Geoff Williams I wouldn't say that Hillary stole the 2016 primaries....inasmuch as it is the reality that the system is so deeply corrupted that corporate money has waaaaaay too much influence and say over the direction of U.S. politics.
As it stands...the current U.S. political system will simply not allow economic populists like a Bernie Sanders to stand a meaningful chance of getting heard on the national stage.
It will likely take a massive populist political uprising to change this situation. Those situations tend to get pretty bloody.
Think back to the Union workers versus the Corporations/Pinkerton pitched battles of the Post-civil war Industrial era of the USA.

Maybourne was not an evil person. Misguided perhaps, uninformed without a doubt, self important for sure, but not evil. If you really watch, he was always trying to do what he honestly thought was best to insure the safety and security his country and his planet, even if he had to bend the rules to do it. Okay, maybe his country first, but he was career military. As the series went on, he grew, learned and eventually he and Jack even became reluctant allies when the need arose. Jack even seemed to give Maybourne a certain grudging respect, if not complete trust, at the end. That change and growth was why Maybourne was one of my favorite semi-regular characters in the series. As someone else posted, "He went from being the character you loved to hate to the character you hated to love."

He's mostly right about Dumerican Politics.
"The only currency in this town IS power."
It's a vicious cycle of power begetting bribes leading to more corruption.
"...given the chance, half of all DUMerican citizens won't even vote. And the half that do vote are too stupid to know what they're doing."
This part is only partially correct. The Republican voters are split between useful idiots and mindless cultists.
The Democrat voters are split between useful idiots and the Bernie wing. All four groups make mistakes, some more than others.

US presidential election turnout has been surprisingly low considering that politics there are so pervasive: it's hovering around 55 percent (exception being 2008 when it jumped to 58). Midterm elections is pretty abysmal: starting from 70's, it's been hovering below and up of 40 percent. Except again in 2018 when it jumped to 50.3 percent.
Though to be fair, this is a problem common to most established democracies around the globe, not just US. Voting activity has declined steadily since 80's. People have just stopped caring or if they do care, they feel that they can't do anything about it by voting.
