- Diagnosis Tips on 2002 Beetle tdi with ALH engine for p0402 EGR system Excessive flow. Opps! Tried to diagnose this code, but should done closer visual inspection first!

Amazing video, I was looking for this kind of stuff to test the egr valve and control solenoid!
thanks!
Thanks for the Video. Its is helping me solve my P0402. I am only showing 8in vacuum, not 20 or so when I run the N18 VAG-COM test. My hoses are all new and I'm getting 20 in from the pump and various other points along the way. Thinking my N18 might be bad.
Is the diaphragm ruptured?
I have a 98 5.4 f150 4x4....Would egr create a starting issue? I have p0171 p0453 p0402 codes i changed the evap hose. After its warmed up truck starts fine, but first time i turn it on no matter the outside temp. After sitting for a few hours or overnight it takes a min to turn over, then in a second it starts dies, then starts up 2nd or 3rd try. Also after it warms up, driving about twenty min it starts to shutter, lose power, acceleration is floppy
EGR stuck open can affect starting. I have a recent video that explores or explains that a bit. ruclips.net/video/STRQGT1CqNY/видео.html
Awesome 👏!!!
OOPS!
LOL... same thing happens to me. I get so focused on a task, that I don't see the obvious that's in front of my eyes.
Yup! I literally pointed to a tube that wasn't there but didn't notice it wasn't there.
Your up late!
@@CoolAirVw Got the day off today. =)
Can you still test the vacuum and electronics on the solenoid system without a bi-directional diagnostic tester? Like, if I can supply the ground or power the solenoid valve requires to actuate, can I put a vacuum on the line and expect it to hold vacuum? Or would it not work like that
yes, and yes.
thanks
your welome!
Yay at last someone talking without annoying background music
thanks for watching.
Could you remove the trigger from VCDS?
you mean stop the code from happening? NO. You can with a tuner like Malone tuning or something.
What would be the next step if all the egr components were there and not blocked off in any way?
I've tried replacing the egr valve, the solenoid, I've even checked the programming with vcds to make sure all the values are original. I've checked for corroded wires and tried replaceing the MAF sensor but I cannot get this code to go away.
Do you have this model of engine? AlH?
@@CoolAirVw yes I do, 2001 golf tdi
@@B3NNi420 check that diaphragm is holding vacuum. That's the most common failure.
@@CoolAirVw yes I have checked the diaphragm and tested the solenoid
Well check your vacuum hoses for leaks..
I like to electronically delete the egr so that the egr code doesn't show up. Not even any need for a blanking plate either!
Ethan McCrory how? Can you do it with vcds lite?
@@alexlarsen6568 yes, however it just sets minimum value it does not fully delete the egr map
😆
thanks for watching and commenting on my channel.
Why in the world would you want exhaust gasses going into your intake??? That’s dumb
Is it?
