I am LOVING that she said "Green is the new neutral" As someone with nearly exclusively black/ white items in their home, I recently branched out & have velvet green sofas, a rug with large leaves on it, & tons of plants. If nothing else green definitely is a neutral when you have plants around!
Yes, those earthy greens🪴 are truly growing🌿 on me in design. Olive green is in my clothing color palette. It goes handsomely with black🖤, white🤍, brown🤎, gray⚫, chambray blue💠, navy✨, & pops of red🍒. Everyone was taken aback😳 when my dad 🖌️painted a tall dresser chest in a vibrant kelly green & added gold campaign style accents. It's mod & blends quite remarkably with his darkly finished Thomasville Zen suite. When it comes to home 🏡 interiors I favor black & white too, but I find it needs grounding with at least a few pieces of naturally stained timber🪵 items too. A velvet sofa is def on my ⭐ wish list〰️and green is very appealing. It strikes me as both elegant & elemental, so I'm starting to see it's value as a neutral. 💚 Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I love when you mention all the prep that goes into a shoot (the driving around to pick things up, sourcing items, etc) I would LOVE to see a video documenting all the BTS that goes into a makeover. Love how the kitchen turned out!
I would looooove to see the entire pre makeover process going on over the weeks, from.the search for the space, the design process and sourcing every item!
@Susette Smith As in artwork, a lamp definitely adds an inviting warmth. Makes what could be a more functional & utilitarian space feel more like another cosy living area. Layered light is always a smart design element. 💚 Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Painting the cabinets does change the whole look, but I've never been in a rental where the landlord would allow a tenant to paint them. That green paint is gorgeous.
That's what I was thinking! If they're already painted, that's one thing. You can re-paint them to the original color. But faux woodgrain to olive green? All my landlords would've charged me the cost of buying all new cabinets.
@@littlepixieme1 Nope! I've rented for a long time (in Canada) and you definitely cannot paint cabinets unless you clear it first with your landlord. Hard to reverse if they are wooden cabinets with the grain being visible
That green color actually makes the counter and floor color look so much better. This is great! I’m so glad you walked through the work it takes to redo cabinets. It’s a ton of elbow grease but so much more cost effective than replacing, especially if they are still in good condition!
I'm moving to my grandma's old place in a couple of weeks and the kitchen looks exactly the same as Meghan's old kitchen. I REALLY needed this video!! Thanks team AG! The new kitchen looks amazing 💥
Oh my gosh, that green cabinet color is so nice. This might be one of my favorite makeovers that you've ever done; you really turned that drab little kitchen into such a cute space!
Love your enthusiasm in decorating. Fun to watch young people in Interior Design. Speaking of using table lamps on kitchen counters- I have been doing that for years! Love the ambiance of cozy light. You can find them really cheap at thrift stores! I also like to elevate display items with vintage trivets and cake plates on legs.
Somehow it looks like an Italian kitchen! Love that you're stepping out of your comfort zone these days :) I will try to style the top of my cabinets again what a gorgeous tip 😊
Wow! That is awful, we have been in our rental home for 14 years, and have never had our landlord raise our rent or ask to come in and see it. That being said, we have paid a professional landscaper to landscape our back yard, replaced the dishwasher with a new one, when the old one went out, and painted the inside.
ngl i actually liked the original cabinets but the shade of green is amazing. I love how warm everything is, i could totally see this in my own home and that's not something I say often (even tho I often really love looking at styles that I don't wanting my own home, I still really enjoy the look in other spaces so that doesn't mean I love it less)
@@monicavictoria787 Yes exactly what I do in my kitchen. I keep my cabinets in wood tone and just change the styling of everything else to keep it fresh.
One of your best makeovers lately. Love the retro vibe! I got a stand up grow light that has 4 arms that stretch out and can be bent and moved around. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought. My plants love it 🌱
Lovely sense of style. Not afraid of expressing yourself through lots of colors, patterns and beautiful things. So far removed from same old white plain kitchen that others insist on doing and very few are bold enough to do.. Definitely a style full of joy that I have in common with this RUclipsr.
Where there is disorder and ugliness you bring order and beauty. Those energies are not only useful in our homes but in the world. Thanks for what you do. Your videos are a bright spot in my day.
