    It really depends on why you have a catheter as there are multiple reasons from surgery to disease to mental health reasons. that play a role in the length of time. This of course does not apply to intermittent catheters. From what I understand, and, in my case, every 30 days was when my urologist/nurses saw me get it changed to avoid infections and other possible complications.
    Cheers, and wishing you great health. Tony

    Hello Tony. Thank you so much for the informative videos on living with a catheter in place. I am almost 70 and just had a catheter installed for the first time yesterday, 5/7/24. I have watched all of them and truly appreciate your willingness to address these concerns directly. Lots of good information on how to deal with the daily routines of living with a catheter. Emptying, cleaning, sleeping, etc. I am still dealing with the discomfort and psychological aspects of having this thing inside me. Thank you again for the information. I hope you are well!

      Hi Bob, I am so happy to receive your message. Thank you for the kind words. I'm very happy to know that the videos are making a difference in your life. As you're finding out it takes some getting used to having a catheter. I am sorry you have to deal with it all. It does require a lot of mental gymnastics to get through it all which is never talked about. It's physical as well as mental and emotional. I got through it by slowing everything down and taking it one hour at a time. If you have any questions I did not cover in the videos please feel free to reach out and I'll do my best to help. Tony.alcindor@Maletenance.com
      In the meantime hang in there. Cheers Tony

      Hello Jose, Please forgive my delayed response. Regarding your question, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. How many days can you use another catheter? The same one? How long can you keep it in? Are you self-cathing or intermittent? If you can clarify I would be more than happy to try and help you. Tony

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  Год назад +1

      Yeah, the sliding around thing drove me nuts. For me, it was also painful with it moving in and out as I moved. I came up with an incremental design to the existing catheter that allows a range of motion so you can perform activities of daily living with a reduction in friction of about 85%. The patent should be approved any day. May I ask what was the diagnosis that caused you to have to use a catheter?

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  5 месяцев назад

      I'm sure you can and in many cases, most people have to work while having a catheter. I didn't have to work during my time with a catheter as it was during COVID. However, from what many people here have said, it is quite uncomfortable and can cause additional pain from the catheter moving in and out due to movement. There was a gentleman I spoke to that used an adhesive-type mesh bandage to secure his penis to the catheter in place while he worked. He laid flooring for a living, which required a lot of standing and bending down and he said it worked. In any case, it requires some thought on how to navigate this new reality. Cheers and which you all the best. Tony

      Count your blessings. Trust me it was nightmarish!
      It did allow me though to put things in perspective and focus on coming up with an invention to ease the pain of having a catheter. The utility patent is being reviewed and hopefully, it will be on the market in the near future. So something good came out of all of this.

    Hi good afternoon sir. If a man aged 54 wear catheter for 3 months after booster Vaccine AEFI (3rd dose), even Dr. told to start work after 2 weeks of the 1st month, is it really safe? He's a motorcycle Patrol officer btw, working mostly riding bikes but sometimes driving 4x4 to monitor highway safety & maintenance quality.

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  2 года назад +1

      Hi, If the doctor says it's ok to resume normal ADL I would listen to the doctor first and foremost. Like any health issue, it probably would be best to go slowly and not jump right back into things. There may also still be residual pain while sitting for an extended period of time until fully healed.
      After I finally had my catheter removed I really took my time to truly get back to a normal routine and I'm pretty much-doing everything I used to do. Again listen to the doctor, listen to your body, and take things slowly.
      Wishing you great health.

      Ok, three months of anything in your body that wasn't there from birth in not only incredibly disruptive to a near perfect system it is affecting on a deep subconscious state.
      Take it easy, like eating sleeping and getting the morning mail.
      Next two weeks always being aware of any kind of pulling or tugging from the belly button down to the penis. You can start those short walks now. Around the block or less. This is also working on that mental attitude.
      Now pay attention to your foods that can cause inflamation. Plus, stay regular pooping. You don't want those.eye popping pushes.

      @@maletenance : Actually the man was my father. He got another off-work time to rest from doctor after 2 weeks of working. Wearing catheter for 3 months straight while doing outdoor job actually not safe & suitable. The bag can be full filled with urine in just few hours & that's kinda troublesome for Highway Patrol rider. Anyway great thanks to God, to all doctors & nurses involved & to you too for giving lots of healing tips/advise about this. Hi I've been there and it adds insult to injury having the end of your penis being sore and red. This happened to me for two reasons 1) the friction of the catheter going in and out when I moved and 2) improper hygiene.
      Solutions - Take extra care and more diligence when washing the tip and also the catheter where it enters. I would push my penis backward a lil to get the part of the catheter clean thats just inside. Also a little petroleum jelly at the entry point helped me with the friction.
      Cheers and wishing you great health.

      I guess you right, Because this recently replaced catheter is too soft, it's tube easy bends and makes the tip of penis wide open and creates friction by moving roundabout to and fro.
      I'm going to get it changed today.
