    Absolutely gorgeous!! The desk as a table I'm not quite sold on as not keen on the slot for wires in its surface, but apart from that it's gorgeous!

    • @socialjusticejewelry
      @socialjusticejewelry Год назад +75

      I feel the same way about the table not sold on it. I would think if you were seated on either side of the storage leg, you can't get close enough to the table to eat without bumping your knee or getting your legs in some uncomfortable position. Not a seat to sit for a long time to eat, chat and hang. The cord slot also seems like a hole for crumbs. Hope I am wrong or that they find a similarly shaped and sized dining table if I am not.

    • @andreamalik2961
      @andreamalik2961 Год назад +61

      @Social Justice Jewelry agree with you. I actually feel a longer rectangular table would make the space feel wider too. As it is, most of the bench wouldn't get used & as you say, you can't actually sit close to the right side of the desk & couldn't put a place setting there as the wire socket circle is raised. It looks pretty but it isn't practical at all.

    • @TamarLitvot
      @TamarLitvot Год назад +22

      @@andreamalik2961 for small gatherings (4 people) it will be fine. It looks great but I agree that a bigger table would be more practical - maybe with rounded ends like the desk rather than a rectangle with corners. But I’m reminding myself of when I lived in a smallish apartment with my not-yet husband when we were much younger, and any gathering we had of more than 5 people ended up in the living room.

    • @jenpink4298
      @jenpink4298 Год назад +34

      Everything looks gorgeous, but I do agree about the issues with using the desk as the table. I haven’t looked lately because I don’t have any more room for furniture, but I feel like article would have had a better choice for an actual dining table. It just seems like it’s gonna be really hard to get around those legs and I don’t like that hole in the top. That said, it’s a gorgeous transformation!

    • @rebecarendell
      @rebecarendell Год назад +22

      I'm the same regarding the desk - I thought that the bulky legs would make it uncomfortable to sit at in most positions, and don't like the cord recess. However, the couple can obviously test it out and if they need to make that one change to the space to make it work for them, it's still a fabulous transformation 🙂

  • @geraldinex3_
    @geraldinex3_ Год назад +2

    this is STUNNING! it's such a gorgeous makeover. But i do think it deserves an actual dining table. While the desk table is very nice, it does look more like a desk table than a dining table. I think adding a more rustic dining table to this space would have completely elevated the space even more.

    The back wall looks good. I like it. But (had the same with the small bedroom), all the focus and energy goes into that one back wall and the other (side) walls are neglected and empty. And I think the table looks nice, but it is not really practical with the cupboard underneath it. You could sit with two people opposite each other and it would be okay, but more people and you would not know where to put your legs. It is not only about the look.

I wished I had more space in my home to make every one of your transformations happen iside my home. You make magic! On the practical side of things, this time I did not like the "table" choice. As a desk, it is the best. As a dinning table people will have trouble with the legspace. The color and wood texture are wonderful, but that round storage leg doesn't help one bit. Alexandra, could you reach out to the adorable Jenna Phipps on RUclips to find out if you could collaborate with her? She’s a fellow Canadian with a new small space to decorate in sad circumstances but she has such a fun, colourful and joyous aesthetic that I think you would love to work with. Just an idea. Love all you do xxx

    ah yes, the age old concierge elevator block... dealt with that many a times. We heisted our 65" television up the regular elevator in the evening. The key is to know the desk schedule, usually the night shift is a lot more chill and less likely to ring the alarm lol

And, @AlexandraGater , your kitchen makeover with the black and white checkered floors with the green cabinets is my most fav!!! Yes, 'I' remember that video. (Giggling) Love it!

    I wish Graham had created a wooden plug for that open grommet on the desk/dining table. And you could’ve painted it that beautiful green gray color that’s on the walls and it. And then just tapped it into the open hole and that would’ve added an interesting point to the table and tie it into the space.

    I recently discovered your chanel on youtube and now I'm binging ALL the episodes. I really love how you work with the colors and already got some inspiration with the posters from Desenio for my own space. Thank you! Graham over all does an amazing job and I wish I had all the tools he got. But I think in this episode the upholstery on the bench could have been done more professionaly. It turned out really wavy around the edges. I'm a professional upholsterer myself and just thought "let me do thiiiiiiis" . Please don't get it the wrong way. Still love you guys very much. All the best from around the world.

    Hey AG Team! I love how this bench situation worked out, it's really such a statement in this nook! Decoration as usual on point! Love the colors, love that it still looks bright and cozy even with the dark wall. The desk/table has an interesting shape but I would not have used it as a dining table for multiple reasons: they wanted clearly to host family and friends around the table and sit around it comfortably for hours even after dinner (as she said) and this table feels not really comfortable to sit around, you can place 4 people in with plates etc and maybe have some space left for fooed. Plus there is this plug outlid which somehow breaks the wow effect as it becomes obvious that it is not a real dining table. Also another thing is that you mentionned that her books would have a moment in the space too which they don't.
    So overwall of course excellent handsman craft and designing job, only funtionnality of the table and wishes of the "client", no :/
    Other thing: love how you do the problem solving, you guys seems to be just so chill about it and go around things with lots of respect and fun I really love that for you! you seem to be an excellent working team together

    Nice transformation, especially compared with the busier looking kitchen space in the background.
    Not only did I ask my landlord for permission to make-over my apartment, but I took it one step further and asked to be compensated in my rent for doing so. He offered to rebate a portion of my rent for an entire year, which was a win-win for both of us.
    If it were mine, I would have preferred that the bench storage have four separate lids even if it were only one or two continuous cushions. With the larger, heavier, upholstered lids, I would want hinges to make access more user friendly.
    Having decided that you liked the colour (which looks very grey with a brown undertone on my screen), I wonder what it would have looked like if the top of the wall was a couple of shades lighter.
    As an aside, if the beadboard doesn't go all the way to the floor, it means the benches will have to stay with the apartment when they move out, or the wall will have to be disassembled, patched and re-painted.
    I do wish that Graham had been tasked with filling in the electronic cord opening on the top of the desk-turned-dining table...
    Did the lights have a dimmer switch?
    Nice to see how happy they both were :)

    They can add a 1/4" thick, larger panel (could even be hinged to be foldable for stowing) for the table, for those once-a-year, large family events.
    I had a big table, used it only once or twice a year + had to battle all year for it not to turn into a repository-of-stuff surface plane.

    Really beautiful. Very fresh, very clean, very interesting.The only thing I would do is add some sort of translucent or semi opaque bottom to the large hanging fixture because when you are seated at the table you are going to stare into bright light bulbs & I would want to soften that so that you get the illumination, but you aren't looking up at the bulbs.The other thing I might have considered is adding a 2nd top to the dining table as you can see the cord management portal on the pedestal end of the "table"/desk. a white quartz top would allow you to carry the white of the walls, the upholstery on the bench & the sheepskin throw on the dining chairs onto the table. The quartz would also preclude the need for trivets, coasters, etc. as it is more or less bomb proof.
