    As I was watching her pull that really low chair up to the built in desk I immediately thought "that chair is way too low and doesn't look like it has any lower back support and I can guarantee there will be multiple comments below about it." lol but overall I loved this makeover. Such a great use of the space.

      BUt the chair has to be low if she wants to see the full monitor. :D

    • @Wonderling14

      Throw a nice pillow in the chair seat when in use with the desk…problem solved. Pop it up to the back of the chair for looks!

    • @Wonderling14
      @Wonderling14 Месяц назад

      Plus, just take the taller base off the monitor, add a small wedge to keep it upright. It would fit better in the space and bring the eye level down. Easy Peasy!

    great makeover, the style really suited the client. How comfortable is the desk chair btw? From the looks of it, it seems too low for proper computer use, but maybe that's the camera angle.

    • @jemma50
      @jemma50 2 года назад +111

      Yeah, agree about the desk chair. I don't thing it's the camera angle, it's way too low to be able to work from it. It looks to me like a bar stool would be a better height for the desk...unfortunately, it wouldn't have the comfort. She could work standing up, maybe. I've heard people like to do that. ;)

      It depends on the person, I would find it perfect (I actually have a very similar one) because I work or use my computer sitting with my leg(s) folded under me. Besides, the girl’s pretty tall and you can always plop a cushion under your butt😀
      The ganing/office chair looked out of place before she got rid of it.

    I LOVE this makeover (and I'm sorry to add a 'but' here), but after years and years you still haven't figured out desk-seating and it's so frustrating hahah. 😅 Try putting your arms up on the fold-down desk, like you're typing or using a computer mouse, from that chair height. Your elbows were at least 6+ inches below the desk. No one could work there for longer than a couple minutes at a time. 😫

      Yes a real cute office chair would be better, that raises and lowers. The ergonomics of that situation are bad. Her arms are going to rise up to reach a keyboard on that desk. Also it would be nice to see how much work it is to plug things in that situation. It wouldn't work for me. I think it would be better as a place to store books, or jewelry, or makeup. A cute bar stool and it might have made workable vanity.

    I love how you successfully made the living area (including the beautiful wood from the built-in desk) the focal point of the room. Then when you look at the bedroom area, it has it's own beauty but doesn't overwhelm the space. That is so hard to do in a studio. This is simply beautiful.

    Awesome makeover! I love it as usual. Transforming the hutch as a working area is super cool! However, the chair is just not working for this purpose. The seat is too low compared to the height of the desk top. A good rule of thumb is always having a 90° angle in the elbows and the knees while working at a desk. Margaree is going to be very uncomfortable while working more than a few hours. Apart from this, great job to the whole team!

      The wall desk has not much available surface. That space is useless for eight-hour working (added to the holder chains and that unsuitable chair). Removing the owner`s table is a mistake. Also the directional change of the bed reduce space, I would have left as it was putting something triangular as headboard. The sofa I think should be convertible.

      A redo of the shower/bathroom is more than a quick fix of decor. It would involve plumbing renovations and such, plus it's a rental so it would require the Landlord/Owner's permission (way more than it does for a little paint job). Notice they were using Command hooks and strips so they couldn't even put holes in the wall to hang things.

    Studio makeovers are my favourite I think because they're the most substantial. A minimalist room is done rather quickly even though it looks really nice but a whole studio has so many different areas and I think that's why they're the most exciting videos for me.
    I am completely in love with what you did in this space, the colours and how airy and still warm it looks.
    The floor and the kitchen counter and the foundation of the room are really nice, I'm a sucker for warm hardwood tones and you did the absolute most with a really good base I feel like.
    Also how sweet is it to surprise your sister with this, Jubilee! That's such an awesome gift!

      I used to have a bathroom that we described as “too small to change your mind in”. 😂 the shower was under the roof slope, so it was definitely tiny. I could stand up in it, but I’m under 5’2”. My 6’5” partner at the time definitely could NOT stand up in it!

    It's a cute studio, love the built in desk and bed nook. I agree with all the other comments, the chair is too low to work at the desk. I would not want the hanging plants in the walk way of the bed, shouldn't have to duck around them, not practical. There's room on each side of the window to hang them. It's really cute, the seating area makes it so much more inviting & like the position of the bed, can access both sides.

    I wish you were in Miami, Fl. I'm moving from a 3
    Bdrm house to a studio; bitter sweet move, my Moms death to Covid sparked all this and though I'm really excited, I write while balling my eyes out bcuz her essence still lingers in the house. I really love your videos and humor. And ALL those folks behind the scenes, that help bring your vision to life. WOW, I'm incredibly emotional at the moment. Gonna stop writing.

    What a heartwarming gift from a kind sister. Is the desk chair a bit low for the work surface? Was that a real candle, or did it scorch the sloped ceiling when you moved it to close the desk? I would have picked an more airy coffee table and a less chunky bedside table, but the upholstered furniture and textiles work so well with the great art and soft colour pallet. Nice ceiling light, but (at least on camera) the wall sconce seems harsh. Great finishing touches, as always :)

    Stuuuu-nning!!! That light fixture couldn’t be more perfect in that space. Head board - I’m going to do that. Love the idea of closing the work space at the end of the day, as long as the ergonomics and monitor visibility work. The living room is beautiful. You’ve used and filled the space beautifully Alexander.

    I love it …and if she ever needs an eat in area she can put a small table by her bench and her desk chair can double or a fold down table by the window with a piano hinge (diy Danie could make it) now that the desk is gone the possibilities and the floor space are awesome. Y’all did a great job. I do wonder if maybe she should add locking casters to the bottom of her desk chair to give it just a little more height to reach her desk and make it easier to move around when not in use

    Really well done...especially turning the bed around and creating the headboard! Looks great! Personally, I'd put her desk back.. it is so much more uplifting to work in front of a window, plus realistically any adult working from home would want that desk space...but, the rest is really lovely!

    After watching this, I feel bad for not making the most of my bigger, brighter studio apartment. If a sweet little one can be made to look so airy and spacious, I have no excuse!
    I've sectioned out my space, using a day bed that I use as a settee to separate the sleeping area from the sitting room area, and a square box unit on castors (topped with plants) to separate the sitting area from the kitchen and dining area. The two outside walls are mostly all window - grade 2 listed windows, from hip/waist height to very high ceiling height (about 9 ft). But it's busy - I decluttered, yet still have too much stuff!
    I now have serious apartment makeover goals!
