The 4050 is probably the best -50 series card they've released so far. This card handles basically every game out there at 1080p without much trouble and is also a lot more power efficient than previous generations.
@@artvandelay837 Generally it'd pair best with a FHD display. Technically you could probably push older titles at QHD/1440p but modern games will struggle to run at native res (maybe if you use DLSS).

I'm from Nicaragua and I bought this thing in Microcenter like 3 weeks ago and I can't wait longer to start using that beast. It would have been great if you guys talked a little bit more about the specs and test it in more games, but still an amazing video.
You spent more time talking about the stickers than the actual build quality and screen of the laptop lol. What makes this laptop not great for the $, is the terrible build quality and a bad screen with low brightness, weak color gamut, and slow response times. You also get a USB-A 2.0 port and the USB-C doesn't do display port, so you can only do HDMI. I also wouldn't trust the hinges on this laptop lasting considering past budget MSI laptops have always had hinge issues. A lenovo Ideapad, Dell G15, or Asus TUF are all better options for budget tier 4050 laptops or last gen stuff. I've seen 3060 laptops with bigger batteries, much better screens and build quality, better ports,etc. in the US go for as low as $850-$900.

I dont think you should buy any of the series 40 laptops now. If you will upgrade in a year, maybe. You can get a legion 5 pro with a full tgp 3060 that will absolutely destroy this katana for the same price +-.
I have the 4060 variant, the cpu gets spicey, easily hitting 100c in casual gaming on performance mode, got an msi alpha 17 with the 4070 on the way though, hopefully better cooling and slightly better frames.

Im checking the MicroCenter link while watching this video. There is no shipping for this laptop. For me it would be 1200 miles round trip to the closets MicroCenter. The gas, meals, time and hotel would negate any savings. Amazon has it at $1,299.00. No other seller was close. You guys should have removed the bottom cover and showed the internals. 6gbs of vram is a good start. But I'm still don't think the 40 series laptops are as good of a buy than the 30 series. You can get a 30 series that will preform much better.
A 80w 4050 is very slightly faster than a 110-120w 3060 in 1080p, and that's not counting Frame Generation, so if the price is right 4050 is a better option imo

i bought the msi katana but the 4060 version for the same price it came with a 12th gen CPU instead of the 13th gen and 512 gb of storage instead of the 1tb im going to upgrade to 2tb or 1.5 tb but im also thinking of upgracing the ram from 16-40 which is overkill
Replace the 3070ti when you won't receive driver updates anymore or if it will die or make coolwhine. Replace the 5800x if you think it will help you at the tasks you do on PC or if it will solve any annoying problem you might have.
I have a katana laptop with 4070 & 12th gen, 1440p 165hz. With cooling boost on the cpu temp never rises above 79 on 128p BF2042 High Settings 90-100fps. I don't know what is going on with their laptop, the cooling boost didn't change their temp a little bit.

How is it imaginery if it's literally software you can use for many games? DLSS is great, there's no reason to not use it on a lower end spec device like this.
@@TBoogy3 Exactly. I honestly believe you should just use it whenever you can, even on a higher end machine. It's literally free fps and the difference in picture quality is mostly negligible. Also I just don't really care about resolution too much, I just want the best performance possible.

RTX 4050 is generally 8% faster than the laptop version of RTX 3060, both come with 6GB VRAM.

I have a lenove loq with a 4050 and it only needed a ram upgrade and its a beast for modern games

16GB of DDR5 at 4800mhz helps make up for that I'm sure.

@Cristi161 For the colwhine part, it's normal, most of the time it's not audible but it can be sometimes, no need to replace the GPU.
