Actually when I first listened to the studio version of Endless Story I didn't think much of it.
When it comes to this song, live version is always few times better. This song was the closer for their pre-covid concert at Line Cube Shibuya, where Saiki gave an emotional speech to fans in Shibuya, the place Band-Maid started. And that was where their first Budohkan concert was announced. Budohkan once was the biggest and the most prestigious live venue in Japan, well known for the Beatles performing in their world tour. The excitement of the fans was explosive, but much disappointment to both the band and their fans, the concert was cancelled due to increasing covid cases in Japan. I remember Akane's crying while performing this song in Chicago in 2022, during their first US tour after covid.
I don't know why but this song bring back those memories whenever they perform it at the end of concerts.
Like others said, the live version from Yokohama Arena concert was unbelievable. Magical.😢

Welcome back. Thanks for the reaction and comments. The MV is much more approachable. I find the official live version tough to watch. It's extremely emotional and bittersweet in the best possible way. These ladies know how to pull on the heartstring and make a grown man teary eyed.

at the 25 Oct 2022 show, the audience did their part with the oh oh oooh, Saikipointed out to Kanami and now it's a staple.

This was written to be an anthemic sing-along for large concerts. Now you gotta watch them perform ENDLESS STORY as the last song of their Tenth Anniversary Tour at Yokohama Arena.

Uff, yeah. Saiki "audible" allmost in tears at the end of the yokohama concert is really heart warming.
There is a fan cam video of akane crying while playing the drums to this song. This hits hart. 🥰 search for "the heart of Akane Hirose"

Oooh… I appreciate, and agree with the sentiment about wanting to see the music video sometimes, but the live version of this is not just better, it’s truly very special for reasons I’m sure others have already explained. So check that out next… I’d love to see your reaction!

The song is about the love affair between Band Maid and their fans. Nothing like them in the world

Great reaction to a great song. This was written with a large crowd singing along in mind (originally for their Covid cancelled Budokan Arena show I believe). Now that you are familiar with it you will appreciate the Yokohama live version all the more and is definitely worth watching. Make sure you have the captions turned on to see Saiki's messages to the audience. The whole song is emotional but the added lyrics near the end really got the tears flowing.

This music video was shot on Oshima, a remote island in Tokyo.
An active volcano called Mt. Mihara at the center of the island last erupted in 1986, so the black sandy beach is probably the result of volcanic ash.

It was always Kanami's dream to play Yokohama Arena. She's from not far away. Akane used to pass by on the way to school and the first live concert she ever attended was there. They talked about their dreams several years ago and Kanami wrote this specifically to play there. Kanami wanted her grandmother to watch her play there, but unfortunately she passed beforehand. Kanami said "Obachan" (grandma) just before going on stage. Band-Maid closed their show at Yokohama Arena with this song and the emotion and joy just permeated the arena. You really do need to watch the live.

I/we really recommend you check out their live version ruclips.net/video/Za1y-RRVd70/видео.html . Kanami wrote this song "specifically" for this type of occasion. As an all encompassing band - crowd participation closing song in a big arena. You can see all the girls getting emotional at certain points in the performance (especially Kanami)..... realising that they have actually achieved Kanamis'/their goal, a huge milestone and they, try as they might, couldn't contain their emotions. It is a great performance....... And have the Close Captions ON. If you don't get a "tiny bit" emotional....... then you're not human.
