I've been scouring Pinterest and RUclips for days looking for a solution to the privacy dilemma I've been experiencing as a renter. We're on the first floor, directly across from the pool. Because of Covid, visits to the pool are limited to ten people, by appointment only. This is pretty tough to explain to my toddler who can see the pool from every window. I hoped a privacy screen would help by keeping the pool out of sight, out of mind. Unlike the upper floors that have fences on their patios, the bottom floor does not, and every type of privacy screen I could find required some sort of installation that wouldn't be allowed. So began my quest to find a renter friendly, diy, affordable solution. This is by far the most clever, practical and economical solution. Thank you SO much for posting your idea!
That's a great idea, i just need temporary curtains when i have friends/family eating outside on my patio. I wouldn't need to leave it out all the time. This is perfect! Thanks!
Thank you so much I’ve been thinking and thinking what I could put outside on my balcony so my nosy neighbors and I have peace and privacy. This is such a cheap and great idea.
I know this is old and we're getting back to traveling. But you gave me such a GREAT idea for when we travel and want to have a dressing area or want to sort of 'separate' the hotel room! My Target had just sold the last rack and I need this soon so I decided to make one! It cost me a little more, but it'll work for us. I went to Home Depot's plumbing section and bought eight 24 inch PVC pipe 3/4 inch round ($2.59/each.) They were already cut. I picked up 8 t-shape connectors (.85/each). I took my hack saw ($$Tree) and cut two of the rods in half. I connected two rods together with the t connector like an open rectangle for the base and put a t connector on the 'feet' then put a cut piece on each side to make it stable. I connected three rods straight up in the middle (one t connector at the middle and one on top) and put a connector on top to hold a rod on both sides. The connectors were so sturdy! I think we got the curtains from the same thrift shop! I found dark burgundy that weren't too heavy and a black sheet for the middle for extra privacy. I just threaded them through both sides and closed them in the middle with two hair clips. It was so easy to pull apart and put in an old lawn chair carrying sling bag and room enough to put the curtains in too. No one has to wait for someone after they're done showering and having to dress in the bathroom in the hotel. We can set it up in the corner of the hotel room by the desk area so whoever needs to use the desk lamp for whatever or if anyone wants a little privacy away from the bed. Thanks for the idea!
It worked BEAUTIFULLY!! Took me about 10 minutes to set up. We saved so much time in not having to wait for the bathroom. I set it up in the corner diagonal next to the wet bar sink outside of the bathroom and we just slung our swimsuits over the top to dry while we changed. So while someone could be in the bathroom, someone could be in that area freshening up in the sink. I love that there was no presumption that just because we were of the same gender, that we would be comfortable changing in front of one another. One of our crew said they really appreciated the thoughtfulness. I didn't tell them I was doing it. All the pieces, including the "curtains" (which were really dark/opaque flat sheets) fit right inside an old lawn chair sling carrier & it was MUCH cheaper than the 'professional' version for $90 online 🙄 Thank you for a great idea!
Haha, that means you are a trend setter. Tension rod is great! I used the rack for versitialy so it can stand alone. Thanks for watching and I love your creativity!
I use shower curtains and clips that look like potato chips clips with a wide mouth to fit over the pole. I also use safety pins to pin the curtain once it’s on the rack and tie it to a sturdy post because the wind 💨 will blow it over. I decorate with ribbon and garlands according to the season and holiday.
I like that this privacy screen is also removable so that times when I do want to see and talk to my neighbors it can be removed; yet it serves the purpose for when I need quiet times.
Lmao this was too funny. Im here looking at this for the town house that my fiance and I are moving into. Nothing worse than chatty neighbors especially if you're an introvert.
Lovely idea. I had a similar set up on my balcony but it was more for sun control. I had a west facing unit and used a tension rod to hang heavy room darkening drapes that matched the color of the building. They worked great and kept my place nice for a year and a half until the local HOA told everyone they had to take them down. To be honest I may not renew my lease now as I think the summer heat may be unbearable. All we hear about is conserve electricity. We take proper steps then we’re shut down. Gotta love all the ridiculous policies, procedures and zoning laws in this country. Glad it worked out for you however!!

Great Idea! Thank You!😁
This would b great if you don't has an entry hall but would like to create one. 🎉
Hi, very good idea here - question I have is this…Did you do anything to the curtains (that are indoor curtains) to protect them from rain, fading from sun as well as wind knocking it over easily? Love the crate idea to make it higher. I just feel most concern of mildew on the curtains. Good idea for people who have a roof over their patio as it can easily be moved to protect it against the house but I personally do not have any roof over my monster size patio. Thanks and again, great portable idea
Scotchgard has a spray for outdoor fabric. The have "heavy duty water shield" and "Water and Sun shield with uv protector" you could try one of those?
Shower curtains would be better for outside use.
@@Mavrik9000 How did your shower curtains hold up against the rain?
@@MermaidSyrena I didn't put up any kind of curtains outside. It's too windy where I live for things like that.
Your neighbors must watch your videos 🤣😂

I don't hate people, just hate no privacy.
Get longer curtains to hide the craits
Lol maybe next I'll be lucky to find some.
Where did you find your longer curtains? How much were they?
Crates* for future reference 😊
The gremlins next door to me would laugh at that!!! Help!!! 😂😂😂😂 Imma need something taller and wider. Thanks though 😘
The hillbillies next door to me would definitely laugh and get even louder through out the night

Are these curtains waterproof? It rains a lot here !!
Get some shower curtains with the rings and make sure shower curtains are not see through and you can leave them out all year---rain or shine!
@@dauntiekay2768 already done with a liner and I even weighed down the seams with rocks. My Karen neighbor hates it and I can actually enjoy my own property. Thank you! 🙏
