Buffet was a poet. Living in the Florida Keys Buffet was the soundtrack of our lives. The fans call themselves Parrot Heads.
I don't normally pay much attention to celebrities, but I cried for 3 days when I heard Jimmy had passed. His songs were the soundtrack to most of my life and all of his fans will miss him greatly. Talk about a life well lived! His last album was put out posthumously, called "Equal Strain On All Parts", features one Sir Paul McCartney playing bass on one of the songs.
He's changing it up too much. The original is awesome. Would have been amazing to see what Elvis would have sounded like if he had recorded it.
This live performance is probably not the best way to listen to the best version of this song.Buffett passed away this year and he lived and breathed and died the stories of his music. he died from the complications of skin cancer.Jimmy recorded Come Monday in 1974,you might have heard that song before. He has a large repertoire.
Long-time Parrot Head here, Buffett lived the life so many of us wish we could have lived. There was nothing like a Buffett concert and the corresponding tailgate parties. So sad that's gone forever.
Jimmys ad lobbing a lot on this version. Check out the VEVO version it’s only audio but it’s easier for you to understand. Although Elvis was a great singer he would not have done this song justice. As for his last name it’s pronounced buff it
This really isn't considered country. Whole other genre!
While in college in northern New York State (near the Canadian border) in the 1990s, my roommate would play Jimmy Buffett whenever it was -20F outside. One day during a massive snowstorm, he bought a small plastic kiddie pool into the dorm and filled it up with water. When I arrived back home after class, he was sitting in his bathing suit in the water while drinking Jack Daniels. Jimmy Buffett's greatest hits were blaring on the stereo. He turned the room into a tropical paradise even with a foot of snow outside and minus 0 weather.
So sad when Buffet passed. He was a genuinely happy-go-lucky, cool dude, and an extremely talented artist as well. J.J. Watt was one of the best NFL Defensive Lineman of all time. He just retired last year. He is 6'5", 288 lbs, by the way.
46+ years old but still not bad.
Going to a Buffett concert was an experience full of friends you never knew you had.
So sad to hear of Jimmy Buffett's recent passing. He was a great singer-songwriter, musician & actor. His songs had such a laid back island feel to them. I had a couple of his albums. He had a lot of hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Son Of Son Of A Sailor", "Come Monday", "Fins", “He Went To Paris”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, “One Particular Harbor”, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, "A Pirate Looks At Forty", “Volcano”, “Boat Drinks”, “Pencil Thin Mustache” etc.
I am a Parrot Head forever. RIP Jimmy.
You must do "It's Five O'clock Somewhere". With Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffet. Jimmy is very popular in the US, all generations....
Margaritaville was the summer drinking partying song in my younger days ..lol love it. I'm a 58 year old woman in the USA.. glad you enjoyed it. Brings back fun memories
People used to ask him,"Where IS Margaritaville?" His reply was, "It's anywhere you want it to be!"
Buffet like a wind buffets. Please listen to his original recording of Margueritaville. It's a classic!
If you were looking for a fun concert, Buffett was it! I must have seen him 15-16 times over the years. He use to tour every summer. His life story, his music, his empire, his fanbase aka Parrotheads, I could spend a book telling you about him, but I encourage you to delve deep into this artist! And not just his amazing musical catalog.
From Jimmy, you should check out; He Went To Paris, and The Captain and The Kid.
If you are interested, you can check out the other end of Jimmy's musical spectrum by listening to "Come Monday". A love song he wrote for his girlfriend (later to become his wife). A beautiful tune. RIP, Jimmy ❤
