Hey Don, thanks for getting this one done. I always thought how ironic it was that "we" turned into the people our parents warned us about. Maybe for only a short while, but as you said, parents give advice, but the kids have to try certain things on their own. A fun tongue-in cheek Jimmy special.

👍 great one, actually named our boat the Leaky Tiki, after Gardner McKay's.

Honestly the best thing you can do is take every song in his discography and put it on shuffle. So you can see how the music grew but he always stayed true to his soul

Yeah, he dabbled in different types of rock in his younger days in Mississippi and Alabama.

Another really funny one I highly recommend is called fruit cakes. The video especially is great! He kind of explains why we're all insane. 😂

The only problem with the video is, you miss the opening.
      "I WANT MY JUNIOR MINTS!"

George Cadogan Gardner McKay (June 10, 1932 - November 21, 2001) was an American actor, artist, and author. He is best known for the lead role in the TV series Adventures in Paradise, based loosely on the writings of James Michener. His character, Adam Troy, is a Korean War veteran who purchased the two-masted 82-foot (25 m) schooner Tiki III, and sailed the South Pacific. The show ran for three seasons on ABC from 1959-1962, for a total of 91 episodes.

Calypso music usually has steel drums, or steelpan,.....that's the distinctive sound that makes you want Rum or Margaritas😂

Did Jimmy dabble in different styles? Jimmy did but truly was modern country decades before its time. Many of his hits would have been radio hits on country radio today.

And in the end he was a little country, a little rock, and a little island music. He created his own style after going to Miami and ultimately Key West so many decades ago. He failed in Nashville and created his own niche in music, only to find, humorously if you think about it, his commercial success in Nashville decades later.

If you really want a long song title check out a song from Meatloaf (who has also left us sadly) called objects in the rearview mirror may appear closer than they are
