    Currently having this issue with the family's F150 with the 4.6 and had to look up something to go by since I don't normally work on V8s. Great video and explanation to the problems which could cause this issue.

    Exactly what caused my problem...I got a piece of mig wire through the carbon to start. Then I cut a 6 inch piece of 1/16 inch cable and chucked it in a drill. Just ran the drill while moving in and out of hole. As you suggested lots of carb clean or brake clean helps. Great video thanks!

    Excellent video, also oil builds up in the egr vacuum lines which restricts flow.

    If my truck turns on and immediately dies is it also p0401 ? That was my only code showing but it was still running fine till I let it sit for a week now it immediately stalls after turning on?

    • @biggirlsgarage8331
      @biggirlsgarage8331  2 года назад

      I would check for a major vacuum leak as well. We had a similar issue your describing, and it was the tube that connects to the back of the intake manifold. It’s rubber hose with a plastic lining on the inside and our inner plastic part was snapped.

    Did u replace gaskets? I've cleaned egr n thinking this my next step. Got a dpfe from scrapyard n it registers a 402 code n original gives me 401. This is my next step before ck engine light burns out. Lol

    • @biggirlsgarage8331
      @biggirlsgarage8331  Год назад

      The dpfe from the scrap may be faulty. You never know when taking parts from the junk yard. I did not replace the gasket

    • @thepantherchannel2988
      @thepantherchannel2988 Год назад

      It’s always good to replace the gasket anyway. Just in case the old gasket is bad or of it is still good but got kinked somewhere. Just in case, so you don’t haven’t to do it again.

    I have an 03 5.4, P0401 code. Brand new EGR valve, brand new DPFE sensor/hoses, and brand new EGR vaccum solenoid. Still have the P0401 code....could it be the EGR tube plugged up? I have already completely cleaned every single port on the intake...

    • @biggirlsgarage8331
      @biggirlsgarage8331  Год назад +1

      That code is normally associated with a bad DPFE sensor, but since you have a new one, I would look to see if the ports or tubes are plugged. Also make sure that the new DPFE is a motorcraft or good reputable brand part. I've had issues in the past with new cheap china parts still throwing codes. It's also unlikely since theyre are different sizes, but make sure the vaccum hoses to the dpfe are routed correctly

    • @jaredadams5194
      @jaredadams5194 Год назад +1

      @BigGirlsGarage The DPFE is Standard Motor Products, I haven't had any problems with their stuff. I bought a new EGR tube to see if that does anything. Thanks for the response, much appreciated!

    Why didn't you ckean the actual EGR Valve?🤷🏽‍♀️
    You took off the throttle body to clean and that's good, but it does help to actually clean the EGR Valve to and even the Idle Air Control Valve since those can have carbon build up also.

    It's good to use throttle body cleaner in that throttle body, not brake fluid!

    • @westhavenor9513
      @westhavenor9513 10 месяцев назад

      Probably, but he used brake cleaner, not brake fluid. I think the only difference is that throttle body cleaner can be safely ingested and burned in the engine. So brake cleaner was fine in this case, since he cleaned it while it was off the engine.