I loved everything. The white caulking was distracting though. It was like an outline around the cabinets. Beautiful color for the cabinets. The copper pans are awesome. And she is lucky to have glass doors on the cabinets to see the pretty containers.
Over the months/years I’ve only kept the subscription to the AG channel. Alexandra you grow and a designer, stylist, DIYer. Every time you come with something new and, what’s important, you listen to your clients and space. Bravo!

Such an awesome kitchen makeover! I love it! My husband & I put oak cabinets in our 1910 Bungalow renovation in the early 80's. When we sold the house 27 yrs. later they were really dated. The new owners had them painted. My husband would never have allowed that. Men usuallt never want to paint wood. If I was still there I would have had them painted. I have sage green cabinets in my current house. I so love them.
Love love love the colors. As someone who cooks a lot, I couldn’t afford to give up any counter space for a lamp. That is the only thing I would change
5:50 I am LOVING this Graham-cam situation! It’s very satisfying to watch him methodically sand, dust, prime, and paint everything, and the cuphooks-to-hang tip is genius 😍 Going back to watch the rest of the makeover now, but I had to stop and say this first 😄
I've binged videos over a few days. Your use of space is impressive. What I find a little puzzling is that every design is basically the same....black, white and brown with blue, green, lavender, pink, and gold accents. All fabrics are organic, textured neutrals. Wood is usually light in color. Whether dark and moody or post-modern, or hotel chic, the recipe starts at a different place but somehow ends up at the same destination.
Love seeing the genuine HAPPY reactions. Another makeover SLAYYED!! Well done Team AG 👏 peel and stick wallpaper is my absolute favorite way to change up a wall without painting. It truly makes a huge difference. AAAAND no potted plants were stacked onto books in this one so bonus points 🤣😜
I wish you went with the blue light, but other than that, the kitchen looks so great! As alway you did a fantastic Job, Alexandra & Team!! Also I really appreciate the editing, so smooth to watch!
Watching this 2-3 yr old makeover video, it's great. I know you make sure owner approves- permission. My only negative is the ceiling needed to be painted. There's a big rectangle in the middle brighter than the yellowish tone. Great work!
This has to be my favourite of all your makeovers, mainly because I love bold colours. I love the orange accent with that green. So glad you're experimenting
I love watching your videos. My style is often different from yours. Why then do I love your videos? Because of your creative process! You effect profound changes to make peoples lives better! Okay wow. I've been searching for a perfect shade of green. And here she is omg, I'll be using this paint for my kitchen makeover in the summer. thanks AG!!
love this makeover- esp the new color. Also like that in your vids you use the owner's own decorations instead buying more and making us wonder if they don't already own any cute things. Curious if the rug will slide around and bolder colors onvit night have been fun to play with. great job- love when you expand your horizons
I’m so glad that here in Germany you have to bring your own kitchen. Yes, it’s expensive. But you can move in with a kitchen that is how you need/want it.
I wasn't sure if I would like the end result, but I did. I absolutely did. I love it. That color is so beautiful. and all the little details are awesome.
I think the space looks great but I wish the “rental” aspect of the series was more consistent to true renters and rental friendly updates. I think this makeover should have been in a different series personally based on the permanent aspect of the cabinet paint.
I love my grow lights!! I have two strips that are plug in and one grow light bulb. If I could attach a picture I would because I love my plant shelf/wall. Also green will take over the world
Looks awesome! Was worried about the brown counters clashing, but they don't!! instead of putting nails in the walls for the plants, use the adhesive small hooks that don't leave marks on the wall. Additionally, those plants will attach themselves to walls and peel paint... just an fyi
It looks lovely! Personally (because I love colour and mood), I would have painted the end wall (the one that the cooker is against) a deep teal/blue/turquoise colour. I think that would have gone brilliantly with the green and also with the copper and the orange of the counter and floor... But I think it's a great change as it is too.
Gosh! You are so lucky over there to be able to revamp a rental property. My sister has had to rent for last few years and told me that she cannot even hang a picture, let alone decorate
Wow. I thought maybe I wouldn't like this, with the green and b/w backsplash, but I absolutely love it!! I don't know how you come up with these ideas, but they're amazing.
