    In my 18th year of overall body pains and symptoms, I firmly promised myself to not behave like ‘ Sherlock Holmes( 🕵️‍♀️ detective)anymore now.
    It adds to my stress and I want my stress to down size so just accepting the flares and accept that that’s where I am now .
    Always shifting my mindset to positive!
    Makes this whole process less frustrating!
    The fact that the symptoms eb and flow is extra proof that it’s not structural ..
    And of course using the calm response you teach us!

    If my brain doesn’t have symptoms to chew on it makes scenarios to worry about. Working on that. Need happy or at least neutral thoughts.

      An anxiety flare up is no different than a pain flare up. The concepts in this video can help with anxiety too. Anxiety is definitely a TMS equivalent.

      Me too. I suppose if I had lived under ground for 2 years I would get on people's nerves yelling from the rooftops about living in the light. Really, I guess that's what I'm doing now! After living and being trapped, for years, in the darkness due to pain, I guess I get on people's nerves talking about how much better I feel. 😀

It’s the thing I am going down every single time because having been told that all my pain is due to inflammation in the body due to eating something that doesn’t suit my gut. But that something was never figured out. The fact is I eat healthy. Here I am dealing with guilt and fear of food.

Today suddenly my symptoms have flared up , after having lunch suddenly heart started pounding here it's heavily raining and I stopped my car and just opened your vedio and just paid attention.       this can be a normal reaction to eating food, it happens to me all the time. just eat, no worries.

    I always anticipate a flare up when I hear bad news or stress out about something. And I am always right so it’s very frustrating. I don’t know how to stop them.

      Awareness of those thoughts and a decision to not believe them can begin to change things for you. Change your expectations. Stress does not need to cause a flare up. And even if it does, how you RESPOND matters most.

    Doctors appointment for blood tests and then onto Hospital for physio. Woke fine, as the time nears, gut issues. Roll of eyes. Got in car, drove to park for ten min walk, anxiety still high but I know I've got it. Heading home after stopping to listen, (very appropriate lol) and then walking to doctors. Busy day but it's not dangerous. Enjoy your weekend.

      @@PainFreeYou back from hospital physio and therapist commented that my perceived danger pain (re broken arm)has definitely gone down significantly. Hence she said I've got a lot more movement in a week and she then pushed me further to straighten my arm. Big thanks to you for your clear concise explanation of what's going on. Pure clarity.🙏👏

      Panic is not an effective strategy. See if you can flip the script. KNOW that it's TMS/PDP and smile. It's temporary and WILL pass.

      Be very clear with your brain that stress does not have to mean pain. Yes, it does currently, but you can teach the brain to respond differently. How we respond to the pain is the best opportunity to influence the brains perception of safety.

    I wish I would have had this message years ago. Whenever my symptoms worsened ,,, I was always so stressed out and wondering why I can really use this going forward as my symptoms are still not stable. Lol. When they are not as bad I am so happy. I need to work on myself more in the dips

    thanks Dan, I have been in the midst of a flare up, which feels more intense than before. I've since been doing the journal speak practice, and I feel like I am digging, digging, digging for the emotional answer as to why the pain is so bad. And my mind is trying to convince me that its "something else". This video was helpful and reminded me to balance out the practice and approach I have towards the flare.

    We had a big heatwave in England this week and my danger alarm bells went nuts as I font like the heat. I'm still feeling ill from it (I have CFS) but am doing lots of calming exercises for my brain.

      Sprits yourself with a water bottle and a fan to stay cool. The heat won't last very long. Hang in there.

    I love this! I kind of think if I find out what the danger was then that's almost worst because I don't want to know because then I will fear it. It's so good to skip this part and know the flare-up doesn't mean anything. The bottom line is nothing is dangerous. Ta dah!!! You are a genius Dan :)

    Dan, thank you. Physical symptoms went away then I thought I had a thinking problem. Decided and made a choice with clarity and reassurance not to give it a second thought in return I had some great mentally clear days then boom went to go to sleep then anxiety off the charts almost into panic. Crazy symptoms i haven’t had in months!

      when symptoms go away, anxiety can take the place of the symptoms. Why? Because the brain is still hyper vigilant and in the absence of symptoms the brain can create worry, fire up the stress response and anxiety is the result.
      Anxiety is not dangerous and isn't a new problem to solve. Treat the anxiety like any other TMS symptom. With calm reassurance, clarity that you are okay. An anxiety flare is just like a pain flare. The concepts in this video can work for anxiety.

    After reading and listening to all the things about TMS, at the beginning of my journey, I would try to identify the "why", but I could NEVER find the "reason". I've learned to accept that, for what ever "reason", my symptoms will ebb and flow. "Why" doesn't matter. I just address my awesome brain. 🤚😊❤
    (It does make me wonder if I'm the only one though, because this seems to be the consensus of the TMS community. But that doesn't really matter to me either, because I know I don't have to address anything other than my brain)

      I love the cicadas too. They remind me of my childhood. Which ever tree they were in, we would go touch the tree and the chirping would stop. We were in awe every time it happen. My granddaughters and I have been fortunate enough to observe a couple emerging from their shells, this summer. SO cool. But I can see how it could get on someone's nerves! I'm so glad I found how to use these methods for my symptoms, because I don't believe I would have been able to keep my grandchildren this summer nor enjoy their company.

      Give it as little concern, fear and attention as possible. When we show the brain the noise is not important, it can fade away.

    On my 3rd lot of antibiotics, carnt get rid of the water infection, so is it still okay to keep telling the brain there's not a problem, while iv still got this infection, will the brain know the difference between, a medical problem, and PDP🤔

      So much antibiotics and little improvement 🤫. My old doctor would say that a real infection reacts in the first days after taking them.. if it’s resistant and stays, he would think psychologically, and take the fear away.. and treat it as pdp.. hope you feel better soon Kathy!

      If there is a legitimate infection, stressing about it will not help it be handled. When in the stress response, the immune system is suppressed and doesn't operate as efficiently. There is NO downside to a calm, reassuring response and stressing less about it all.

    Thanks for the videos! How do you increase your brains tolerance for stress? I feel like it can be dramatic and cause pain for things that are stressful but I feel like I can handle...

      If symptoms arise, a calm response and not showing concern for the symptoms is a great message of safety. Noticing the stress building and being very clear with your brain that you are NOT in any danger can send the right message from the intelligent portion of the brain. Combining the right messages of safety with a calm response to any symptoms will teach the brain we are okay. Consistent messages of safety can help. It's more than just what we say.     Really useful video Dan, thank you. Can I ask a question I've been curious about. This is a journey of ups and downs, but did you / your clients consciously notice when the pain stops? Or is it such a slow process it's not actually perceptible?

      Yes, we definitely notice when the pain is not there. A more nuanced question may be - how do you know that the recovery is complete? That is more difficult because in the absence of pain, we worry about its return for a while. For me, it took a while before the fear of pain returning was no longer present.

      I see. So it sounds like when your brain gets it and decides to switch off the pain it can happen quite quickly and noticeably. Even if there’s lingering fears of a return/relapse… if I’m understanding correctly

      I actually broke my arm and my TMS went. 12 weeks Arm on the mend but TMS back from sabbatical lol need to use this experience as final proof and banish TMS

      @@1STBUCKLEY yes yes yes. 10000% Proof it's all TMS and created in the brain. That clarity will be very helpful in dialing down the fear of the TMS symptoms. Do the same with your arm recovery. Trust the body to heal.
