.
Good job. Thanks for making another video
Nice rig👍👍
nice setup
Good work keep the videos coming.
Ok so this mod was done a while ago, did you have any trouble with your regulators getting to hot? Thanks
What song were you playing in your oxy fuel welding rig set up build
Another entertaining video keep up the good work man!
Great video.
That's a really clever idea. Great use of available space. Thanks.
Awesome! It look really nice!
enjoyed the video. dang you're an awful fast worker. lol. Thanks for sharing your ideas and knowledge.
Great video.... Is the front bottle leaning towards the truck on purpose or an optical illusion?
+ja cu It is leaning. I over tighten it, and made it draw the wrong way. I later fixed that.
Great work man
I like the brass pin
Out of curiosity what is the Black leather pouch on the right side of your belt?+classic work
+Rayner C Leatherman rebar. Don't know what I would do without it.
Good job.
usefull family.goedendag
looks good!
How much cutting do you get out of an oxygen bottle that size? I'm putting a rig together and I'm a little bit tight on space.
Zach Urhahn it does pretty well. You'll get about 2-3 hours of heavy cutting. About a month under normal use.
you can just flip the fan blades around i do this in winter
Did I miss your explanation of why the Oxy bottle is leaning towards the cab of the truck.?
Yes, you did.
Nice,,, ARC is going to ruin your camera CCD,, put a cheap self-darkening helmet to film your welding scenes... Not sure you knew that but just trying to help..
GOD Bless
+Jose Garcia Thanks, but I have filmed arc shots for years never hurt any on my equipment. Thanks again though.
Why did you add that plate attached (10:32) to the top bracket?
+Guy Mooglie Just a piece of trim. So you can't see the cuts in the platform.
thanks..
Try pulling your weld
Very bad ugly cut. Take more time dont rush things.
Ugly torch cuts
