I’ve never thought of Jimmy Buffet as country.
Everyone knows Buffet for his campy songs, but this song and “Come Monday” where he’s singing from the heart, are his best.
I have never considered JB as Country, until Country claimed him a few years back.
He Went to Paris is one of my favorites of his songs. PARROTHEADS FOREVER!
Buffet is like Croce style and music all their own
Don, great song to get an intro to him, I might suggest "He Went To Paris" it's storytelling at it's best you will love it . Great reaction as always !!!
My fave JB song. I so should have been a female pirate back in the day.
Jimmy's songs arent really stories of himself, but combinations of events in the lives of characters hes met in his journeys and probably some of his own
I'm 81 years old and first hear Jimmy in 1973. You missed out a lot if your life if you didn't hear Jimmy Buffet.
Jimmy's main problem was back in his heyday neither country nor rock radio knew what to classify him as.
Jimmy Buffett was the most unique entertainer that I have ever heard! Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, he lived on the water and beaches! He had a phenomenol fan club named "The Parrot Heads". Jimmy wrote all of his songs. He amassed a fortune during his lifetime. When he died, he had $1 Billion Cash Dollars in his bank account, plus his restaurant chain...Margarittaville Restaurants! He also earned alot selling his novelties! He was great! He passed away on Sept. 1st, 2023! I bet ELVIS will meet him with a salt shaker in one hand and a cup of Mississippi beach sand in the other!(since they are both from Mississippi) They make me happy; these guys from my Homestate! ❤
I've been a parrot head since I was born cause both my mom and dad love his music
I've lost count of how many times I've seen Buffett in concert, but I always had a great time! Thank you Jacob for the fantastic request! Love Jimmy! Thanks Don for your reaction.
❤
According to Jimmy. He never ran grass. I feel like there was a wink in there when he said that though lol. RIP JB
Jimmy is a dynamic songwriter. He has many sides. Check out his 'He Went to Paris' and 'Come Monday'.
When you start listening to the music just for yourself. You will have achieved
Thanks Jacob and Don!! Another one of my favorite singers. Jimmy wrote it about a guy he met at one of the first places he played when he moved to Key West.
Thanks Jacob for the rrquezt. While Jimmy is widely known for his up tempo fun songs my favorites are his songs that ate more poignant. A friend turned me onto this side of Jimmy in 1990 and I was completely blown away. My favorite, amongst many great ones is " He Went to Paris" why change was covered by Waylon but I always preferred Jimmy's rendition. Thanks Jacob for getting Jimmy on the channel.----
Love this song. He usually sings this last at his concerts.
