Just got this laptop recently for 1700$ , I could of gotten something cheaper like the asus tuf f15 rtx 4060 but the katana had a better cooling system and hits 76°C on max load , I. 3D mark timespy I hit a score 10500, the laptop itself is very slim and portable, love it

It’s $899 at Costco right now. Thinking about getting it for my son as his first gaming laptop.

“The stuff that makes it go BRRRRR” killed me😂

Had mine up and running for no more than a few hours now, so far nothing but good to say about it. I suppose I'm lucky to have held out until the black Friday deals. Got mine with 16GB RAM, i9-13900H CPU and RTX 4070. Absolute beast compared to my desktop which is 5 years out of date almost. Best part is this was goin for £1900-£2000 on a normal month but with the sales was reduced by £800. Bloody great steal.

Was planning on getting this laptop for college, but I've seen a lot of people really give the screen bad reviews. The brightness seems especially bad, with people saying in a bright scenarios it could be hard to see things on screen. Was just wondering if anyone who has this laptop has had problems with that. Thanks.

I'm getting this for my college, almost exact same specs too! It was 1.1k for me, including tax so that's honestly a good deal imo. Thank you for making this

I have been thinking about buying the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 (2023) with Intel Core i7-12700H and 8GB RTX 4060(140W). The pricing is 1,410 $. Do you think it's worth it?

I bought this laptop just now to upgrade from my 2018 Dell Inspiron 7567 (Intel Core i5 7th Gen + Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti), and I'd have to say, after watching this review, I feel even more confident and great about my purchase!

Fantastic review! The MSI Katana 15 gaming laptop with its 144Hz FHD display looks like a powerful gaming machine. Your detailed insights and performance tests have given me a clear picture of what this laptop is capable of. As someone in the market for a gaming laptop, this one has definitely caught my attention. Thanks for sharing your expertise and showcasing this gaming powerhouse!

I just bought one with the exact specs, my old gaming laptop died on me this weekend. This one should arrive in 2-3 days and after watching this, I feel even more confident about my purchase, so thank you.

Just got one with a 4070 and 32gigs of ram and otherwise I think we have the same thing. So far.... It's fine. I paid 1500 on a tax free week in my state so it's fine. My desktop has a 1070Ti and i7-7700k so its quite the upgrade on that front. Plus I've had some problems with the desktop completely shutting down under heavy loads so I'm not sure what's going on with that but hopefully I'll be using this mostly for rendering/editing 4k video without having shut-downs ruin my entire workflow. Ran hogwarts legacy on ultra settings for about 4 hours and didn't have a single frame drop. Hard to complain when the desktop can't run it on the lowest settings without crashing the whole thing.

I bought this one today as the webshop miss priced the item. I paid 629 EUR for it and a couple minutes later they changed it back to 1435 EUR. Steal of a lifetime and a nice upgrade from my i5 2060 desktop

Bought at Walmart fpr 999. I cant believe how nice it is. I got 10300 on 3d mark. Score was Comparable to way more expensive laptops. Im definitely a happy camper

Idk if this applies to the katana 15, but the katana 17 I have with the same specs has a lot of fan noise. Even when I don't have anything running. It comes and goes intermittently. The battery life is also abysmal even for a gaming laptop. Moreover, the laptop only comes with a 1080p screen and has okay speakers at best. Other than that, just purely in terms of performance, the machine is a beast.

Would like to see you run it on your external monitor as well.. I have a two-year-old MSI with a RTX 3060 32 gigs Ram. When playing Resident Evil 2 Remake It barely holds 60 FPS throughout the whole game.. Your MSI 4060 seems the average 99 FPS, so itdefinitely a good upgrade for the price.. Also I think you'll find the RTX 4070. Is just a couple of $100 more in a laptop with about a 15% to 25% higher in frames Rate's. Not to go off topic, But it might be a good review in the future... Either way, great video, good job, thank you😅

I got this for 1200 at Walmart yesterday I was wanting a different laptop but they didn’t have any in stock. I thought about going with a 900 dollar desktop but I wanted to change it up and it’s nice being able to move where I game as sometiems a gaming chair will kill my back. Older mmos I play work super smooth and I even played destiny 2 with the graphics up really high and it worked good the only time I get small lag is if I try running something in the background when there is a lot of things going on in destiny 2. But for gaming or browsing it’s really good and this is really all you need. I would only go with better specs if your a content creator or a streamer. Average joe you will be happy with this

I ordered this, but not for gaming. It just looked cool. I plan on using it for academics, mostly writing.

I have the Katana with the i5 chip instead of the i7. Around the same price buying it from Newegg. Oddly, this one lacked the mouse, though not really complaining as since I travel a lot, a traditional mouse doesn't function very well and a wireless trackball mouse is not very expensive at all (plus I bought both at the same time). The trackpad on mine actually is decently built and handles the pressure better than your model. It's handled a few small bumps along the way and one or two "I hope the screen survived" moments. No damage and performs awesome. I've ran a PS3 emulator on it for like 3 days straight (Gran Turismo 5 B-Spec endurance racing) and it never gave a fuss pulling that kind of load against the GPU and CPU. The only thing I have issue with is Sim City 4 absolutely refuses to boot on this laptop but will boot on my desktop (which uses an 11th gen chip and I think the 12th gen chip bricks the game).
