Listening to this on the eve of Endwalkers launch makes it so nostalgic. Almost like an old wine that has done nothing but gotten better over these last few years. To all those who are playing FF14 and those that are not please be excellent to one another as it is one of the only ways to truly live.

This is a phenomenal cover. I never imagined that Dragonsong would work so well with this genre but you nailed it!
Heavensward was such a good expansion. Memories of my epic voyage with Alphinaud, my dragoon bro Estinien and Ysale come rushing back. And the final showdown with Nidhogg on the steps of faith.
This. Don't get me wrong I adored Stormblood and going through start to finish with my party of friends was amazing, but Heavensward just had this raw emotion to it that all culminated in that moment with you standing across from Nidhogg, prepared to battle as Dragonsong plays. Such an absolutely perfect scene.
I agree it was awesome
Now if only the cutscene leading up to nidhogg just ran into a solo duty instead of bringing the pace to a screeching halt to make you find a party.
+akritos546 I was fortunate enough that when I did it I didn't have to wait long, but honestly I didn't mind spending time soaking up the atmosphere of that moment.

No. Here's the problem: 'FINAL FANTASY XIV set the Guinness World Record for most original pieces of music in a video game (including expansions) with an astonishing 384 songs. * This count includes all songs up to patch 3.45, which released on November 1, 2016.'. It has been nearly two years since it set that record. They have added even more music since. An entire expansion's worth.
For the record, my Patreon request from forever ago when he did those (he doesn't anymore and it's unclear if they're coming out) was Fallen Angel

Just for the record though, most songs are from FFXIV 1.x or a leitmotif of current songs, so it may have set a record, but that also counts the sound effects/ambient effects/"songs".
FFXIV: Heavens Ward is honestly one of my favorite gaming experiences of my short 26 years. I fucking loved that expansion. You doing a cover of it, just makes everything better.

Fully admit it was weird hearing a male voice do the lyrics at first, but after a bit it captured me as much or more as the original. Amazing job!

FFXIV is by far my favourite game of all time, with heavensward still being my favourite expansion to date and this cover genuinely makes me tear up every time I hear it, the best version of this song by far~
I think no matter what happens, for the rest of time there will be nothing more special to every FFXIV than Heavensward. Even if it's not your personal favorite thing about the game, something about it was just undeniably special. I remember the night before the game went down for the maintenance before 4.0 and a bunch of people on Malboro went to sit next to Hauchefant's grave, with more and more coming until pretty much the whole server was there.

A trailer for an HD version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles just came out announcing it's coming to PS4 and Switch. It would be cool if you could do a cover of Morning Sky. Maybe you could do a guitar solo in place of the bagpipe solo (unless you know how to play bagpipes haha).

Came back to this after finally playing FFXIV myself and completing the HW expansion myself. Man this cover went from awesome to awe-striking given the context of it all from the game. Wonder if you'll ever hit up the FFXIV OST again to do a cover.
