Why do we get teary-eyed over the loss of Jimmy Buffett? Because in spite of being a "celebrity", a business tycoon, and a literal icon, he was a genuinely nice person who you always felt like was your friend. And I feel like I lost a friend.

Jimmy was special. One of the few that put his money where mouth was. Save the Everglades, Save the Manatees, Save the Reefs an many more organizations he funded.
Hope he found his salt shaker. R.I.P Jimmy❤❤❤

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche, Esteemed German philosopher and "laughing lion" for the ages
Fly away iconic Beatles, take another road out of town legendary vocalist Steve Perry and Journey, Jimmy Buffett, the chilled poetic, musical visionary may turn out to be the most popular singer/modern day Shakespearean lyrical storyteller in history. What an amazing "squawking Macaw hooman" virtuoso, soaring high over the human drama on the song lines of sublime tropical breezes and trade winds of love and compassion for all of humanity!!!!
Rest in peace now, Jimmy, on higher, serene "ethereal blue waves. " You will be so missed--- dear "endless summer" friend and musical confidant. Jimmy, you personified the ultimate Hawaiian Big Kahuna, and rode the ultimate big blue Maverick surf wave in life for the benefit of all.

The first Buffet song i ever heard was on the radio when i was 18 years old working a summer job pumping gas at a full-service gas station in 1974. The song was Come Monday. Made me a fan for life. In 2009 at 53 years old my daughter took me to a Buffet concert in Nashville TN for a birthday present, I defiantly got wasted in Margaritaville. THEY TELL ME I HAD A GOOD TIME. LOL

I was on a beach in Hawaii around 1980-1981 learning to play guitar when a guy walked into the little pavilion I was sitting in. He showed me some scales and told me some stories. I recognized him having collected his albums since 1974. I never told him I knew who he was. I was honored when he played this song for me on my Takamine acoustic I was trying to play I will always treasure that memory. 😊

So sad to hear of Jimmy Buffett just passing away. He was a great singer-songwriter, musician & actor. His songs have such a laid back island feel to them. I had a couple of his albums. He had a lot of hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Margaritaville", “Son Of Son Of A Sailor”, “Fins”, “He Went To Paris”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, "Come Sunday", “One Particular Harbor”, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, “Volcano”, “Boat Drinks”, “Pencil Thin Mustache” etc.

Thanks for sharing this. I love Jimmy Buffet but have heard this song. Idk how that happened. Beautiful. He was young when I was. An American Icon. My husband’s from Hawaii. I lived there for several years. Jimmy performed at the Waikiki Shell, an outdoor venue. This makes me think of my time there. South Florida must be paradise.
We were all talking about his many talents and friends and family who kind of grew up with him. We’ll really miss him. He has a restaurant in my city. Will try to visit it soon.

My grandma lived in Key West back in the days when Jimmy would busker down on Duval St, usually near Sloppy Joe's. She'd put a dollar in his case everyday as she walked downtown to work at a local gift shop. She said he was a sweet boy that would make her laugh.

This is the first time I've come across your channel and I am now a subscriber. This is the most heartfelt tribute to one of the few I consider truly genius.. and that's saying a lot for my boomer generation which is full of great singer-songwriters He inspired at least one group of us from Nashville to strive for that Island lifestyle.. He is already missed and will be remembered forever. I passed his music on to my children and will pass it to my grandchildren too.

This was an important song to me growing up and on into adulthood. "Arriving too late" especially, when I felt out of place. He wrote some songs that were true story's about himself. Come Monday is one of them. He wrote it for a girl he later married in 1977 and up until the day he died.

Jimmy was well known for his "fun" songs like "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Fins", and "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Sc**w". But he was a great songwriter who could tell a deep story with his lyrics. Songs like "A Pirate Looks at Forty", "Son of a Son of a Sailor", "Come Monday", and "He Went to Paris" are what I think of when think of him.

The world feels a bit empty now. Jimmy's life was a movie script from the beginning. His grandfather was a ship captain, his dad born on that ship in Havana bay. Grew up in Mobile, AL. And we were so lucky that jimmy was such a wonderful story teller. I do not get emotional over entertainers, but this is different. He made the crowds feel like they were his friends and boy did and do people love him.
